The facts are uncommonly clear: In February of 2009, President Obama signed a $787 Billion dollar stimulus to get people back to work. Since that day, there are 2.4 million fewer jobs in our country.
all thoese companies he stated are part of the economy too, sounds like a cry baby that has a bad case of diaper rash , i've never seen a country borrow and spend it's way out of debt. this guy is such a fool . this has to be a joke, he wants his cake and eat it too.

Venture capital given to small start ups is the ultimate transfer of wealth from rich to poor.Investors care little about the size of one's bank account, or skin color. They base decisions to pour money into an enterprise based on vision talent and dedication of the people running it. This is what works. Over 5 trillion dollars of wasted taxpayer money via the New Deal and Great Society have only made poverty worse and have led to moral and economic bankruptcy. Liberal programs do not work.
This video was done over a year ago...and Thank God they passed the stimulas packeage! Its done so much to help the country! He talked about unemployment being the worst since '74? Well now a year later, and the "great" stimulas package, the economy is worst. Unemployment is higher. The deficit is 4 X what it was! This guy has proved he is a moron. He is full of shit on every video and has been proven wrong about this wonderful stimulas package that they passed.

Anyone who thinks the stimulus package... in any measure... is a good thing.... is wrong. The government already spent too damn much money on everything under the sun... then Chairman Obama comes along and wants to spend more? Why do you people think he's so smart???
Chit chat it all you like, but we are over 11 trillion in debt. Is this a good thing? It no longer a Democratic or Republican issue, its a money management issue. It's not about differences in philosophy, it's about facing reality. If 11 trillion in debt is good, than why not 22 trillion? 40 Trillion? I'd like to hear your solution when this comes down, when the U.S. loses it's AAA credit rating, and is unable to sell its bonds and finance its debts. We are all screwed.
cpgne: You said that we have 11 trillion in debt. I agree with all you said. It is time to deal with this issue before the dollar collapses. I have heard, if you include all the debt the US government owes back to Social Security and other accounts the gov have stolen money from, we actually owe 50 trillion, or more.
It gets astounding to think about. But, if we drill for our own oil, we could pay this off in a few years.
Lol good point, we should allllll listen to your wisdom " i think hes wrong therefor i will not argue my point.....BUT IM RIGHT !!...want more proof im right?
wow, this guy really likes to take little bits and pieces of a situation, and really abstract out all kinds of opinionated misinterpretations. I couldn't possibly go into enough detail in another 300 characters to explain, but all I can say is do some real investigation yourself and you will completely understand what I mean. and if your lazy, a lot of good information can be found from Wikipedia, the references pages are the best source, since the writer cannot bias the referenced pages.
Randi was hitting this issue pretty hard on her national radio broadcast show! Just try to investigate Randi Rhodes disappearance, or get a message to her. Suddenly the rats start monitoring you! This means it's very likely she is either dead or in prison somewhere and we'll probably never see or hear from her again. Watch out for bullets and bagmen REPORTERS, unless of course you are NWO shills- in that case your as safe as Alex Jones or Jeff Rense!
"The next time a liberal spending program is proposed, we will have to ask: How worthless must this program be if it could not make it into the stimulus?" 9 Mar. 2009 National Review
Very well said.. its funny you got marked as -2 for this comment when it makes complete sense. Cutting taxes and cutting government spending is the only true way to rebuild the economy. Regan proved it back in the 80's and it worked. Give more back to the people and let them go wild. 80's had the largest economy boom in years. Bailouts and business packages do the complete opposite. Let banks be more selective of who they give loans out to.
Barack Obama is a complete and utter useless failure just like George W. Bush. This "Stimulus" Bill doesn't do jack shit for hard working Americans like me. A 13 dollar a week "Tax Cut"? Thanks for NOTHING Obama. The Right Wing bastards were right, this stupid ass "Bill" is nothing but "Pork" I can't believe i let myself be fooled into voting for this lying "Articulate" hack. Even big Oil think hes a God Damn joke. Gas prices are rising yet a barrel of oil is falling. This "CHANGE" is BULLSHIT
1.- I dont think the little "act" they made in congress throwing that "bill" of papers to the floor would necessarily mean what you just said.
