A very beautiful song and well performed by Vera Lynn. The lyrics to the song was written by Arnold Goland, and the music by Jack Gold. However, and even though both gentlemen, apparently were very talented, the internet unfortunately only provides very scanty information on their persona. The only conclusion i've been able to come to is that they were American and - judging by their family names - of Jewish ancestry.

That's wrong. Hardy's song "Comment te dire adieu" is the cover. It was released in 1968, this version dates back 1967, originally recorded in 1966 by Margaret Whiting.
