  • 00:25 You would be good as dead when your at the battlefield lol Something DICE could add lol defected loading

  • Seeing how many stoppages there were, makes me appreciate our service rifle here in Canada more. Good old C7A1 =D

  • god this gun does clog alot

  • what the fuck this guy dosnt even know how to operate the rifle im a cadet and i can shoot way better than him.

  • how is the recoil ??

  • Wow my friend was right, the L85A1 does jam a lot :S

  • @planetary109 ur friend is not right. that shooter was just a retard. :3

  • @kyleww95 what was he doing wrong with the weapon?

  • Without parentheses, this video would be titled "L85A1 shooting Norwegian troops". Thank you for the distinction.

  • What's the advantage of having the magazine in the back? Is it just to make the weapon a little more compact?

  • @Mattlarrivee what you said

it means the barrel can be placed all the way inside the gun

  • I don't know why I always though the L85 was an open bolt weapon with non reciprocating charging handle... The perks of getting old I guess...

Anyway, I never knew the A1 had so many problems. I knew it jammed periodically, and had some problems with the magazine retainer, but in that video it genuinely seems to be a nightmare to work with. Which is in stark contrast to the A2 which is quite an impressive piece of equipment.

  • piece of jamming shit

  • @SnipinAngel No, actually its very good, if you know how to use it properly.

  • @LordWellington15 i see what you mean, the look of it is just insane and rapid fire is pretty accurate

  • @SnipinAngel Yeah the M16 sucks.

  • I find it kind of strange that you can put a magazine into an SA80 and it will stay there without ~actually~ having locked in place.

You'd think that if the magazine wasn't inserted far enough, the catch wouldn't engage it would just fall out again.

  • the A1 is so bad

  • Thank fuck for the A2!

  • That guy who put in his magazine loosly: don't bang the bottom.

  • ehm can you say whether this rifle is precise`?

  • Some on here don't seem to realise that this video is probably nearly 10 years old.

The L85 (SA80) was shit. In a week of live firing in Brecon I personally broke a firing pin, an extractor, and had so many stoppages you wouldn't believe it.

The L85A2 (SA80A2) brought in at the start of the Afghan campaign and it resolves all the issues. Personally, In 2 tours of Iraq, and 1 of Helmand, I have never had a single stoppage with this rifle. Obviously I'm an exception but it is very, very reliable.

  • THAT GUY WHO CANT EVEN LOAD THE RIFLE NEEDS A KICKING FOR HAVING SHIT DRILLS ON THE RANGE!

IM A UK SOLDIER SO I CAN SAY THAT

  • @markdawson1982 british cunt? u need some gaysex into ur lyfe boo <3

  • @Belacanbusuk12 Yeah? well done, you sound really intelligent.

  • @markdawson1982 I think it's just a piece of junk, that's why it got replaced with the L85A2.

  • @markdawson1982 lol. im a scottish air cadet and i can say he has shit drills. lol

  • @markdawson1982 anyone can say anything, its whether you should or not is the question

  • the SA80 is crap. World leading in accuracy, but lost everything in reliability. SA80A2 : world leading in accuracy and range and reliability. Same internals as hk416 but longer barrel.

  • Whats the difference between the L85A1 and the SA80 ?

  • @BOWERYBOYNO1 SA80 is the group of weapons based around the L85 design, so that means the A1 the A2 the L98 GP and even the L86 Light Support Weapon :)

  • @ooogaboooga172

    thanks for the information.

Knew they where in the same family of weapons as the all look identical.

  • @BOWERYBOYNO1 yeah its that family that is called SA80 (Small Arms 1980's)

  • Wow, magazine guy. Really dont want him covering your six.

  • lol I came from Dunkus... Norway FTW! :D

  • Tss Forward assist you....

  • at 0:18 is that an AK5 that guy is playing with? and the AUG is propably better than the L85 thinking that the AUG is pretty lightweight, bulpup, short, accurate and is an ambidextrious gun.

  • @thelonewolf9603

0:18 the Norwegian closest to the camera has the L85A1 and the guy just a but further to his right has the Colt Canada C8.

The AUG vs the L85A2, is pretty similar. Long barrels, short, accurate. The L85 can only be fired properly from the right shoulder and it does not matter if your are a left shooter or a right shooter, your still going to learn to fire from the right like everyone else. The new rail systems for the L85A2 give the riflemen the ablity to have a front grip.

  • @thelonewolf9603

Which is now more like the AUG with its vertical grip at the foregrip.

    There are both great rifles.

