It's obvious that Deadmau5 made the synth duck under the kick through sidechaining. However, I'm wondering what would have happened if he had simply sidechained the lower frequencies of the synth exclusively as opposed to sidechaining the entire synth itself.

Don't get me wrong. The song is fantastic. I'm just wondering if the melody would sound more exquisite with my suggestion.

Try downloading FL Studio demo to play with it. It has some good synthesizers, Such as Sytrus. I love sytrus. I havent seen anyone using sounds of the keyboard. all of them use certain software (Cuebase, Reason by Propeller Heads, some like basshunter use FL Studio.)

I hadn't noticed the difference until you pointed it out. In my opinion, a tune like this, which has so many different layers and sounds, wouldn't be greatly affected whether it was central or to the right. But then again, deadmau5 has done it, and he's done it for a reason. Bearing in mind he's such a good artist, I'd just assume it sounds better shifted to the right.
