Does anyone know if there is a recording out there of their August 1982 concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland (just outside of D.C.)? I was fortunate enough to have been there and would love to have one. Thanks!
By all accounts, yes. It's the same setlist night after night. Sabbath was never a band that did any surprise encores or anything of that sort. The people below don't have a clue what they are talking about, as well-intentioned as they are.
fortunately, this song was played again at the high voltage festival 2010... sadly the last concert ever for Heaven & Hell, with Jorn Lande on vocals... RIP Ronnie James Dio
Nunca entendí porque esta canción no la tocaron mas veces en vivo. Al igual que la de Slippin´Away son fantasticas y debieron quedar fijas en el set list pero no pueden meter todas aunque la de Voodoo nunca me termino de agradar pero...
Well they didn't play it at Long Beach, Phoenix, UC Davis, San Francisco, or Ingelwood...recordings exist of all of those 1982 shows. Why would they play it at San Diego?? Again, I think it's a case of misremembering. I can't prove it because there's no recording, but a distant memory doesn't qualify as proof either. All there is is overwhelming evidence to suggest that they didn't play it.
Sabbathlive (as it was back before it was taken down) was pretty much the ultimate source for this sort of debate. Gangsta is right, the song wasn't played there. Why would Sabbath stick that song in for one show when it hadn't been played since the beginning of the tour? You're probably mis-remembering. Don't take it personally, it happens.
@Winonasalibi I know what you mean. This is my favorite ALL TIME song. I would remember it too. They probably played it. Some of those bootlegs don't have the entire show and sevaral other people are saying they heard it also.....
There's a recording of the Long Beach show in existence...this song wasn't played. Four of Sabbath's 1982 shows from California exist as AUD recordings and NONE of them have this song.
such a great underrated track i hope they play it on the devil you know tour id love to hear it live thanks for this sweet post blacksabfan you rock /,,//,,/
I wish they could write like this more!!! I love Sabbath and will be buying THE DEVIL YOU KNOW but after hearing it its no HEAVEN & HELL or MOB RULES....
.Looks like they would recognize the interest in these songs and do something, but like I said, they're too lazy to put something out for us on youtube which may result in some sales for their dadgum recordings.STUPID ASSES!
My problem with WMG and UMG and others is that they remove stuff they have no plans of releasing in audio or DVD form. I'm not saying they have to release everything, or that it's their responsibility to, because there is a business side to it. That said, if they don't have plans to make certain things commercially available, then what's the harm in letting certain things remain posted? You can't lose money you're not making in the first place, right?
wow this is absolutely amazing i never knew they played this song one of my favorites out of the mob rules album thanks blacksabfan you rock /,,/ /,,/ long live dio /,,/ /,,/
Dear BlaSabFan, I wrote u a couple of days ago but u never responded.I want to thank u for all these gems.I've been afan since SAbotage and some of these things truly amaze me.You look pretty young but you sure r on top of it.keep bringing Sabbath .I asked you before if you could get any live stuff from 73 or 74 besides Cal jam.Thank you 4 everything. your the bomb SMODABR
Yeah sorry, I get a lot of messages and I don't always respond to them all. Nothing personal. I do have some live stuff from '73 and '74, and I have posted some of it (A National Acrobat @ Pittsburgh '74 and a version of Killing Yourself to Live from Februrary '73). I will say that there isn't as much live stuff from that period as earlier or later periods, and what does exist isn't that great in terms of quality, which is why I don't post much of it.
It must have seeded a long time ago on one of the torrent sites. I actually got my copy from someone else who must have DLed it while it was seeding. I haven't really searched for it though, so it might be floating around on a blog or site someplace. It's just a bummer the recording isn't that great.

This is ridiculous!! How can someone sing like this?
It´s pretty fair that Dio be recognized as the most gifted singer of history of Rock and maybe of all styles.

Are the recordings complete?

I think that Dio doesnt have the chops to perform this well nowadays. I think that it was hard to sing even when he was young(er).

Inspiring song, makesd me feel like getting a big silver cross and get a band going again!

What happened to your comment? Oh well, I took the liberty of reposting it below so everyone can see what kind of asshole you are.
@blacksabfan
This was my fav. Dio era song.... and I KNOW they did it. I don't give a shit what recordings you have.
Well, if you don't give a shit, then stop showing up to this one and bitching about what you obviously are misremembering.

He didn't do the trills, which is like the trademark of the song. Nice upload, but disappointing at the same time.

which trills? no idea what you mean. which minute/second in studio version?

The trills after the lyrics "turn up the night" in the chorus. I think.