  • @thelonewolf9603 let me guess you fired all off the rifles AUG,AK and L85A1 so you know which rifle is best

if you like AUG go watch them

  • NORWAY RULES!!!

  • 0:35 epic fail xD

  • dunkuzzz

  • Who else came from Dunkus?

  • i thought the title meant they were shooting norwegian troops

  • Gee, I wonder why the Commonwealth Of Canada adopted a version of the M-16, and the Aussies went with the AUG. Usually they adopted whatever the standard Brit issue combat rifle was at the time. The only export customers fo this POS weapon where the Jamaican Defense Force, who promptly shelved them and kept their L1A1's and Ruger Mini-14's, And Mugabes Zimbabwean Army. I got to handle the A2 variant in Iraq, and despite the money wasted on rebuilding the rifle. It's sadly still crap.

  • Aren't L85A1 have alot of problem and fixed in L85A3 model?

  • @ElliFong

    L85A3 - typo?, it is the L85A2.

L85A1 - Accurate, good rate of fire, bullpup design. it does not adapt to (extreme) weather: Jungle - humid, wet. Desert - dusty, Arctic - Cold, Icy, minus temps. Those are its weak points especially in the Gulf War 1990 and the early stages of the second .

L85A2 - Improved version. looks of modifications by H&K. Works very well. Has the occasionally (rare) stoppage. The team at H&K are doing very well and you'll see more from them in the future.

  • My uncle has used the L85A2 in combat and never had a jam with it. I am not completely satisfied he is telling truth about that. He is a RM ;-). But its clear this guy didn’t have the mag in clean so that is not down to the gun. From what I am hearing the gun is well liked. But I have only ever seen the SE2 proto type so I will let other debate the guns merits and failings. The technical reports on what was wrong with the first SA80s is however fascinating reading if you get a chance.

    .

  • lol first minuet already 7 jams wat a shit gun

  • @southsidevampire shit gun? ok you have no idea what your talking about. go back to call of duty you fool.

  • @toxic2k7 What some people don't understand is life isn't a video game. If you get shot, it'll hurt like hell. It's a piece of metal tearing thorugh your flesh, your body can heal, but very very slowly, not after five seconds. Kids think it's all about damage and rate of fire. It's also about weight, the kickback and the reliability of the gun. The SA80 is good because it's small, manourvrable and has excellent sight.

  • @urbangekko I can agree with what you say about being shot mate. I have been hit twice on shoot days by single No:6 shot gun pellets. Both times is was several months before the damage was fully repaired. I also used to work the target sashes on a firing range when I was a kid. I would hate to be hit by a bullet of any kind. Only Hollywood bullets leave interesting but not life threatening holes in people.

  • I like the L85... A2 sorry to see the a1 jam so much.

  • i used to hate the 5.56 but after hearing that even if you hit the sternum its still a kill

aalthough under normal circumstances with body armor the 5.56 sucks but still is an okay bullet the sa80 shows how good its accuracy is if only our american weapons could be fitted with susat and ACOG on both rifles we would have lots of good hits

  • very VERY good gun kinda

  • I wish we sould switch to something like a HK417 and get back to the good old 7.62 mm bullet again!

  • Shooting wiht:

  • woooooooo sa80 i love this weapon system forward asists safteycatches all thaat good stuf on the a2

  • oh dear lord the a1 model the most unreliable rifle eva made

  • the A1 really was a pile of arse ....

  • 0:43 noob :P

  • omg when you have tihs problems in a fight :D

  • @UKsniper4 burn in hell

  • @babygangster911 i don't believe in hell.

  • hmm, i've never seen somone to get so manly blockages...

but this IS the A1 and i've never fired it, and i've heard it is a bitch with blockages..

  • @David3040 the A2 hsas had 110 different modifications since 1985

  • @collieoVTEC The A2 hasn't been around since 1985. Only went operational in 2001. all weapon systems get fixes and upgrades through their life time. Its a fat of military procurement

  • @bubbles867 the A2 came from the modified A1, i never said it was around in 1985, i was briefly saying that the A1 has had this many to form the A2. and if your correcting me then "fact" is spelt "F-A-C-T not "fat".

  • @collieoVTEC Stop scoring points by picking up on a typo , it shows a lack of a reply or argument , its really quite pathetic

  • @bubbles867 I'm pathetic for picking up on your mistakes? BAHAHA! says you who was trying to "score points" over my wrongly worded comment in the first place! your pathetic!

  • @collieoVTEC No the difference is you worded your comment wrong and partly you was wrong , mine was a typo. thats the difference

  • @bubbles867 i wasn't partly wrong and your an anal bead.

