Ah ha! Now I understand how this song ended up in an episode of, "The Secret Life of Us." Nash Edgerton is the brother of Joel Edgerton, who was a star on the show. Interesting.
I'm sorry I just realised that the Director Nash Edgerton could read my comment! Truly awsome filmclip! Did u come up with the concept? Its like being stupid enough to date a Milat and then pissing her off! Truly Australian in concept, I love it! (and I just live down the road from the real Milat compound.. which is probably why I immediately think Belangalo National Park when I see the clip to Liar). Bravo!
Haven't seen this in ages. It's certainly up there with the top videos of all time. Up there with the Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry Clips. The Nash Edgerton version of 'The Sweater Song' or and 'California' by Spike Jonze.
i used to stay up late at nite wen i was younger and watch every clip and this was always my fav and i didnt even know who they were, i thought they were an american band..lol. The film clip is still one of my all time favs and i wudn't really say this type of music is the kind im into. really original filmclip and great acting and direction, it was way ahead of its time.
always one of my absolute favourite music vids, I remember distinct anger after seeing it on rage one night and not being able to see it again for years haha, brilliant work dudes
really nice song, but what's really great is the video. it's amazing how the whole video is just one long shot. brilliant! that must have taken a lot of pre-planning and preparation. btw, how many takes did you do until you got it right?
thanks for the reply guys. i've been watching your shorts and music videos and i'm loving them. you guys are very talented film makers!
one more question, in this video, were your actors lip-syncing to a sped up track? i'm asking that cause the whole video is in slow motion but the lipsyncing is perfect.
yes track is sped up and pitched down (so you can still understand it) then we shot @ 40fps. so when we transferred @ 25fps the song and the image matched.
thank you so much. really appreciate you taking the time to reply. i've been watching some of your videos over and over again, specially "Good Dancers", "Something Borrowed, Something Blue", this video and your short film Spider. Spider is really off the hook. keep up the wonderful work guys.
who is this guy making up a band like this eskimo joe to me its something that disappoints me cause that is my culture and we now call ourselfs inuit it be the same thing as calling a black dude a nigger and a white guy a nazi just trying to make a point here before anyone gets mad at this comment
yes the The IF Thing was real to a point. they gave us $5000 and we said we'd only do it if they gave us the money in cash. then we used it like that in the film and ended up with $3.42. as far as the music videos the budgets vary.

It's funny that the original "Black Fingernails" video was, like, banned, but this video was allowed to win awards. ;D