2.- It doesnt matter if they are both republicans and democrats in one side or the other, what matters is that they both work toghether and that they do it right. Sometimes instead of looking forwards they preffer to stick in mistake because of ego and selfishness.
We all know about the stimulus, news etc. Why "SOME" of them dont?
Proof is in the pudding???? As you can NOW see, they could have passed ANYTHING since 2006 without Republican help IF they had but TRIED. But nooo.... $4.00 a gallon gas, the collapse of the stock market and all that had to be put on Bush's watch. Good old lefty politics as usual. The ride has just started it's already looking like a roller coaster that jumps off of a cliff.
The stimulus negotiations during this week leads to the fact that Republicans are highly lacking of capacity to act "efficiently". Their strong opposition shows an irrational struggle for political-ideological power "totalitarism". This overall crisis is not about political takeover. I hope they calm down and work toghether this time.
Yeah, it was democrat and republican senators who were both saying that they hadn't had a chance to read the whole bill yet had to vote on it. That is not responsible legislation when voting occurs without reading the entire bill.
I used to work for defense and I agree. A lot of money ended up wasted in security in small programs totally worthless such as going to classes every week teaching you the exact same thing taught the same way each time on computer. Total waste of time and money. 5/5
The kicker is that this isn't even a stimulus package. It's a spending bill with all kinds of provisions for socialist programs and other gov't waste. Both parties are terrible when it comes to spending and just about everything else. The next American generation will be subject to tax slavery to pay off this enormous debt.
all I can say is McCain is an ass, he is playing it safe in case we're still in the dumper four years from now, duh! we have your number. when they do get in, they will spend it up again, and then we will have to pay pay pay, like they say, it comes in cycles. lets have a revolution lol we need to get the people whom are the greedy ones putting pressure and money into their reps. off with their heads
This guy makes it sound like the repubs are completely getting rid of these programs. They are simply not adding more money to those programs so quit spinning.
I'm an advocate for NASA, but we do not need to be throwing big long term money at NASA when our house is on fire. I agree with his assessment on defense, but we are in two wars aren't we? Maybe next time American's will think before they vote for "putting a boot in their ass" war mentality. War is expensive in many ways.
I got a joke I think you will enjoy. Ok, ok. How many Republicans does it take to screw in a light bulb? One, they point a gun at a minority and force him to do it.
There is a reason Congress has an appropriations process. No government has unlimited resources and even liberals have to pick priorities. This isn't a stimulus package. It's a giant speeding bill (containing funding that could never get through Congress if evaluated on merit) that opens the door to socialized medicine. It will create very few jobs soon in part because much of the spending is timed to hit with the next elections. It, however, will bring back inflation.
Yeah, that's right, we shouldn't invest money in our military. There should always be military funding, especially while we have our service men over seas.
McCain received donations from ACORN and was involved with them so he kept his mouth shut when Obama was criticized and had Palin do all the dirty work.
this guy is as biased as they come, ya soo the democrats game is all about scare tactics forget about what you feel.. vote on the basis on what obama wants so that he dosnt go after you. ppl plzz dont watch this loser.
lol get out of here democrats arnt any more factual than republicans. how many democrats voted for the war in iraq and supported the search for WMD's.. well joe biden and hillary clinton both did.
Madeleine Albright, Howard Dean, Sandy Berger (NatSec adviser), Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), Joe Biden (Aug 2002), Harry Rein (D-NV), John Edwards (D-NC), Evan Bayh (D-IN).
...Keep in mind, Foreign Intelligence writes these WMD reports. I will cite sources for anyone skeptical of this list.
I'm not insulting you, degraves...but you're becoming too easily wrapped up in party obedience. BOTH SIDES have been screwing us.
I hate to sound condescending but that is simply not true. The Bush White House knew because of the intelligence briefings. The problem is Bush played politics from the beginning. Hussein rule of Iraq was built on fear and was hostile with the investigators to keep up that appearance otherwise he'd lose control. Bush used the WMD faulty in too ways. Too convince the public and congress it was needed and to trap Hussein politically. The fact that the info was knowingly false makes it fear based.
"Not true?" The montage watch?v=wmUX62prdk8 shows these words coming right out of their own mouths.