  • @collieoVTEC So you admit you're partly wrong? Nice one , oh and if you like to pick people up on their spelling mistakes , i could of done to you 10 times now , but i won't as i have a life.

  • @bubbles867 how mature. a life of telling people shit about guns you'll never fire.

  • @collieoVTEC I am in the British Army and have fired the vast majority of the worlds AR's. Your only claim ot fame is firing a weapon on a PS3 playing Call of Duty

  • @bubbles867 behave, your not in the British army. we don't get to fire the vast majority of assault rifles. and your the one with call of duty videos on your page.

  • @collieoVTEC Obviously you have no concept of what happens in Afghan or when you go on SCBC in Brecon. You are aware that their is foreign weapon course's too right? no you dont know that.

Second , did you also know the UK MOD buys 10 examples of every small arms weapon that gets released? Yep they sure do.

probably expalins the fact that the UK used the M16 before the US , although we had a chrome lined barrell the US never , bet they wished they listened to the UK!

  • @David3040 9/10 stoppages on any rifle is caused by the magazine. either not correctly seating the round in the mag properly , getting dirt in your mag , not releasing the pressure on the springs every 2 weeks or as shown in this vid , not placing the mag on but slamming it on. That causes the round to move and loosen thus , making the rifle incorrectly feed a round into the chamber. And don't say its the magazines fault , this mag on the A1 was made to NATO standards or STANNAG

  • @AirSquirrel1 i love this gun

  • Looks like a woman at 0:21 sunglasses, dark hair?

  • do u know about the trithilum gas in the susat sight if u turn a dial on the side of the sight and the hairpin glows bright orange for night ops

  • 0:22 trust me the person on the far left is a women and 1:26 the guy far left is called sarjent horn and i know i spelt sarjent diferntly its how we spell it in the rifles

  • what year was this in because early this year my platoon B COY the rifles went to norway and i saw a rifles beret

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 Surely if your in B Coy The Rifles you're going to see Rifles berets?

And it's Seargent whatever Regt your in.

  • @di55illu5ioned there are rifle berets there and in the rifles we spell it sarjent dont ask why but we are just different that way and we also have a back cap badge on our berets

  • @di55illu5ioned Sergeant actually. The term Serjeant is still used traditionally i am informed. My grandad was Ox and Bucks LI in ww1, my uncles scots and english infantry in ww2, also a RM and i was originally an infantryman.

  • my best friend is in the commandos, and he says he is always worried of jams, its not a good feeling shooting when your rife is unpredictable

  • @tom3167 He isn't maintaining his weapon properly then. The L85 has always been a decent bit of kit (Apart from the trials and some of the first issued.), but after the H&K rebuild they are a great weapon.

  • @di55illu5ioned Really is that why SAS will not use it and they now need to buy an intermediate 7.62 weapon to actually hit the enemy at longer distances, which an off the shelf Belgian weapon from FN would have done a better job. I first trained on the L1A1 SLR, then the 7.62 Lee Enfield conversion sniper rifle, and the M16, and i know which weapon i would prefer in afghanistan, something with range and power and that is 7.62.

  • @carroj9 Oh and try and get an Image of the SAS sergeant's mess meeting Wadi Rabwa, 1991. (Peter Rattcliffe's book, The Eye of the Storm) And you'll be surprised at just how many SA-80's you see fella!

  • I firmly believe that the l85A2 is a far superior rifle to the M16A4 in terms of accuracy.

  • if you think this is a toy you ovbiously are just a 5 year old immature kid who knows nothing about guns.

  • That looks more like the a2 to me...

  • this just happens, I fire the A2 alot in cadets the magazine just needs a bit of force to get clicked in place, if you are to afarid to hit it hard it won't work simple as ^^

  • l85a2 isnt that good it jams like the thompson sub machine gun

  • @theGaryBhullar1 The a1 used to jam alot more tho and that is a fact.......

  • actually you probably picked the worst place to post that my grandfather was a royal engineer and he used a thompson through out the second world war, he told me it wasa very good SMG, and would do what you needed it to do as long as you respecte dit's limits. It only jamed alot he said when they tested the new drum magazines in north africa because of the srping inside getting blocked up with dust. I am a cadet in the UK and have fired, stripped and cleaned the L85A2, it's a fantastic bit akit

  • @AIRSOFTHURTS101

But, the Cadet forces do not have ultimate access to the L85A2 so the chances of that happening are very slim and you would mainly be using the L98A2 instead..

