Good video - A week ago I bought some solar panels on SolarPenny their prices are better than online at other companies or eBay. If you are looking for low cost solar I recommend them for any preppers on a budget.
Exactly they storage garbage it blows my mind but it is so much easier to buy garbage than do it yourself.
Next year I can't wait to buy my 19 qt canner it will be the best $500 I will ever spend.
Personally I'm only interested in putting healthy items in my body, and it's not because of paranoia, since I have I actually felt physically better since I made the decision years ago....
I wish more people would see this especially women to see how they can set up a proper food storage. If more people were prepared for hard times people wouldn't be thinking how they could steal other peoples food. Not a great plan to steal, get your own food!
very prepared -! but you shouldnt show everyone what you got, if i lived down your road and was starving, your house would be the first place i would rock up to , and people do strange and aggressive things when they are starving and in a thirst psychosis.!
There are also things that are IN THE MOMENT GETS. Such as FRUIT TREES, WALKING ONIONS, And small animals recently shot. Dont forget chickens and goats. A BB GUN of good quality will be a good item. And dont buy EXPENSIVE things or hard to repair or replace items. BE GOOD!
We too have food storage but not as much as these folks have. Got to work on it little by little. After last Friday's political, bulshit of if or not the government is going to shut down, there I do no longer wonder, why some religious institutions teach their members to be self reliant. Honestly, I could do without government, but not without my VA pension check. On which I depend on.
My question is: what about the nuclear winter? what about the radiation? with mega cunami, earthquakes and stuff... with no one to prevent the leaking the radio active a\materials from the nuclear plants, how you'll protect from that, i mean half of the globe is in panic from 2 nuclear plants in japan which are damaged by the tsunami what happens when over 90% of the nuclear plants will leak and no one will be able to prevent... you'll need shelter underground, but for how long?
@lobo9er not at all, i seriously asked that question... so i want to know the potential solution, the radiation is some very serious problem, especially in potentially "world in chaos"
@ussdefiant27 you can't prepare for everything. you just do your best to prepare for what you can. nuclear winter ... no amount of food storage is going to get you through that, my friend!
@stompySharpNpointy why do you think so? after global apocalyptic disaster the world will be much more worse place than LA and NY in the movies with snake pliskin :D
I am so very new to food storage and it is great to have a real wife and mom that is showing us how to do food storage in the real world. I am so wishing that I had a basement right now but I do have a garage and plan on doing some restructuring for my food storage! Thank you for all you do.
Nice hoarding and vid about preparedness. Other than a couple of sane voices, sad to find so many nonsensical comments when all you did was trying to share some useful tips. Nobody is able to comprehend the future and be prepared 100% should SHTF events happen, but hey kudos to you, you and family are in better position than those who are not prepared. Guns? sure, not for hunting and looting but for DEFENSE. "Where is the coming of the great flood, Noah?" ... they mocked.
Russia has announced they will not export any wheat for a year. Mexico lost 80% of crops due to unusual freeze and will not be exporting food. Egypt shut down Suez canal, no exporting. Australia lost large percentage of livestock due to floods. No exporting beef and wool. America imports far more than it exports. Time to wake up. Good luck everyone!
make sure with all that stored food you have a can opener too! the other day at work i brought me a can of ravioli and realized there was no can opener at work lols
Wow you are prepared. Every time I want to start saving up food people make me feel stupid. You have to understand people here are very Mexican. I'm hispanic and live south of Texas and people here are like that...
@TheMatrixGuy101 just because your culture/family doesnt live that way doesnt mean you cant start a new trend. start by pointing out how convenient having 1 month supply is in case you are sick or unemployed. i did it by pointing out articles in the papers locally about water main breaks and gas leaks where people couldnt get to the stores. every little bit helps.
@lkcheat lol yeah you are right. People here where I live are so use to comfort and luxury. I bet if 2012 would happen which it will they will be in trouble.