Of course Bush tried to convince people. That's like saying the sky's blue. But BOTH parties were rattling the sabers in 2002. Unlike 99.99% of Americans, I actually *read* the 2002 Weapons Dossier when it became public knowledge. Once it was proven to be 100% exaggerated, Democrats who once expected WMDs became opportunists and scapegoated their blunder toward the easiest target.
Don't think I'm excusing Bush, here. The current state of the war clearly shows there was no true merit to the invasion. And even back in 2002, the "evidence" was conjectural at best.
In hindsight, I think he was just a regular guy who tried to make good decisions but belittled his mistakes and blundered massively in the end. Sadly for him, generations will remember him as a failure.
To say that Democrats are at fault for believing a lie or trusting the President is wrong. President made the decision to lie to the public and Democrats though he was being sincere but he wasn't. It is not opportunistic to point out the fact that Bush lied. It is ironic that you can somehow scewed an argument into to saying that it is somehow the Democrats fault for a Bush decision.
You really should pay closer attention to the video I posted. :) The democratic leaders were pushing WMD speeches long before Bush left the governor's mansion. And yes, it's painful to watch.
Ask yourself this. If Bush lied (which is a possibility), then why couldn't the Democrats repudiate his weapons assessment? They're not idiots. They had access to REAL intel reports and WANTED to disprove him. Yet he was allowed to tie his own noose. The answer? Every campaign needs its scapegoat.
No one has access to intelligence reports like the President. The President is the commander and chief and has access. Number 2 your montage is completely bogus, it skips 4 years, you make it sound like it happen when Bush was running for President, and plus Hussein did commit genocide using biological weapons. To say that that the Democrats was pushing that Hussein had WMDs in 1998 for War in 2002 is utterly ridiculous.
No one has access? You're positive? :) Not even William Cohen, who said in 2003:
-"I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons...I saw evidence back in 1998?"
...or General Wesley Clark, who said in Sept 2002:
-"There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat...Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons"
You're saying Bush outsmarted all these guys? SINCE he was governor? I can understand partisan servility and wanting to forget what was said. But this pushes the envelope.
Don't misquote me again, no one has access to intelligence reports like the commander and chief does. 1998 was the height of the disarmament of Iraq and Saddam Huesein regime. Remember Hussein kick our inspectors out of Iraq. Apparently Clinton did his job and Huessein was just grandstanding but I guess you would never blame Bush for anything. I see what you are trying to do and it is BS. Bush didn't have to outsmart any body he lied and pull down a veil of secrecy around the white house.
I really need to jog that long-term memory of yours. Didn't I say as recently as one week ago that Bush had no merit for war?
It appears my friend, the two of us are at an impasse. On one hand, I scrutinize Bush, Congress, CIA & NRO, and any agency privy to Iraq's REAL capability at the time. On the other hand, you fixate your scrutiny exclusively on Bush, who -let's admit- is the easy target for us all. I can only hope you someday brave to examine BOTH sides of the evidence, as I have.
I have to disagree, the president bares the highest responsibility in this situation. Did Congress bare some blame, of course. But to say that they are just as guilty is deftly wrong of the evidence. And to somehow assume I haven't look at both side of the evidence explains why you may not feel I am justified in my view. I don't rip talking points from politicians. The President is the most powerful office in government, and was involved in every step of the lead up to war.
is this guy for real!??! first of all Republicans dont havea the power to do shit.. if the democrats wanted too they can pass a bill without a single republican. second you also left out some notable parts of the bill.. how about over 400 million dollars put in to give condoms to mexico for prevention of sexually transmitted dieseases. ohh wait you forgot to mention over 150 million for bee insurance, and over 80 million for rebuilding off road trails for atv's. cmon you liberals wake up!!
Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) --" The stimulus package the U.S. Congress is completing would raise the governments commitment to solving the financial crisis to $9.7 trillion, enough to pay off more than 90 percent of the nations home mortgages." Hey Losers in Washington, I would have much rather had my house paid off. Give me back MY money, I don't trust you to spend it wisely. I don't want your Crapulus bill!
