How much of this series was 3D animation as opposed to 2D animation? From the opening the 2D animation looks great but the 3D animation not so much.

@Geshpenst The CGI in the opening of this for the characters was never actually used in the cartoon. The American Version, Robots in Disguise, didn't use the CGI at all, this is the first time I've seen the Japanese version.

Because the toys which became Transformers were acquired by Hasbro (an American company), who then released them with all the accompanying backstory and stuff (Optimus Prime wasn't his own character in the original toy line) in the US, where they got successful. Hasbro has the rights to Transformers, so that is why a lot of the fiction is American in origin.

Music is nothing great. But I like the 3D animation a lot. The very first TF series I watched all the way through as a kid (back then, I hated Beast Wars, the idea of robos becoming animals didn't suit me. Still don't like Beast Wars that much). The American dub was comical yet it wasn't overdone.

Well, I already knew about the Headmasters and so-forth. But G1 really was anime. You see, it was story borded in america but was animated in japan, and the animated movie was by Toei. Though I have noticed GF had a lot of Convoys. I think they should leave "Convoy" for the leaders, instead of Nitro Convoy for Overide, and Live Convoy for Evac. I like the Japanese versions better because there a bit more mature. I mean, look what they did with Cybertron! It's too childish for me, though I liked the long conversations in Armada and the darker tone of Energon. But G1 still stays gold!

TF:The Movie wasn't released in Japan until 1989, which shows the story was originally intended for US audiences. The continuity of the story in both nations would have synced better, if Japan co-produced. Japan just animated it. If you look at the production staff, they're all American. Concept, storyboarding, writing, creates the show. The Simpsons and Family Guy are animated in Korea. Does that mean it's Korean, or even partly Korean?

The trasformers anime comprends:Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, Zone OVA,Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, Robots in disguise, Armada, Eneregon and Cybertron. The only american anes are G1 and the new Transformers animated, and yes of course the new Transformers animated. Oh, and Beast Wars and Beast machines, but those were canadian-american-a bit japanese, I think