  • @AirSquirrel1 Yeah it's true that as a cadet you only use the L98A2, but opportunities arise for the use of better weapons for example in Wathgill, our company fired the L86A2

  • @theFrinton I was an Army Cadet some 15 years ago, and I got to use lots of different weapons. The .303 Enfield (Blank), L98A1 Cadet GP (Blank & Live), L86A1 LSW (Full auto blank), L98A1 Heckler Koch .22 Conversion (Live), L85A1 SA80 with SUSAT (Live) and had a lesson on to how to handle and strip the 9mm Browning High-Power Pistol, never got to fire it though :(

  • @AirSquirrel1 1:27 THE GUY ON THE RIGHT IN THE DARK GREEN BERET I KNOW HIM ASWELL

  • @AIRSOFTHURTS101 Since when have the british used Thompsons?

  • @theGaryBhullar1 get a life you don't know anything about the sa80 because first of all it actually not called the l85a2 anymore its called the sa80 i should know i have used it for the last 8 years i am in the paras so fuck off you don't know anythink

  • @UKsniper4 good luck mate hope u come home safe

  • @drakieon cheers mate

  • did the a1 jam a lot?

  • 0:30 D: T_T you broke it!

  • At first I thought they were shooting Norwegian troops. my mistake

  • Very unreliable gun...If this guy was shooting at the gunbattle he probably would die.

  • @treydaimon try telling that to a british soldier and he would proberly blow your brains out.

  • @UKsniper4 Yeah right, whatever. Before "he would proberly blow my brains out" his L85 would jam or the magazine would came out from his rifle lol. This video clearly shows, how much L85 is unreliable. During one test G36 fired 20 000 times without cleaning. Can L85 do this? I do think sooooooo

  • @treydaimon thats bullshit i trust my life with the sa80 twice in afghanistan and this video clearly shows the norwegian soldier has not fired this rifle before and note this is the a1 version and firing 20,000 times without cleaning is just average for a assault rifle so fuck off because its obvious don't have a clue what your talking about.

  • @UKsniper4 It doesn't change the fact, that SA80 is shitty plastic toy...

  • @treydaimon ok mate why don't you come to the UK say that to a soldiers face and then when he blows you head off.will you still be saying that its a shitty plastic toy.

  • @UKsniper4 eat a dick british fuck

  • @babygangster911 you must have the wrong person i am not gay.

  • @treydaimon u do think so well thats a break through well done

  • wow thats what a call a lethal missfunction

  • 0:35 and 0:54 clearly show that it is an A1 :P

  • emmm thats not the sa80a1 its the a2

  • @armyrule09

Its the L85A1, anyone in the British Armed Forces know this is the A1, You can tell by the cocking handle, but your too stupid to see or read that as it was clearly pointed out on the video.

  • @AirSquirrel1 0:21 the women on the left is a sargent at newbry 17 platoon ACF

  • @TheNERFDUDE97

This is Kosovo, its a NATO Operation. No Army Cadet Forces are deployed.

These are British troops, The Rifles. Coaching Norwegian troops on the L85A1.

There are no women in this video, im starting to think your on the wrong end of the stick. You cannot actually ID anyone in this footage..

  • no it's A1, I am a cadet in the UK and have stripped cleaned and fired the A2, the cocking handle mainly has been cahnged among a few other partd as the design of the cocking handle actually bounced the odd empty case back into the chamber. (which happens in this video we see as he has to pick the empty casing out of the chamber) now the A2 has a much more useful shaped charging handle -get your facts right.

  • probably the nicest bull-pup gun on the world

  • rofl!

  • Bruker Norske tropper L85A1 til vanlig i noen operasjoner?

  • im sorry, but what a piece of shit!

  • @mcxznbv You're 17, you have no idea.

  • @Sevenoneight7 im just going on what i saw in the video. the mag was falling out, the charging handle was fucked up, jamming, etc. and i have read this elsewhere, and talked to royal marine vets who all say its a shit gun.

  • @mcxznbv The A1 had problems, yes, that is why the A2 had the minor improvements. These guys firing the rifles don't usually use them, it's probably their first time using the SA80 and the bullpup configuration, Norwegians use the FN FAL. The SA80A2, which I've had experience with, being in the Navy myself, is excellent, great light-weight and compact rifle.

  • @Sevenoneight7 alright, mate. im an american,(yes, i know, stereotypically), so i only have experience with the AR-15, specifically an M4A1. and i apologise for metaphorically shitting on some of your memories.

  • @mcxznbv No problem, I just don't like the SA80 to go down in history as a bad firearm, when it has been a vital tool in the British forces in the war against terror.