WORD, progress is necessary. i just got back from Eastern Europe where the mentality is still messed up from Communism. What we must do in the USA is innovate AGAIN. Republicans are now dragging their feet to squeeze more blood from the turnip. GET REAL, get new, GO GREEN, it is the only future.
You IDIOTS. Repubs are voting against the bill because it is spending money that is yet to be EARNED. Because it will TRIPLE OUR DEFICIT YOU FOOLS. YOU CANNOT SPEND MONEY TO GET OUT OF DEBT FOOLS! Obama is spending money that is non-existant and you all LOVE him. CHANGE MY ASS.He spends BILLIONS bailing out corporations, he does NOTHING to lower taxes just like bush, he hangs out with CROOKS just like bush, yet he is this "NEW THING"
your an idiot. if you were here last year, you would also remember that the REPUBLICANS under the BUSH administration started spending billions bailing out the coporations. do some reading, it'll help you out.
If you have read enough, you would know that the Democrats and Republicans are responsible for this. Liberal loaning policy inflated housing prices, preyed on minorities, and poor people, are responsible for this. Both bail-outs are crimes, Bush's and Obama's.
oh, is that why the repubs are against it? because they don't want to increase the deficit? maybe we should lower taxes like bush? yeah, that did wonders for the economy. how's your 401k?
"Yeah, lets send 4.1 billion to ACORN, a non profit organization involved with voter fraud"
typical irrational moron who uses made up 'facts' to buttress his nonexistent case. name one credible source that supports your allegations? your anus unfortunately does not count.
House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement over the weekend noting that the stimulus bill wending its way through Congress provides $4.19 billion for "neighborhood stabilization activities."
He said the money was previously limited to state and local governments, but that Democrats now want part of it to be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds.
i do. that's why i know there's not one credible source that claims that the current admin wants to give $4.1 billion to ACORN. btw, the Pentagon budget or for sheep like you the 'defense budget' is where the majority of the pork that you supposedly abhor are located. you love the military so much and yet, i bet you don't want to spend a dime on the 200,000+ homeless vets on the streets of the US. that's how we take care of our soldiers when they come home. we don't.
Actually, that is where you are wrong. I would love to spend money on homeless vets. I am against this stimulus package because I believe there is way too much pork in the package and it doesn't do enough to immediately stimulate this economy.
"Incredibly, the Democrats bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for neighborhood stabilization activities. Funds for this purpose were authorized in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act, signed into law in 2008. However, these funds were limited to state and local governments. Now House Democrats are taking the unprecedented step of making ACORN and other groups eligible for these funds:"
these ideological tools are credible sources? these guys that think the best thing we can do to fix the crisis is to resort to more tax cuts for the rich? you're falling for red herrings but you don't know it. some fool acting indignant shouting 'those guys wanna make groups LIKE acorn eligible for a $4.19 billion pot'. but then again, your party leader did recently proclaim that work is not jobs.
i don't know what this bullshit is pertaining to - how many times do you need people to point out the fact that your sparsely decorated brain is full of red herrings. mouse project? - but you'd be mistaken if you think i have high regards for pelosi. i think she's a spineless rich bitch looking out for number one like most repubs and dems alike. you're a beatles fan? it sucks that narrowminded hypocritics like you are in the ranks but i guess good music transcends stupidity.
I'm stupid because I don't support a stimulus package that has a lot of PORK in it. PORK that President Obama said was not in this bill. Don't you find it disturbing that Congress is voting on a bill that is 1071 pages long and that hasn't been read completely.
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) predicted on Thursday that none of his Senate colleagues would "have the chance" to read the entire final version of the $790-billion stimulus bill before the bill comes up for a final vote in Congress.
you know what's sad, DrRobert? you're one of those people so deeply invested in their blinders and prejudices that you will likely never step out of your penchant for slinging mud instead of thinking constructively. what do you propose we as a nation do here? should we do more of the Bush-style tax cuts? why is that not pork? did they put us in a good place? i'm not saying it was all their doing. imo, the policies of the Bush admin only sped up the trainwreck but no you'd rather sling mud.
