i was wondering how hard it was to make it into carbed i have a 97 chevy 350 vortec that im getting built into a 383 stroker and was wondering how hard it was to do that thanks

@johnpaulbruiser, I can't remember the duration. It was somewhere in the 230's on both intake and exhaust. But it's a Trickflow spec'd cam.

@Taiiint, what tranny is in the truck right now? I would recommend either a 6.0L with a good set of heads/cam. It will be easy to tune and be reliable.

@stumpster7, What tranny are you running right now? Mine came with a 5 speed from the factory but I wanted to go automatic. So I put a 700r4 in when I did the swap. You can keep the 5 speed or 4L60e with the 383. Its not a big deal.

wasted your time and continuing to waste money. you could have gotten more power for less money by swapping in a 5.3 and bolting in an ls6 manifold, headers cam and tune and saw 400+ hp and 25+mpg. different strokes for different folks though.

@lcurtizz, I'm not a cheap ass and I like to do something different than what everyone else has... How many 2003 silverados out there have a 5.3L.. How many have a carb'd 383? I didn't do the swap because I was worried about gas milage. I did it cause I was the only one with a modern truck with the old school muscle sound. I drove this truck with the 383 for two years and loved the looks and comments I got on it. Check my newer vids and you'll see I jumped back into fuel injection.

I'm about to put a Vortec HT383E in my Tahoe with a ramjet intake manifold. Any Idea what kinda cam I could use to get it to sound similar? I know FI wont sound the same as carb'd but thats about the sound I'd like to get... getting the qtp electric cutouts too...

Im doing the same to my 97 chevy silverado. has the 4.3 nv3500 manual tranny..i just blew the head gasket and now replacing the engine with a 5.7 vortec and leaving the stock tranny. if i wanted this engine i would do a nv4500 swap or have mine rebuilt bc i dnt like automatics...nice engine! 383 sound super amazing!

I would like to customize my truck. I have a 2002 silverado witht he 5.3. I have an old 350 from a 1970 Chevelle. I was wondering if you would suggest building up the 5.3 or building up the 350 and swapping it out. Comment back or message me. @GAG91690, We left all the V6 wiring in the truck. We just hid all the looms up against the firewall. We really didn't change any wiring. Just had to modify the fuel pump so it ran all the time when the key was turned to the run position.

@twiztiDchevy, I live in vegas and they do have emissions. I had to register my truck in Southern Utah. Thats where I'm attending school. I used the stock fuel pump from inside the tank. Then I used a dragster fuel pressure regulator. Its worked flawlessly since installed.

Your motor swap looks pretty clean. Mine was a bitch to do with all the wiring and stuff but it looks stock, what did u do with all the stock wiring just unhook it and hide it? thats what I want to do so i can go back to EFI in the future if I wanted.

@hirantz, your an idiot. There is a PCV in the front drivers side valve cover, under the water hose. And a breather in the rear side of the passengers side valve cover. I guess I did a good job of making it look clean if you can't find anything.

@wisnergilbert, I left the computer in tach in my truck. I just took all the engine sensor plugs and kept them inside the existing wire loom from the factory. The whole computer system is the same, it just isn't plugged into the motor and tranny. Thanks
