How do I make it so it doesn't open another window? As in, if this is on a webpage for example, how do I make it just change the current page rather than a new tab/window.

i have a problem.... the action panel says "ACTION FRAME" but not "ACTION BUTTON" . its the only thing i dont get >_<

That is because you have selected the frame and not your movie clip symbol. Go into the action panel after you select your symbol. If you want me to explain the code in this video or if there is anything else you need help with let me know on this account. I never use this account anymore...

Maybe you selected ActionScript 3.0 in the beginning? In AS3 you can't apply code directly to symbols, maybe that's why it says frame.

Are you sure you typed the code on your Movie Clip symbol? Maybe you selected the frame by accident.

The reason I don't use Action Script 3 is because of that. In AS2 you can apply code directly on to the movie clip or button. In AS3 all code must be written in the current frame I think,

hey man, i made a flash in action script 3.0, and now im trying to add a link button. Your tutorial says i have to select action script 2.0 in order to make the button, so that means i cant make in my current movie??

In AS2 you can write directly on to the button, you can't do that in AS3. I'm really sorry but I haven't tried AS3 yet... :(