All I am saying is that before we rush to vote on a package, we find out exactly what is in that package. We should be questioning why the Senate and the House are voting on what may be the most important bill of the President Obama administration without reading it.
they have been arguing over what to in/exclude for weeks, haven't they? maybe they should have focused on that before playing politics. what happened to OUR $350 billion that the Bush-appointed Treasury Sec & Goldman Sachs CEO Paulson doled out without conditions to help the economy? it went right to the fat cats' bonuses, expense accounts, toilet renovations, private jets, tropical business retreats, etc. it did jack shit for the million plus Americans who lost jobs & homes during that time.
Washington Times "Lawmakers and administration officials divulged Wednesday that the $789 billion economic stimulus bill being finalized behind closed doors in Congress includes $30 million for wetlands restoration that the Obama administration intends to spend in the San Francisco Bay Area to protect, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.
...Nancy Pelosi represents the city of San Francisco and has previously championed preserving the mouse's habitat in the Bay Area. "
you don't get it, you silly dude. can't you decipher that by the very sentences you chose to cite that the $30 million is for wetlands restoration and that one of effects of that effort would help this endangered species? it's sad that you hold such contempt for these mice that any help they'd get from a wetlands restoration effort should outrage you so. what's good for the wetlands, is good for the environment, is good for living things including us. my final post to you. take care.
Though there should be a need for restoration, it shouldn't be in an economic stimulus package. I am all for a package that creates jobs, but not one with Pork all over it. And for your information, I was not a supporter of the original package either. I found it disgusting to see banks get this money and days later hanging out at a resort. But I am a tax payer and I want to know exactly where my money is going to. Especially since this plan will only see our taxes rise in the near future...
So don't sit here and tell me I don't get it. I very much get it. And damn if I have the balls to question this package. I really don't care about republicans or democrats. Fact of the matter is, this is a huge bill that hasn't even been fully read and yet our Congress is voting on it. This is something that is going to effect our country for a real long time and I would like to know that our elected officials who represent us are taking the time to really consider this bill!!!!!!
Come on!!!!! You got to be serious! You mean those same Republicans that put a rubber stamp on everything Bush put across their desk!? Obama has been in office for a little more than 2 weeks. IT IS AMAZING HOW QUICK YOU FORGET!!!!!!!! You and the other Republicans are a bunch of idiots!
Ahh quite contrare you must spend money to make money. Let me give you just a couple of examples. 1.) Do you think you make any money in the stock market by not buying stock? 2.) Do you think Bill Gates made his riches by not spending a cent? Just a couple of examples. We just sat back for 8 years and watched this country spiral downward, i welcome this change!
More military spending? So the most wasteful branch of the government needs even more money???
Defense spending is more than half of discretionary spending in the United States. I think it's fair to say that dramatically more than half of that spending is pork. I think Cenk is being generous there.
But does America need military bases all over the world? Japan? Germany? And now Iraq. Dude, WW2 ended 70 years ago. I don't think the Japanese and Germans need supervision anymore. I think they have their shit together by now. Just cutting all these military bases and foreign country deployments would save bucks.
whether you " think the Japanese and the germans dont need supervision anymore" is not the point. That is just one reason we have bases all over the world.
Like it or NOT, we are the superpower of superpowers, and with that title comes RESPONSIBILTY. ANY other country from the smallest to the largest gets in trouble in any WAY, the good ol' US of A is called upon to act..The tsunami in Thailand, the pirates who hijack ships in the South China SEA?? OPEN YOUR EYES and look beyond your backyrd
Where are you getting your news from! Having worked for the government I know that we used hardly any military resources to help out in other countries unless we have some type of strategic objective. That is the only reason why we have those bases!!
What a stupid comment! It took many things to open my eyes including working for the US government in Europe, we all learn different ways. I am now a socialist democrat (Scandinavian model) who believes in socialized medicine and helping the poor.
At 22 yrs. old you have 22 more years to get to my point. Let's see how many more stupid things you do with in that time.
Second, he is letting the Republicans make changes, but due to his new "openness policy" everyone gets to find out just what those changes are, and how despicable the Republican ideas really are.
Third, he gets the bill passed keeping his campaign promises, and the Republicans become the fall guys if things don't go as well as expected.
It's clean up time, and Obama has a new broom (and a fire hose).
