why "mind-blowing".. it's a very standard x-wind landing and not that impressive of one actually - i'm more than qualified by the way - in that type as well -
I would say it was a rather hard landing, little crab, little flare, right of the centerline but I am having a REAL HARD TIME trying to understand how this landing could be mind blowing...
@flchange you are correct on all counts - except that he winds up over crabbing and landing on the left of the centerline.. not a very impressive routine crosswind landing from the standpoint of someone who does this on a daily basis for a living..
@altazboy I didn´t actually remember I had posted that comment LOL, but I still agree with it. I am sure the guy has had and will have better landings. It's pretty common for pilots that fly these type of machines to be overrealiant on RA advisories (50, 40, 30) and disregard the basics on how to land a plane. Fly an in trim approach, light, relaxed control wheel applications, Look outside, focus your eyes to the middle of the far end of the rwy, and be aware of pitch down moments during flare.

Thumbs up from me, I know pilots will be saying big deal it's just a crosswind landing but to us normal people flying in the back of the things it's very impressive and shows why pilots sitting in the front of planes are still held in high regard from the general public, super stuff!
@gaggotgaggot Verbal attacks for no apparent reason is a result of your emotional insecurity and or a pubescent child incapable of controlling your hormone changes, due to processed foods. You have proven to the world that it is you that is the SAD SAD little F%ucker. Time to grow up or please exit this reality. You have the ability to be a good person, try it for a change.
Text book crosswind landing. Nothing mind blowing about it. The other method is to get one wheel down first. Everybody thinks those are bad landings. There not, it's proper technique. If they didn't do it either one of these ways they would drift off of the runway.
I had that once landing on Rotterdam in a FOkker 50. NOT FUN. I could look down the runway, looking out my seat window. It all seemed to get better when closer to the ground. More lift and slower wind there, right?
yeah dude totaly cuz every has to know every thing about planes right cuz its common knowledge to know what a crosswind approach is. and don't talk like ur a fuking pilot. and it is cool to see a crosswind landing cuz it dosnt happen all the time especially with this much wind. DUHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
When I was a kid, my dad would take us to our local airport to watch the planes come in. I recall thinking, "those pilots must be MAGICIANS to be able to bring those big planes in on those tiny wheels!"
Whel, it could have been worse. The touchdown was pretty rough though, look at the wingtips and how they move in relation to to ground. Pilot probably reported a rough landing in his logbook
Maybe, of course it depends on the pilots and of course we saw the landing from another point of view so maybe it felt just fine in the aircraft. We may never know. I'm just a student pilot for now but we've learned to report hard landings when we feel one.
Wait a few years, Brussels will have you filling out a report if you fart in the cockpit.
FYI, a hard landing worth reporting (at least by airframe standards) will leave you feeling like a gorilla sat on you. If you had the tip of your tongue sort of clenched between your teeth (as students often do; it's something to do with arse cheek clenching) you'll be missing that as well.
its a cross wind landing, u have to point the nose of the aircraft into the wind for it to maintain a str8 line over the ground, then right before touch down u use the rudders to straighten up the aircraft and aileron to keep it over the center line. its pretty cool
The angle of attack tells me wind was heading 090 if he was landing on runway 24 (240deg) probably at 40-60knots maybe even 80 knots, did you notice the side slip and rudder motion? did you notice the pilots sinkrate on last final? Gee that could have turned to shit real easy
Yes but if this plain is travailing at 230 mph north with a wind speed of X over .375inches, multiplied by 60knots during a 60 degree turn, when will the two plains hit?
People like you need to get out more, there is NOTHING 'mind blowing' about this landing - it is STANDARD procedure for professional pilots. That is a COMPLIMENT to the pilots btw. Good grief there are FAR more challenging approaches/landings to be seen even here on YT.
No offense taken and none intended, cool? I was just saying that the title 'mind blowing' is a stretch in this case. a better title would be 'Nice crosswind landing' or something. And of course it's not easy - but you have to be a trained pro to do it and make it LOOK easy like this pilot does :)
Sorry my Pilipino Prend, but SIA pilots are unrivalled worldwide. Now por puck's sake get back to the airport or you'll miss your Pilipine Airlines plight!!!
It could be that the plane was coming in too fast, and the pilot simply "slipped" the plane to slow it down. it would then obviously be necessary to normalize the controls just before landing or ....
Just to let all of u guys know... That was a very hard landing. I mean if u see how hard the wheels hit the ground on the last second of short final, then you would notice how hard it was.
theres 2 methods crab or forward slip, forward slip is more recommended as the plane will be straight..the crab u hold it then at last minute kick the rudder over to align your self

I heard from a friend in airtraffic contral that they had a double flame out just before touch down.... they just simply ran out of gas. Thats why they missed the runway at the last second.
