  • My favorite Final Fantasy nay, one of my favorite games of all time.

  • Totally love this game, would love to play it again. Few weeks ago I bought FF XIII and I left it on my shelf, it's boring. No magic on it, and repetitive soundtracks.

FF IX my first and favorite FF.

  • I know it has a big fan base and all, but I really disliked FFX. It's kinda annoying that FFIX has to be lumped with that game when people discuss the "good old FF games". FFX was just a crap game, and was the first to feature lame voice acting; idiotic characters like Tidus didn't help either. FFIX however was a magical game, and the last great FF game.

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed i partially agree with you on the voice acting but if you overlook that the story line was pretty well done and the battle system was good same with the lvling up system. but if you compare the voice acting from x as to xiii you could agrue that x was not to bad. i personally think that every game before ten (including ten) where the last good one's to be made due to the fact that a lot of people still go back and replay them where as today you finish it and thats all their is.

  • FF VII, FF IX and FF X are nothing short of a genius games! love 'em all!

  • ¿What about a final fantasy with beatrix like protagonist? FFIX-2 or FFXV :)

  • Thumbs up if you want Hiroyuki Ito (Director of FFVI, FFIX and FFXII) to direct FFXV.

  • people loves final fantasy VII too much , i never played it , i played just his one , and i think not i think , it's the best RPG i played ever , i felt too much emotiones with this game

  • @BestMetalMomentsTV: You should try it. Best RPG ever. Yes, better than 9.

  • @chinopisces maybe but i know that im so lucky in my childhood that i didn't missed playing this masteripiece

  • @BestMetalMomentsTV: Oh, I agree. One of my favorites also. Going back even further, FFVI is also one of the greatest ever made, and had almost twice the characters in your party.

But if you can play the first 15 minutes of FFVII, I'm sure you will be hooked. Heck, just watch a YouTube video of it.

  • @chinopisces i will do even i should played it in my childhood but np

  • This game is amazing, its the only FF that I have played twice :D

  • FF 7 8 9 are alike FF 10 is on it's own ff10-2 is aswell FF12 and FF 13 are similar this is all gameplay wise battle screens and whatever

however the story the emotion that was put into FF 7 8 9 is more intense there was more Love put into you you could feel the love and attention to detail you loved the charicters you felt for them you where actually involed emotionally FF10 there was still that spark but it dimmed FF 10-2 nah FF 12 meh FF 13 the spark came back for me fang and villine plot

  • ff13 was a real masterpiece if you gave it a chance, why is everyone hating on it.

  • @xJT94x Simply because the only thing that FF13 has of the entire series is its name..

  • @LeonheartCloud91 monsters, music, and character design are alike to the other FF games.

  • @xJT94x Music FFXIII not include any compositions by original series composer Nobuo Uematsu, so music isn't the same..and I'm a musician. Characters like "vanille, fang, hope, sazh" have nothing similar to the other series..they have superficial background stories, and phisically only Lightning seems to be a "female Cloud". But the principal matter is the gameplay..how could you say that FFVII, VIII, IX, X has a similar gameplay with the XIII?.-.

  • @xJT94x For me it lacked the feeling, i felt like i was playing any other RPG, not a FF game. The music was wrong, the battle was wrong. I find FF 13 an ok game, but i understand that every FF fan dislikes it, as i do, since i am longing back to the PS1 days...

  • i think this was the real Final Final fantasy... all that came after...were "lower quality"

  • Awesome!!! :) XD XD

  • FFIX is one of the most underrated ff games out there, and it's a real shame because it was really good. And it's a whole lot better than the newer ff games..

  • This is FF, not the crap we're served today...

  • I remember being in school and wanting to ask one of my musically inclined friends to perform this piece on piano. Of course, I never did. I haven't forgotten though. I intend to learn to play the piano or keyboard in due course and mark my words I will perfect this piece before I die.

I'll play it as an homage to my youth and an ode to the genius of Uematsu. With all the games coming out nowadays I miss that man's Midas touch. He really did make incredible music.

  • Meh, still not as good as Protect My Devotion

  • NOBUO UEMATSU = ALMOST ALL THE FINAL FANTASY MUSIC EVER MADE!