Thank you so much for sharing this info. I'm new to couponing and long term food storage so this is helping a lot. For now we're starting slow until we move into a place with a bit more storage space. Just a few months and I'm looking forward to stocking up!!
@hemna ; Exactly. And for that kind of money, they really do not hold much. If you have to store a decent amount of goods, you are easily looking at over $1000.00 for those shelves. Money that could be spent on more supplies. I'm going to look into building a rack system from wood.
@USFA45LC I wish you luck. I'll go with the guys who already engineered a sturdy product that's going to cost no more than what yours probably will in the end and save many hours of work and frustration.

Sounds like a tongue piercing to me. If you're looking for valuable storable food and a way to secure your own financial independence, you'll want to look for "emergencyfoodsecurity" in facebook. Just watch the 3 minute video and see what you think. You can lock down your food costs and pay yourself first!
Looks great! I built a similar Y2K Room over 10 years ago. The problem that I encountered was that I did not cycle the supplies often enough and found some corroded cans on the top shelf. Even a six pack of soda was completely empty having leaked out through pinholes! I got in the habit of marking all can tops and containers with the month/year written in magic marker. I was very surprised at how old some food was. Time flies!
Tell your husband he's a lucky man, not from a looks stand point (you certainly get a passing grade there) but rather from an intelligent woman point of view, a woman who is proactive and takes the time to ensure her husband and family are well fed and well taken care of. This is rare these days and very refreshing to see....
@JesseusM Security is a big part of the prepper lifestyle. Most of us have assault rifles with armor piercing capability for exactly that situation. I myself have an AK47 which I intend to convert to full auto once the economy collapses.
Obviously we wouldn't have a stockpile of food without adequate security.
Good video. Can you review the Katadyn Survivor? Makes fresh water from ocean or brackish or chemically tainted water. How does it work? Is there a DIY alternative?
Fresh water source isn't an option sometimes near the ocean (or source that can't be simply filtered). A distiller takes too long. The Katadyn Survivor pump can produce 35 gallons of fresh water a day. Also removes dissolved chemicals, nerve agents, viruses, bacteria etc.
I advise folks to keep seeds in storage, should they need to grow foods while eating their stored foods (strawberries, potoatos, garlic, onions, tomatoes, beans,).
Sprout a few pound of beans, and grown them in pots to plant, and grow more beans. If you own land, then plant a garden and grow fruit trees (Lemons, grapefruits, almonds, apples, peaches, tangerines).
Build a False Wall with inset bookself on concealed rollers that can be rolled in and out to enter. The bookshelf has a false bottom on one shelf with pad locks inside on each side to lock it into the door frame so no one can just pull it out without the key. My space is 5 feet deep along a 20 foot wall. No one can tell that the wall is false and just think I have a nice inset bookshelf.
@shirleykendrick1951 Get good quality powdered eggs, for one. Shelf Reliance's THRIVE brand powdered whole eggs are great. My kids eat them and have no idea they aren't from the fridge.
Nomadic Negros? I didn't know we had things like that. Only nomadic people in the USA that I know of are the illegal migrant workers from Mexico, and if you want to talk about riots when your sports team wins have a look at Europe when their soccer teams play. As far as everybody out to get us, well the radical Islam terrorist groups ARE out to get us.
My when my Dad was out of work for three months, we lived on our food storage. It taught me that it really is a good idea. We all have to save for a rainy day, and having food on hand is important too.
I see you're well prepared for the long drawn out siege that is a zombie apocalypse. What defenses do you have prepared to ward off the shambling horrors that are the undead?
And now the whole world has seen how much food you own... Those that know you, and think you're "crazy" will be the first ones to come and rob you when the crap hits the fan.
I hope people realize that foreign troops will be searching for you day and night in the end times. Unless you have the angel of the Lord at your door, then you're going to have to make a run for it. Laugh if you want, you know I'm right. They can track you down via cell phone and credit/debit cards, so do not take those with you. Also do not go to a FEMA camp for refuge because they will not help or provide you with anything, except a chip (666). I'm sure most of you already know this.
You have a very musical, easy to listen voice. However, small quibble, you have a slight mispronunciation of the letter 's'. Just a small fix and you'd be an incredible singer.
The food storage thing is great btw. I too store food. Good for you. :-)
my dad in Japan asked me, "since when and who is telling you that USA is going to panic and collapse?, why are you (I am in the US), interested and telling me this? No one in Japan is aware of it nor talking about it." ..... How do I explain to hm ?
Americans are egotistical selfish savages. They will loot and kill when ever they can if there is a disaster, if their sports team wins what ever. They are armed to the teeth and believe that everyone is out to get them. They think that being prepared will save them from nomadic negros that inhabit their large cities. Americans have no understanding of community, they care only about them selves. then their family, then their pets and then their neighbors. Tell your dad that.
I'm no foreigner. I live in the US. What I am saying is the truth. Look at how your system is failing you. Its because your culture favors greed and selfishness. Your so scared of each other that you can't work collectively. When disasters strike your towns you take that opportunity to kill, rape and steal from each other. Don't bother trying to tell me to leave it if you don't love it. I am on my way out before your kind kills, rapes and eats my family.
@fernandizo If you don't like it, why don't you go back to mexico. I am sure while they are scrounging around with their huts, drug lords and gangs, they can take the time to make sure you feel 'surrounded by community."
your a us citizen then? and your talking bad about your own people your an idiot any counrty falls there will be rapes murders and theft so wheres your point there and our country wasnt founded on greed it was made into a greed infested country after time of becoming way to powerful and the citizens of americans arent the problem its our gov so stop sterotypeing you wanna bitch bitch at our gov

