Back in the early 1980s (1982 or 1983), I saw this series in reruns on the CBC every Saturday afternoon. Considering what many people in my generation felt about Canadian TV at the time, it was actually a good show, and quite interesting, too. Another rare piece of Canadiana that only lasted a season back in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Budge Crawley went through a lot to make this show a hit in the U. S. He followed his instincts & didn't allow the American network honchos to interfere (as is their habit) and it cost him, as R. C. M. P. never garnered the ratings it might've in syndication.

yes it debuted on CBC in the fall on 1959. it later sold all over the world, including japan and even cuba.