  • dude fuck i love this game so much

  • i instantly had to look this up when we were reading hamlet in class and laertes said "O rose of May"

  • i wish beatrix got more remixes....

  • amazing

  • Such a nice sound track.

  • I hear this and my heart swells... long live Final Fantasy...

  • rose of may aka loss of me

  • @ the final360 no matter which ff u started u will love the whole franchise anyway. i started with ff7 and i love the whole franchise after that ^_^

  • I cant get over that this girl beat the team, 4 times, while this music played.

  • @CartooNwrap yeah no shit. i leveled my characters up before running out on the story and still got my ass owned.

  • Awesome music thanks Uematsu and Squaresoft ;)

  • FF IX was my first FF, this FF was the reason i began to love FF.....

  • @TheFinal360 me too. It has been 10 years since the first time i played ff9. Still love it

  • @zjimbo so do i =)

  • @TheFinal360 hey thats the same thing as me !m thats the one i played first its a great game and i still going to play it :)

  • @TheFinal360 Me too I remember when I was like 8 I played it at my brothers friends house...I was so amazed by it.

  • @TheFinal360 @TheFinal360 Wasn't my first but it was a really beautiful FF ^^

  • @TheFinal360 Me too! Final Fantasy IX was my first F.F. and it's the one real best Ever Final Fantasy ever made. I Lvoe the game, the story, the music of Nobuo Uematsu and all of this wondeful Story! Someone should make a movie!

  • @TheFinal360 ME TOOO !!!!!!

  • @TheFinal360 /sigh...kids :P

  • @TheFinal360 tu yo somos muy parecidos..

  • @TheFinal360 FF IX was my first final fantasy too..ur so right..the best FF in square :P

  • I have played every Final Fantasy game through at least once. I like the new graphics and voice acting and all, BUT I prefer the old battle systems. The gameplay just isn't the same in the last few games. The interactivity is cool, but the FF franchise started on the NES and I think it should be proud of those roots. Using the traditional FF party system requires strategy and is just more fun than real-time play. I honestly would rather the graphics and game design go back to 16 bit level than

  • @snowcrusher7 A franchise as old as this one has to make compromise somewhere. A lot of people these days play games like Devil May Cry and they're unfamiliar with the traditional battle systems. To someone who has never played the series a battle like that [a strategic turn-based battle] would seem slow and uninteresting. The designers have to keep both audiences in mind and that's something hard to do.

But this is also coming from someone who is terrible at turn-based games.

  • I would love for this game to get remade, be it on PS3, Vita or 3DS. Even though I'm sure that FFVII will be remade first I hope that this, the most popular final fantasy, reaches a new audience.

  • Everytime i hear this song it makes me cry :'[ don't tell my girlfriend x(

  • ff ix is a masterpiece

  • FF IX will forever be the best FF ever made really ... Music-wise, and gameplay-wise and storyline-wise ... Thanks so much for uploading this ... I love Beatrix XD

  • this is one of my favorite games ever

  • The calming theme before she beats u senseless

  • Such beautiful music.

  • I've only played FF8 & 9, both fantastic games.. I heard FF7 was great too. These games are easily in my top 5 games ever.

Memories for life that's for sure, and kinda epic on second thought because what's supposed to be "just a game" is part of my life, I'm sure I'm not the only one who have spent more than hundreds hours on this.

These epic game seem to have disappear along with my childhood. Now it's all about graphic & DLC & sub fee.

  • @Astamalana I don't think that anyone who hasn't grown up playing games would understand, but I am right there with you, believe me. It shows how the best games really can aspire to be works of art that influence receptive minds in profound ways.

(For me the best RPGs to have come out in the last few years has to be the Persona series without a shadow of a doubt.)

  • @Astamalana Also, yes, VII was fantastic, and I'm not just saying that because it was my first RPG, honest! If you can withstand the aged graphics and the association with a fanatic subculture of fanboys I really would encourage you to play it.

  • @zoeyzmygirl

I dont understand. Why do we have to choose between 2 amazing games? Cant we agree that both games are amazing, and unequalled by any other series? FF9 is one of the best games ive ever played, but so is FF7

  • i can play this on my iphone piano YAY

  • My jaw totally dropped today when I heard this song (and "At Zanarkand") in my spinning class...

