It's natural. When people who have lived a while come across pure beauty, you can't fault them for wanting to protect it.. Your beautiful voice expresses something of that purity. You have, with this new song, brought out another side of your personality, something more adult, but not cynical or hard or vulgar. You can sing anything. Purity and beauty can be found even in a scratchy Bob Dylan song. It's not about churchiness. It's about singing what's true (and not for $ or popularity).

Sad to say, listening to this YouTube clip was my introduction to this beautiful song... I'm can't fault your singing technically and I think you conveyed the emotion of the piece well too.... I very much enjoyed your first album, "Moon River", my one beef with it being that with the song selection, there were perhaps too many songs that were VERY well known. I think it'd be nice if your next album contains more obscure songs (like this one) and/or original material.
