  • ...Hi again - google: "Collision Course : Scenic but Dangerous California 126" It's an old LA times article from 1996. By the way, I like your video series - I used to live and drive a lot in So. Cal. Thanks!

I read that article about "Blood Alley". It mentioned a lot of accidents were head on collisions. Scary stuff. Anyway I'll be uploading more southern california freeways in the weeks and months to come. Stay tuned.

  • Hi - The portion you filmed was not the dangerous stretch. The part east from Santa Paula to Castaic used to be very dangerous because it was just 2 lanes, one for each directions & much of it adjacent with no separation barrier & cars going full speed in opposite directions. Also, there were large eucalyptus trees lining both shoulders for long stretches. So, you faced giant trees or oncoming speeding traffic. I think it is much safer now. I knew two guys who were killed on it.

  • I used to drive 126 from Castaic to Ventura a few times a year. For a time it was one of the deadliest highways in California.

Really, one of the deadliest? I wonder why. Speaking of Castaic, I wanted to film starting from there but decided just to do the freeway portion instead.
