My favourite sopranos are Yma Sumac, Diana Damrau, Sumi Jo and Monserrate Caballé.

But there's no doubt the best soprano voices in metal are Tarja Turunen, Vibeke Stene and Floor Jansen.

No. I like Vibeke more than Tarja. Tarja is great though. hmm...Floor...is another thing. I think that Floor is the best sopranoes in the world for singing, but I like Vibeke more for her style and her atmosphere, plus her sirenic echoing voice. that's why she's the best to me.

I liked the old Tristania most, when Morten and Vibeke was in the band, so this video is a great memory for that :)

As for the growls, I'm not that huge fan of them, and perhaps it's a bit sad that Vibeke didn't sing more when she has such a wonderful voice. But of course, Tristania has their own style, and all respect to that ;D They will always be known as some of the greatest bands in the gothic metal-style, I think:)

Vibeke Stene is a superior female vocalist in every sense of the word. However, the guitars sound like plastic in the 3 first albums and the growls are borderline terrible. That's my own opinion though, some might love them but seriously, Tristania would had done well with a vocals like Amorphis: Tales from a thousand lakes