So WHAT?? He let a BUNCH OF SPEND HAPPY LIBERAL freaks spend money that does YOU or ANYONE ELSE no FUCKING GOOD. The "Despicable Republican ideas" you speak about are THIS IDIOT: DONT SPEND MONEY YOU DONT HAVE. You CANNOT SPEND MONEY to GET OUT of DEBT!! Oh YEAH, he KEPT his campaign promise to BAIL OUT CORPORATIONS. CHANGE? MY ASS!!!!
TYPICALLY, deomocrats want people type programs, and the republicans cut all of those and increase defense spending just to keep military spending budgets over inflated
The problem is that Democrats and Republicans are cut from the same cloth. They have a consensus, and nothing effective will ever get done unless there is a clear and vocal mandate from the people all across America...I'm talking absolute civil unrest, and threats of revolution unless real change takes place. It's the only way things will turn around. The working people (both lower and middle class) have to rise together against Washington, and KICK SOME GOVERNMENT ASS!
Listen to this person who has talked to the Democratic officials in Chicago talking about what they are going to do with the money from the Stimulus and why they do not want to disclose how they plan to spend it.
Billions is going to fund jobs that people can only keep if they keep voting for Democrats. This is their plan. To do away with the two party system forever.
Leave it to the republican's to cut the BASIC NEEDS of MOST of americans-_-. If they build better schools kids not only have better books, and computers etc, but they would need workers to build the schools, janitors, and other things. I learned this in my sociology class last semester. ON the census bueruo (sp) and we are the ONLY country that spends more money on our "safetly" then EVERYONE ELSE. Not to sound harsh but that's the point in being "safe" if we are all living in a mess?
Those Republicans are unbelievable. I can't wait for them to start talking about how they are fiscally responsible after this bill passes. It is going to be a 24/7 circus with clowns.
Republicans raised the debt ceiling about 9 times and didn't threaten a single veto or filibuster during the Bush years. Sessions' admiration for the Taliban insurgency just shows how dishonest and insane the Republican party has become.
Corruption Corruption Corruption Greed Greed Greed. Politicians are crazy, and Republican politicians are the craziest. More Defense spending less spending on what matters most to the country, infrastructure, jobs, schools, hospitals, social services is why the economy is failed and if they had it their way it would continue like that. The privileged few, the politicians, like their pockets with inside deals and contracts, while working people get shafted.
Theres $198 million to compensate Filipino World War II veterans for their service. Most dont live in the United States. I'm sure that the few left will end up millionaires with that much money to split among them.
What about the vietnam veterans and other Us veterans? And, there is no money in the stimulus for the US Mexican border fence. Now, tell me who Obama is catering to? The answer, "Not the American people."

TYT calls themselves a news station now, does anyone else find that outrageous and proposterous?Wow. I cant believe people think biased ultra liberal talking points is news. Unbelieveable. These guys think they can fabricate anything. I'd like to talk to someone who comes from academia and believes this is news.
Actually if you pay attention Cenk regularly says that they're an OPINION show. That's the difference between a station like this or the Huffington post. They don't pretend to be impartial news readers (although half the time they are a lot more impartial than some ms media stations I could name.)
I love btw how to a conservative anything they don't agree with is "ultra liberal". The US is the most right-wing of any developed country in the world apart maybe from Israel.
What do you think McCain campaigned on? Remember, "Drill, baby drill!"
On November 4th, the American people chose not to drill. They chose Obama, the buddy of the muslims. Do you honestly think that Obama will allow the muslim oil money to dry up? "Hell No."
torpedo, where do they call themselves a "news station"? or is that something you just imagined to be the case because it suits you? They deal with the news, obviously, but that is different.
"The real revolution is in daring to be honest with people. We dont patronize our viewers or lie to them. We have real conversations and deliver the news honestly."
Now I don't know how you comprehend that but it's pretty coherent to me. Obviously thay are claiming to deliver news fairly without biasness. Unbelieveable. This is right off their home page man. You get it now? They are claiming to be a news station.
Yeah, and TYT calls themselves a "talk show" on the same page you are referencing. A talk show and a news show have a different format. Look up news program & talk show on wikipedia. It agrees with me. But yes, they deliver news. So does Rush. So does O'Reilly. We here generally do believe TYT are more honest, but not necessarily less biased.
