  • how can i work in shanghai?! i have emailed alot of places to work in a school there but nothing seems to be available...perhaps its just the search or website agent im using

  • i loe this video

  • I want to apply in the Bridge program and teach English. The only question I have is , what kind of bachelors do you need to be accepted in the program? I am majoring in Psychology and a minor in Literature. Do I need to have an education background?

  • im from north carolina i am very seriously thinking about going to prague to earm my tefl certificate i have 3 questions

    1 is the course difficult?

2 is there alot of countries in europe that have english teaching openings? im not really interested in asia

3 how much money will i be spending the firsct couple months after landing in prague?

  • If you are interested in this you might also like TEFL-me.com a social network for TEFL teachers to meet and share.

  • she is latina if haven't notice

  • You are beautiful and seem to be pretty down to earth, which is rare in America...

  • We've started a TEFL social network where we are trying to build a community of TEFL teachers around the world to meet and share experiences and tips. If anyone is interested take a look at tefl-me.com. It covers lots of areas and has a blog, forum groups individual profiles and a map to indicate your location in the world to help you meet other TEFL teacher when you are on the other side of the world.

  • This is Shanghai Metro...probably one of the best things about living in the city....Priceless!

  • Too bad most of these countries don't like older people for teachers

  • Yeah, I understand it varies from school to school, I dont want to have to create all my own lesson plans for the whole year lol :) or at least not the first year I teach. Im hoping to teach in China, not sure where, but preferably not Beijing.

  • She seems to be Australian (yay) One thing caught my attention, it appeared to me that she was handed a lesson plan, does that mean the lessons are prepared for her?

  • @hostyle0 It really depends on the school you work for. Some schools will have lesson plans that they want you to follow, while others will except you to create all of the lessons for the entire year! Where are you thinking about teaching abroad?

    BridgeTEFL

  • @BridgeTEFL I have taken a TEFL course in my country. Do you think it is easy to teach abroad? Is there any better place for that? I hope you reply this one. Thanks!

    Bruno Coriolano

  • @hostyle0 She seems to be Australian? But she doesn't have an Australian accent, she has an American accent. And why "yay"? The thought of Australians teaching foreigns to speak with their horrible, annoying, incorrect Australian accent is really scary!

  • In my school we only employ people who speak the Queen's English. No American, Australian, Scottish, or any regional accent. I suppose its one of the downsides of being a Britsh colony for so long. Everyone i deal with is sooooo posh

  • I will move to Shanghai in October and I would love to get to know you as a friend. I am German and I have been living in Canada for 6 years. I love your style and ethusiasm.

  • Very good.

  • Good. Chinese government hire English teachers and foreign language teachers to teach Chinese primary , middle and high school students English and other foreign language now .

  • I would like to do this but I want a safe, responsible company that I can get my online certificate from......any suggestions?

  • Great video!

I will be going to college to get my BA in a degree like TEFL and then a certificate in TEFL.

I hope it will be worth it! It looks like a lot of fun.

  • eat carefully enjoy your china in china im going to china also next year with my class, but im chinese so wont have much trouble talking with the locals:p very good movie you are indeed a open minded person respect!

  • I loved the vid! I'm considering doing this but I not so sure. I don't think that I'll make enough money. Is it really worth getting your TEFL to do this?If you've done this before I would really appreciate your advice.

  • Hello HUD725,

You can make a pretty decent salary in most Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Where do you want to teach?

    BridgeTEFL

  • I am hispanic so I would love to teach in one of those countries to be of better assistance to them. I heard latin countries don't pay well though. Before I teach in a latin country I would like to go anywhere else in the world to experience a culture that I never have before. An asian or african country would be nice. can I ask where you would suggest that I earn mt TEFL?? which organizations have a higher standard?

  • @BridgeTEFL hi, but i believe there are some currency value issues, for instance a canadian english teacher teaching overseas in China earn in RMB that is considered a lot in china... but i think a student in canada earning money on part time would equivalent the same amount as the teacher... perhaps this is why people go to korea or taiwan or japan.

  • @BridgeTEFL Which Middle Eastern countries are taking on English teachers the way that China is?

  • what was the name of the company that assisted you?

  • @raderanthony it says in the beginning...

  • Why is she teaching in China? The pay is so low and so many parts of China still have that depressed, poor quality, communist construction look.

I just read an article that said the average pay for a native English teacher in China is only 400 to 600 yuan a month!

In American dollars, that translates to just $58.57 to $87.85. You can live okay in China but you can't save up enough money to matter.

The pay is much better in Taiwan. In Japan, the cost of living is too high.

  • haha u idiot

even the domestic wage of a street cleaner is more than that

its more like 8000 Yuan per month and can go up to 12,000

Which is roughly 1500 USD. btw... China is far cheaper to live in than Taiwan or Japan. Getting paid more just means u live in a society that also requires u to spend more.

e.g average salary in Manhatten is 200 000+

But just to buy restaurant food is 100+ there.

  • @PRCForever So that being said, if you receive 1,500 per month how much do you have left after you spend money for food, place to stay, etc. every month?

I'd really appreciate your reply. Thank you.

    Masha

  • Hello @Crzeimasha,

It really depends on your lifestyle. Many teachers can save anywhere from $500-$1,000 per month.

    Kind regards,

    BridgeTEFL

  • @PRCForever have you ever even lived in manhatten?? wth stop making up salaries b/c I assure you the avg salary is not 6 figures and you can get cheap food depending where you go

  • its such as shame that she didnt show us the city. I Taught in South Korea last and I am looking to going back out to Asia again this year. This is one of the cities being looking into though i am considering Hong Kong to be a better choice

  • What is the name of the placement company you went through?

  • I am about to start my training, and i am hoping to go to china ^ ^ this is an amazing video

  • can you tell me more about "Bridge wood tech"?

  • i want to do a tefl course when i finish school next year and i want to work in japan.

how would i go about doing that.

i do honours english in school but im a c-b student.
