"Ma è proprio il debole che deve saper essere forte e andar via, quando il forte è troppo debole per poter far del male al debole. (M. Kundera, L'insostenibile leggerezza dell'essere)
A beautiful rendition for sure, but my hat also goes off to the song writer Edward Redding. He captured the emotion of heartbreak by connecting the excessive nature some of us go through to remove the pain. Billie added that little something extra that takes it over the top.
for this song i fell in love with her. just heard about her sadness before. now is the really listening im doing. truly amazing extension and reflection of everyone's heart i believe! Love you billie !
I believe this is Billie's final recording done in 1959. Her voice sounds rather deteriorated and not as textured. But it's a fitting theme for a woman who broke the mold and sadly broke herself by her addictions.
she recorded one and a half years before her death...she sounds quite stronger, so passionate, so restless....so sad than before...to me really amazing...all her interpretation were (are) magic...she didn't even have music technique, she didn't even know the notes...this is what I called "holy fire"...something more that only few people have (had)..
何度聞いても、最高!。彼女がどんな気持ちで、歌っているか、気持ちが、・・・・・。

Her ability to communicate was her genius even at the point that her range narrowed. She did so much with the little she had left.