  • @Sevenoneight7 and the war against argentina ;)

  • @mcxznbv During the "Malvinas" conflict, the SA80 was still undergoing trials. The first L85 A1's were issued late '85-early '86.

The British were still using the FN-FAL (apart from SF) during the Falklands.

It has a good centre of gravity and is a very good weapon (even more so after the HK rebuild a decade or so ago).

  • Comment removed

  • @mcxznbv it's just a case of this guy not carrying out the correct IA drills. Literally the first drill on a misfire is to make sure the cocking handle is fully forward, then check the mag to see if it's in properly. Having said that, hitting it like this guy did generally isnt a good idea. Having fired the A2 (I realise this is in fact an A1) for a few years now, i can vouch for the L85's reliability, but only in the hands of someone who actually knows what they're doing.

  • @1350MS Thank you for the explanation. alright man,

  • @mcxznbv A weapon is only as good as you treat it. That soldier was doing the wrong drills , 90% of stoppages on a rifle are from the magazine , he loaded the mag wrong , thus unseatin g a round in the magazine which then wouldn't feed properly.

  • I never really liked the SA80's, well we used the A2, but in Afghan, sand got in them, jammed them up and well, they were shit! I loved the GPMG!

  • Such a thing will not happen in A2.

    I like SA80.

  • vi har jo hk 416 vi:D

  • Wow, clearing that weapon seems pretty cumbersome especially with the charging handle basically against his shoulder.

  • @imh11621 I bet it had a lot to do with user failure, he was probably not trained to use that weapon correctly or efficiently.

  • i think i would rather have a nerf gun if i had to go into combat XD

  • @see46

Id like to see you try....

  • @see46 Well taking into account your a yank... I would take a fully automatic SA80 to your shitty M16 any day......... there is not alot of difference between em either so saying that you would have a nerf gun to the sa80 your acting a twat...

  • @rvsgamer lol nah, actually my of choice would be a l85a2, great weapon and EXTREMELY underrated

  • @see46 The l85a2 is an amazing weapon since H&K got hold of it lol..... Doesn't jam much at all.....

  • @rvsgamer yeah mate i agree the fucking yanks think there so hard come to the uk and see what the SA80 can do the sa80 would piss all over the m16

  • 0:36: Double What the!? LOL!

  • hk416 are much better sa80 are just plane gay the british army should drop this weapon and get hk416

  • @258mickey

    answer: cost...

  • @AirSquirrel1 oh how much are they?

  • @258mickey

"The cost to replace was way to much. The total buy for SA80 was 332,092.At 92/93 prices this cost the MOD 384.16 million.

The Royal Navy have 7,864 weapons

    " " Marines have 8,350

    RAF have 42,221

    MOD PLOD have 1,878

    Army have 271,779 "

It costs just 384.16 million for the SA80 - this does not include armourers training, cleaning kits, weapons storage and mostly of all - its attachments.

  • @258mickey

Then just imagine bringing in a new rifle, new training, most of the attachments from the L85 can not fit on the R.I.S. Rail system and have only recently begun doing so. The amount of new kit involved is a ridiculous cost well over 400 million. So, these are not toys and the goverment does not have time - we are at war, and the cost is too much to handle due to the recession. Even if they are talking about it right now, there wont be any change for many years

  • @258mickey

ar-15 is a nice ergonomic platform but hk416 is already becoming old (there are nicer AR's out now) and the 416 didn't fair as good as other designs in the socom trials. also Norwegians are like the only one that can afford their overpriced weapons. compare the glock to a hk usp in price and performance and you will know what i mean..

also sooner or later the bullpup design will have matured and the britts will be glad that they are already used to the design from the sa80/l85.

  • @258mickey Its done us OK for the last 25 yrs and since the HK rebuild will see alot more service.

  • @258mickey dont worry,in a few months time the army will be throwing rocks or we just wont have an army thanks to the traitor liam fox!

  • i was thinking about moving to norway, because i am begining to hate it here. but since i have seen this vid, i think i am going to stay for a while...

  • @brisinger444

    hehehe

  • @AirSquirrel1

    ; )

  • thats a nice gun

  • I use this gun in a game called Combat Arms, it's quite good.

I'm guessing this comment will be deleted though.

  • yeh i know they are a forced to to be reconed with alright man, its just they look as if the are struggling with the L85a1 / or SA80 but then again the are not so good a rifle.i was having a we joke respect to the norweigens!

  • @Smitty1586

but there not. So, no it does not make them look good as they have many problems, worse than the L85A1