  • o.O FFIX is my fourth favorite of the series, however this is my favorite song out of all :3

  • Rose of May always reminded me a lot of Greensleeves, the classic English piece. You could actually sing the words of Greensleeves over this tune. But I don't mean to criticise, it's a very powerful piano piece.

  • @Moltarr So does Vamo' Alla Flamenco, there's a real greensleeves theme in this game.

  • Very Beautiful SoundTrack ^^

  • Is it just me, or do Kate Covington's lyrics just pop into your head when you listen to this song?

  • @SuperSasquatch777 Yup, I've sung her lyrics along with the song to! D:

  • FF9 is still to this day my favorite title in the series. I honestly adore it; the characters, the story, the settings, the music, everything. I'm still somewhat disappointed how 7 is always regarded as the best in the series when despite it being a good game it's most certainly not. 9 to me was, is, and will always be the best in the series. As for this song; it really sheds a lot of light on Beatrix's character. She's my favorite in the game and it was good to see her in a different light.

  • A lot of people were put off FF9 by the art deco of the game. Shame they missed out on one of the best if not THE best (imo) one

  • im trying to beat this game on epsxe emulator 1.7 and im on disk 3 at the part where ur i kuja mansion n u have o fight the rock thing

  • this.... is hardest thing to listen i have ever listened to...

    and also the most beautiful.

  • Really, anyone who says that the FFVII story is not complicated must be a genius; it could have been made easier if they didn't have so much irrelevant dialogue. It was just talk talk talk talk blah blah blah blah. I'm not saying the story was bad, faaaaar from it, but did it make me think "ok...what just happened?" erm, yes!

The FFIX story was so clear and 100% of the dialogue was relevant, and, in my opinion, just better anyway.

  • Such a great song!

  • This game is awesome. The only thing I didn't like in it was Zidane.

  • @Zoeysmygirl

The story of FF7 is more complex and the characters had also a deep story. What do you know about the past of Mahagon or Quina for example? Nothing.

  • @SonsOfMalice

Do you need to know the past to enjoy the present? I disagree heavily that the plot of FF7 was more complex, only the characters were. And the background story of Zidane and Cloud are quite similar in many ways.

  • @SonsOfMalice

You're right, but it doesn't matter. FFIX was never a game of complexities (in fact that's been my only gripe, how easy the game is. I remember beating the game with level 40 characters!) Okay, I manipulated the meaning of complex, but yeah.

FFIX is just a game that I think kind of touches you more than the other ones. That's not to say the other ones don't; FFIX just does a better job of it (and much of its appeal relies on this). That's why FFIX is (relatively) polarizing

  • @xVishDaFish

That's all my opinion of course. And I think FFVII was an awesome game, too. But for some reason it seemed to fit the kind of stereotyped generalizations of what an RPG should be (and it kind of sets the benchmark for them), while FFIX just offers something else. Sure, Aeris dying was sad, but the Pandemonium/You're Not Alone scene absolutely relied on your attachment to the characters (and was otherwise cheesy).

And to those for whom it worked, well they just seem to love FFIX

  • @xVishDaFish My only question is...why the hell didn't they just use a Phoenix Down to revive her?

  • @FuctUpKid23 phoenix down = incapacitation. aeris = dead.

  • @kempy7777 I dunno. Jenova was DECAPITATED, yet somehow Sephiroth kept bringing *her* back to life. Maybe it has to do with being a calamity from the sky, but darnit, if he revive her, why not... why not Aeris? ::Breaks down and sobs::

  • Check it out (watch?v=Bw_Ao-7vBxo) !! She is just awesome ! Her cover is just unbelievable <3

  • Isn't that song called 'Loss of me' and not 'Roses of May'?

I know the lyric version of katethegreat19 (RESPECT!!!), but as I remember, the song is called 'Loss of me', as I have got the Soundtrack.

  • @mulle871 It's a translation error. They translated the Japanese as "ross ov mae" which they changed to "Loss of Me" when it was actually "Rose of May".