I had to move here when my country was attacked by terrorists. Guess who took the side of the terrorists? yeah your wonderful country. My family had to choose between death or moving here. Now that the war is over where moving back. I had the opportunity of being a citizen of the US. I said no thanks. They said either you become a citizen or leave, I said bye bye. I like your ideals but your people are selfish, ignorant and believe a gun is the answer to all your problems domestic and foreign.
Everyone is selfish when they are hungry, its life. They learn to hunt for food--all life is about consumption, and better ways of it. A starving man does not rape...please. The US is more civil than most and you know it
@fernandizo You don't find it at all ironic that 'your people' were such barbarous and murderous bastards that they forced you to leave your home, but WE'RE violent. Ironic you came here to be safe, are safe and are now going back to the place you came from unscathed. Don't let the door hit you.
@voodazz Hey there American savage..I am home..I rebuilt my house.. The terrorist that your country supported to take over our land so that you may capitalize on our resources have been beaten back and now life flourishes in my country. I am among my people, who care about each other and got each other through the massacre your country spurred, while you Americans are stocking up on food in case your country collapses ..hahaha.. I say good luck to you!..pathetic Americans..hahaha
@urkingod Tell the folks in Japan it's always a good idea to be prepared with extra food or money, in case of earthquake, hurricane, political upheaval, sneaky Sunday morning air attacks on Navy bases.... that kinda stuff.
ive been living this way for a long time and the only difference is that i always have on hand what i need instead of running to the store for 1 day or 1 weeks worth of meals. i try to rotate through the food daily and replenish when on sale. my hubby lost his job 5 yrs ago and we have been able to live quite well this way, no wars or other disasters yet. we have more power outages and hurricanes where i live, girl scout motto, always be prepared!
It is so refreshing to see someone so young have her food storage. We have about 2 years food storage, but there are so many older people who have nothing, even though they have been told for decades to be ready, Good for you and yours!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
In 2009 and 2010 we have take 10 steps backwards.
People are hoarding food, guns, and ammo. I see the point of having these items on hand but a years supply of food that is a little too extreme. My family has 5 weeks worth of supplies. If there is no food in the stores after 5 weeks we have bigger things to worry about. 20 bottles of ketchup, by the time you reach bottle 3 the last 17 have expired! Too Funny!!!
If we haven't had food ready for the general populous for 5 weeks, then there are much greater things to be worried about than lasting another 6 months on your own food before venturing forth for more...
@BeyondDGrave That's right, if things are that bad it's more important than ever to have your food storage. Mock if you will, but someday when you get to the end of your 5 week supply, you'll be wishing you had been so light duty about the matter, just sayin.
It's not a "fear" buddy. Fear is caused by inaction and inability to cope with a concern. I have sought and implemented a solution to my concern.
If you ever lived through a serious disaster event you wouldn't be so flippant about preparedness. Try living without electricity or clean water for a month and half in a disaster zone.
I am smiling as well knowing I have the capability to protect and feed my family and not rely on others to "save" me. If you don't rely on God, yourself and family then you are relying on the government or some other third party that owes you nothing.
You know what I don't care about the 2012 but this food storing is an excellent idea as my mother used to store foods and it does make sense to store foods in case if I fall ill and not been able to go out or money runs out or no jobs. This is an uncertain I will tell you that.
I'm by no means rich. And have food storage comparable to hers. Maybe even larger to to the thirty plus buckets of grains and beans. We don't buy it all at once. We buy a couple extra every time we go out. It builds up.
Love the video had a question, have you had any issues with roaches or any pest? also I dont know where you live but I live in California and it's earthquake country here and I would need to keep my food storage accessible and the racks braced, but I enjoyed your video, thanks.

