its so simple, but it sounds so damn good. excellent work. this is one of the best feel good songs of all time. sometimes its those simple yet meaningful notes that sound better.
awesome! I love this song, I can remember listening to it on a "45" YEARS ago! Those of you older know what I'm talking about..I played it over and over..with the little yellow disc for the turntable player. I love the lead in the song..Glenn Frey rules!
Next SD pickup you might want to try is STK-S2 Hot Stack. Doesn't have tapping...don't think. But will deliever alittle more classic rock/heavy blues tone. Simplified. But you better be precise, it makes the strings more unforgiving.
The hotrails has a coil tapping ability, read the instructions when you get yours, I recommend looking into using it.
The full hotrails, wired in series, has a much fatter tone than a standard single coil stratocaster pickup, but if you utilise the coil tapping ability with a selector switch you might be able to get two tones for the price of one.
Very enjoyable listening. How do you think that the original guitarist created that electo-mechanical burst of noise on around the third verse, (2:40) or so?
I actually thought that was an unintended chime by Felder. Just my two pennies. I have rarely ever been able to replicate that. Some of the best riffs that go onto tape are accidental. ;)
Excellent work. I came on Youtube looking for the infamous dueling guitars of Walsh and Felder... found a lot of it but was pleasantly surprised by this as well.
nice playing. its great that i found this video because a just ordered a SD Hot rails for the bridge in my strat. Thanks for the video! Now I know exactly what it sounds like.
Actually, the secondary guitar part is someone else, this song pre-dates Walsh's arrival to the band. Can't remember the guy's name off the top of my head, though. But yes, the foreground guitar track I'm playing was done by Don Felder.
I actually learned this by ear about 15 years ago. The version you see here, anyway. If I get time I can try and translate it to tabs. Can't promise anything, though, been busy working.
you learned this by yourself. pretty goddamn good man!

Do you find is difficult to get the hotrails to sound like a strat? I've bought one but i'm concerned it won't sound like a strat tone at all...