  • Thumbs up if you want that everybody could have their own opinions without somebody always complainting about which game is better. We should rather think what brings us together than just being ignorant to others who have different opinions. I'm sure we all still agree that VII and IX are games which awesomeness words can't describe. Of course we can say our opinion about which is better but not make a childish conflict about it!

  • @shamif I agree. All the old FF games are great, none is better than the others.

  • @shamif

If only people listened to people like you.

  • @shamif Man , I totally agree , these guys are so ridiculous...

OF COURSE IX IS BETTER THAN VII

  • @zeahduh Hah! That was good one :D . But honestly I can't just decide which is the best Final Fantasy. But I know that everyone of them are great (through I to X).

  • @shamif I wish I could thumb you up many times for this. I'm so sick of this stupid "monomaniac FF" fanboyism.

  • @TheEsaful really dont hav eto badmouth one

  • @Satsiki Would you call your children "little Satsikis" just because they are yours?:) And I was mistaken by this" crying over joy" thing. Some people still believe that Vivi was still alive and those final farewell was Garnets words.

  • @Satsiki I hope it wasn't sarcasm:) He "stopped moving" as other black mages. Altough I'm curious how was he breeding.

  • Isn't General Beatrix fucking awesome?

  • @Satsiki But Vivi is dead, isn't he? Those lines at the end were his final farewell, right?

  • The only problem with this game, was the people expecting something else, square wanted to go back to their roots, so they decided to make characters more cartoonish and story more fantasy like, like old times FF. People were expecting something like FFX when FFIX arrived, thats why so many people dislike it. Same with The Legend of Zelda WindWaker, so many were expecting adult animation instead of Cellshaded.

  • Ain't it Originally called the Loss of Me? o.o

  • How was 9 one of the lowest selling in the series? I love it so much..

  • @MattRH16

Unfortunately, it sold less than 7, 8 and 10. It's about on equal footing as 12.

  • EXCALIBUR II...

  • Best final fantasy ever made...if completed 100% ,it's just amazing. The story, the places, the graphics, the characters, the weapons, everything about it is great .I think I've gone thru the whole game at least 20 times, the music, ozma, the different endings.MASTERPIECE!!

  • everyone is ranting about the best FF game. Can't we just agree on the fact, that the whole series deserves its credit and not just one game?

  • @ThePierrekirbyfanboy

I disagree with you and say that every aspect that you have said is better in Final Fantasy VII is actually better than IX. Also I prefer Zidane over the almost emo Cloud anyday xD. I think that the order is IX, VII, VI, X, and IV for my top five. It is very hard to decide because I love them all!

  • soooooo beautiful..

  • Thumbs up if you want Hiroyuki Itou (Director of FFVI, FFIX, and FFXII) to direct FFXV.

  • @Galvanizer67 Dude, FFXIV hasen't even been announced yet. It's just FFXIII part 2. Slow down a little

  • @ColdRiceBall Dude... FFXIV has BEEN out. You just haven't heard of it because it's a crappy MMO that averaged about 5/10 on most sites.

  • @ColdRiceBall Different teams, bro. FFXIV is already out for PC and a PS3 version is coming out soon. FFXIII-2 is being made by the same team that made FFXIII. Go to the Square Enix page on Wikipedia and read the "Production teams" section.

    Team 1 = FFX, FFX-2, FFXIII, FFXIII-2

Team 3 = FFXI Online, FFXIV Online

    Team 4 = FFXII, FFXV

  • @Galvanizer67 i acually want Yoshinori Kitase the director of ffvii to direct it...... but if he was the director of vi... that mite not be a bad thing....

  • @awininegeno Yoshinori Kitase stopped directing FF games a long time ago. He has become a producer and has chosen Motomu Toriyama as his successor as a FF director. Search "Yoshinori Kitase" on Google and read his Wikipedia page.

  • @Galvanizer67 i know sadly... :( VI was amazing tho, if he is able to produce something a fraction as great as that, that would be amazing....

