I think the reason it shoots faster on the sides is because its closer to the end of the screen and the toilet paper is programmed so that you can throw it again once it's off the screen :P

that happens because there can only be one roll of toilet paper on the the screen, so when it disappears another one automatically shoots. it disappears quickly because its at the edge of the screen.

The toilet paper does that because it lets you shoot another when the first one is removed from the screen. If you go all the way to the side and shoot across the screen the rate of fire will be VERY slow.
