I think it's more of being scared of the bridge than heights. I have a black lab mix and he won't cross any bridges no matter how close to the ground they are. He always finds an alternate route, if he can.

Your story was really similar to mine. I got my Alee when I was 8 years old and have had him for a little over 14 years. He is the best dog a little girl could ask for. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Well sadly the time came for Henry. We had him put down tonight after a very traumatic few days with him. He was nearly 15, a very good age for a Labrador. I have grown up with him since i was 9, and i'm 24 this year. Truly the worse thing any family can go through, but it was for the best as he was suffering. RIP to my best friend Henry June 1996 to March 2011 Gone but never forgotten. People will always remember you for your funny ways, like in this video, what a character! ;)

A couple of children are maimed or killed by dogs each year in Britain and it is usually by a pitbull.

I don't know whether pitbulls are naturally dangerous dogs or whether it is only when they are not trained or kept properly. In Britain they are all being bred illegally, some are being bred for dog fighting (also illegal in Britain) and some are used as weapons to intimidate rivals on the street. That sort of owner is perhaps not the most responsible.

@wasertix Yea but he's a lab, he's not scared of water, when he was young, he used to swin out to sea and in rivers, we even threw rocks in for him and he'd dissapear for what seemed like a long time underwater until eventually retuning with a rock the size of his head in his mouth!