  • @awininegeno Something like FFVI and FFIX but with the FFXII battle system would be amazing, IMO. Hiroyuki Ito is a good director, bro. Have faith in FFXV being a good game if he's spearheading it. :)

  • @Galvanizer67

Sorry had to give that a thumbs down. Final Fantasy 12 while absolutely a blast gameplay wise...was easily the worst of the bunch as far as character interaction and story. I wasn't even aware those three games had the same director because ff6 and ff9 are the two absolute BEST as far as characters and their interaction. I pretty much got to the point where you could go beat ff12 but because I frankly just didn't care what happened in the story I saw no point and didn't. shrug

  • @BarstoolBlues33 Your loss, bro. What FFXII lacks in character interaction, it makes up for in amount on interactive NPCs (over 1,000 in the whole game) and quality of voice acting during cut-scenes. FFXII has the best dialogue in the series.

  • 7 people miss the like button..assholes...

  • FF 9 definantly has some of the better music in the FF game series

  • vivi ftw!

  • So: Cait Sith vs Quina

    Aeris vs Vivi

    Cid vs Steiner

    Yuffie vs Zidane

    ?

  • @Isaac10best Quina

    Aeris

    Draw

    Zidane

  • @whatthefuck66666 Seems about right, but I can't answer it accurately cuz I'd be too biased and let all FF7 characters win even though 9 and 7 are like tied for first place of my favorite Final fantasy games

  • @whatthefuck66666 vivi would own Aeris in one spell though

  • Oh, and ain't it sad ALL THREE are out of the modern Final Fantasy projects?

There literally IS NO Final Fantasy without at least ONE of them involved in the process!

LEARN IT, SQUARE ENIX! SERIOUSLY! LEARN IIIIT!

  • And when the Rose of May Blooms, you should be Protecting your Devotion :)

Final Fantasy IX, where Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Amano worked in a perfect symbiosis after such a long while they hadn't made any FF game together anymore.

Well, at least Amano was out for VII and VIII's InGame Character design, having him return in 9 was what added so much epicness to the game.

Holy Triumvirate of Final Fantasy: Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobou Uematsu, Yoshitaka Amano

  • une des plus belle de square enix merci nobuo =D sublime musique

  • Love Beatrix :)

  • 7 PEOPLE ARE FUCKING IDIOTS

  • This such a good song. It brings back so many memories of when I played FF9. It was a truly unbelievable masterpiece of a game. It was such a good game that I don't understand how so many people believe that FF7 is better. I just don't get why so many people prefer games like that when they could have games like FF9! I miss that game. Now, I only wish to relive the moments of playing it. Thumbs up if you loved FF9 and think that it's better than FF7.

  • @Zoeysmygirl Because FF7 as a more compelling story, better written characters and the most awesome villain in videogame history. It delivers in every aspect.FF9 on the other hand has an uninpressive villain, the characters basic traits and arcs of development aren't necessarily anything you wouldn't encounter in earlier FFs. And you can see the plot and character elements being recycled from previous gamesthere are elements obviously drawn from VI, VII, and VIII all through the plot.

  • @ThePierrekirbyfanboy lolz at Sephiroth beign impressive XD

  • @Zoeysmygirl dude you can buy the game off playstation network... (if you have a ps3)

  • @Zoeysmygirl Too bad that PSN is gone, cause you couldv'e downloaded it in the PS3 or psp :P

  • @Swedboy2010 It's not gone.....It's just down for a bit.

Some hacker got in and stole a lot of users' info, so they shut it down for a bit in order to beef up the security.

  • @Zoeysmygirl the only real issue i had with ff9 is that the finishers were terrible compared to the previous games in the series. Other than that it had virtually everything more superior than FF7 though a great game in its own right

  • @Zoeysmygirl Stop with that FF7 bullshit, both are part of the greatest video game serie of all time. May God bless FF9 AND FF7.

  • @whatthefuck66666 God only plays Counter-Strike, he's not interested in character and story driven games like Final Fantasy. :/

    Total philistine, that guy...

  • @Zoeysmygirl boooo!

  • Comment removed

  • @Music1222 Personally, I didn't find 10 that fun. I didn't like the characters, they overused certain elements to further the story, such as kidnapping Yuna a little to many times for one game, and Tidus just infuriates me. His hair looks stupid, his laugh is horrendous, and the way he acts is just stupid. He's the main character, but I hated him so much I wanted to kill him. Repeatedly. FF8 was good, and my only problem was the Junctioning system, and that wasn't even that bad.