Time flies!

Nicely done.
Tell your husband he's a lucky man, not from a looks stand point (you certainly get a passing grade there) but rather from an intelligent woman point of view, a woman who is proactive and takes the time to ensure her husband and family are well fed and well taken care of. This is rare these days and very refreshing to see....
Well done!!

If you own land, then plant a garden and grow fruit trees (Lemons, grapefruits, almonds, apples, peaches, tangerines).
borderraven 1 year ago
@borderraven citrus fruit trees don't grow up here in the frozen north. just apples

@pete5668, grow what you can grow. Apples, almonds, apricots, cherries, maple syrup trees, etc.

I like your ideals but your people are selfish, ignorant and believe a gun is the answer to all your problems domestic and foreign.
fernandizo 1 year ago
Everyone is selfish when they are hungry, its life. They learn to hunt for food--all life is about consumption, and better ways of it. A starving man does not rape...please. The US is more civil than most and you know it

ive been living this way for a long time and the only difference is that i always have on hand what i need instead of running to the store for 1 day or 1 weeks worth of meals. i try to rotate through the food daily and replenish when on sale. my hubby lost his job 5 yrs ago and we have been able to live quite well this way, no wars or other disasters yet. we have more power outages and hurricanes where i live, girl scout motto, always be prepared!

Too Funny!!!

bigger things than food and water to worry about? really? What might those be?
PreparedCitizen 2 years ago
I agree with you..
If we haven't had food ready for the general populous for 5 weeks, then there are much greater things to be worried about than lasting another 6 months on your own food before venturing forth for more...
Although I do like the organization she has...
BeyondDGrave 2 years ago
@BeyondDGrave That's right, if things are that bad it's more important than ever to have your food storage. Mock if you will, but someday when you get to the end of your 5 week supply, you'll be wishing you had been so light duty about the matter, just sayin.

@PreparedCitizen yes maybe i am. but i live my life without those fears and anxieties of an upcoming natural disaster, or ...chemical war(!?#%$).
You may be a "PreparedCitizen", i 'm just a smiling one.
Kapseros 2 years ago
It's not a "fear" buddy. Fear is caused by inaction and inability to cope with a concern. I have sought and implemented a solution to my concern.
If you ever lived through a serious disaster event you wouldn't be so flippant about preparedness. Try living without electricity or clean water for a month and half in a disaster zone.
PreparedCitizen 2 years ago 5
I am smiling as well knowing I have the capability to protect and feed my family and not rely on others to "save" me. If you don't rely on God, yourself and family then you are relying on the government or some other third party that owes you nothing.

You know what I don't care about the 2012 but this food storing is an excellent idea as my mother used to store foods and it does make sense to store foods in case if I fall ill and not been able to go out or money runs out or no jobs. This is an uncertain I will tell you that.
SKTPSY 2 years ago 6
I'm by no means rich. And have food storage comparable to hers. Maybe even larger to to the thirty plus buckets of grains and beans. We don't buy it all at once. We buy a couple extra every time we go out. It builds up.