  • @Zoeysmygirl

I thought 10 was ok.. And yes I agree that Tidus is obnoxious but my main problem was that it was too short and it didn't have a lot of sidequests. And that was fixed with the International version

  • @Zoeysmygirl and i guess you never played FF 8, right? pah...

  • @TheSpeeeeed I played, and enjoyed, FF 8. I found it pretty fun, enjoyed the story, and thought it was a good game. FF 8 is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, but the Junctioning system is a little annoying. It was a good idea to have that much customizability, but it could have been pulled off better.

  • @Zoeysmygirl Now you can. It's on the playstation 3 store at a bargain price of £8 :D. along with FF8, 7, 6 and 5

  • @Zoeysmygirl

Final Fantasy 9 was so much better than 7! It's too bad that 7 received so much hype, while 9 is severely underrated... This game reminds me of younger days, when there was not a care in the entire world. We lived for these games back then! May FF9 live forever!

  • @Zoeysmygirl I love them both, personally, they're so much different I can't compare them...but I agree with you on the fact that FF9 is one of the BEST games out there...

  • @Zoeysmygirl it's a magical thing called amazon.com (or ebay or craigslist)

  • @Zoeysmygirl FF9 was more traditional, mystical and magical the the way that the original final fantasy series was supposed to be. I think FF7 was equally as good in its own way, especially the Music, except for the fact that Cloud had a nervous breakdown every few hours in the storyline.

I thought FF8 was terrible and took on the worst possible slopped together characteristics of FF7.

  • love Kate's version of this :)

  • sad melody...

  • Gives me Chills... when i here the radiant music being played i think of my childhood ... ( cries ) ='(

  • Ther putting this theme into Dissidia 012 now all we need is Beatrix herself.

  • @PmEvert I don't think this is on Dissidia Duodecim.

  • @lacusxmia Its coming on as a dlc.

  • @PmEvert

Good god that has me SO hyped! So much good music coming to Duodecim... Hopefully it reaches North America too.

  • Square is finished. Don't misunderstand, I LOVE final fantasy, but the magic has gone. Now, I didn't play FF 1-5 but I did play 6-13, and believe me ENIX have lost it. All that concerns them is churning out spinoff's as fast as possible in order to make money. Several sequels/prequels to FFVII which weren't needed, FFX-2 which again, wasn't needed, Dissidia is a load of crap, and now we apparently have FFXIII-2 planned. SquareEnix has NO CREATIVE TALENT LEFT!

  • @TheTrueRevan

I disagree about dissidia. That's one of the single best fighting games I have ever had the pleasure to play. Its completely different than any other.

  • @TheTrueRevan Hold on a minute there. I would agree with you in the most part; however, Crisis Core was AWESOME and a truly worthy prequel to FFVII. Believe me, I was ready to hate it and judge it. haha. It was fantastic though. Check it out if you get the chance. You won't be disappointed.

  • @nothing980454 Yup I get what you mean about CC, it was good, but what I was trying to say is that it wasn't really needed. None of these prequels/sequels were needed. Final fantasy games NEVER had continuations until SquareSoft became SquareEnix. Not to mention that Enix fired a great number of SquareSoft's original staff. Just my opinion ;)

  • I love this OST. I looked for it on ebay and finally I found it. I've got it original and I'm very content with this. I love all the final fantasy videogames, but in my opinion, this is the best OST from them all.

  • @kosmostragedy Agree FFIX is just magic and have the best ost of all FF ;)

  • My favorite piece of music from the Final Fantasy Series, when i get around to buying a keyboard i want to learn this song as well of Nobuo Uematsu other works there just simply no better music composer out there.

  • yo FF9. Im really happy for you and imma let you finish, but FF6 has the best OST of all the series. OF ALL THE SERIES!

  • @DrCowenstein I agree, the critics have hailed it like the God of all FF soundtracks and have said that it's one of the best soundtracks ever composed for any videogame. Uematsu also said it was the most challenging in all his work in FF.

  • @DrCowenstein Although Uematsu DID say that his favorite soundtrack was FF9's