Also, please address the point I and others made that TYT does frequently admit a bias.
I have never seen that before. The only thing I have ever seen is they used to say they were a liberal show. Since then, they have taken it down and are claiming to be "fair and honest". They are more of the same in media. They are going down the same worn out paths of media. And they want a gig at msnbc. lmao. They want biased talking points to reach a larger audience and play it off like they are being "fair". It's quite amazing.
I don't know what to say other than that they do or they have. To say they are a liberal show is to say they have a bias. Theoretically, the nightly news does not come from a political angle.
In a sense I can see what you are saying about the wording on their site, but I think you are blowing it out of proportion. If I detected a real change in the way they portrayed themselves, I would be upset, but I don't see such a change.
i say they should pass the bill as as originally intended and then ask the republicans if they want to be in on the next one or be just as ineffective....
The facts are uncommonly clear: In February of 2009, President Obama signed a $787 Billion dollar stimulus to get people back to work. Since that day, there are 2.4 million fewer jobs in our country.

Anyone who thinks the stimulus package... in any measure... is a good thing.... is wrong. The government already spent too damn much money on everything under the sun... then Chairman Obama comes along and wants to spend more? Why do you people think he's so smart???
10072018 2 years ago
Chit chat it all you like, but we are over 11 trillion in debt. Is this a good thing? It no longer a Democratic or Republican issue, its a money management issue. It's not about differences in philosophy, it's about facing reality. If 11 trillion in debt is good, than why not 22 trillion? 40 Trillion? I'd like to hear your solution when this comes down, when the U.S. loses it's AAA credit rating, and is unable to sell its bonds and finance its debts. We are all screwed.
cpgne 2 years ago
cpgne: You said that we have 11 trillion in debt.

Two things

I hope they calm down and work toghether this time.
leavinid 3 years ago
Yeah, it was democrat and republican senators who were both saying that they hadn't had a chance to read the whole bill yet had to vote on it. That is not responsible legislation when voting occurs without reading the entire bill.

It, however, will bring back inflation.

...Keep in mind, Foreign Intelligence writes these WMD reports. I will cite sources for anyone skeptical of this list.
I'm not insulting you, degraves...but you're becoming too easily wrapped up in party obedience. BOTH SIDES have been screwing us.
DigiTan000 3 years ago
I hate to sound condescending but that is simply not true. The Bush White House knew because of the intelligence briefings. The problem is Bush played politics from the beginning. Hussein rule of Iraq was built on fear and was hostile with the investigators to keep up that appearance otherwise he'd lose control. Bush used the WMD faulty in too ways. Too convince the public and congress it was needed and to trap Hussein politically. The fact that the info was knowingly false makes it fear based.
degraves2003 3 years ago
"Not true?" The montage watch?v=wmUX62prdk8 shows these words coming right out of their own mouths.
Of course Bush tried to convince people. That's like saying the sky's blue. But BOTH parties were rattling the sabers in 2002. Unlike 99.99% of Americans, I actually *read* the 2002 Weapons Dossier when it became public knowledge. Once it was proven to be 100% exaggerated, Democrats who once expected WMDs became opportunists and scapegoated their blunder toward the easiest target.
DigiTan000 3 years ago
Don't think I'm excusing Bush, here. The current state of the war clearly shows there was no true merit to the invasion. And even back in 2002, the "evidence" was conjectural at best.
In hindsight, I think he was just a regular guy who tried to make good decisions but belittled his mistakes and blundered massively in the end. Sadly for him, generations will remember him as a failure.
DigiTan000 3 years ago
To say that Democrats are at fault for believing a lie or trusting the President is wrong. President made the decision to lie to the public and Democrats though he was being sincere but he wasn't. It is not opportunistic to point out the fact that Bush lied. It is ironic that you can somehow scewed an argument into to saying that it is somehow the Democrats fault for a Bush decision.
degraves2003 3 years ago
You really should pay closer attention to the video I posted. :) The democratic leaders were pushing WMD speeches long before Bush left the governor's mansion. And yes, it's painful to watch.
Ask yourself this. If Bush lied (which is a possibility), then why couldn't the Democrats repudiate his weapons assessment? They're not idiots. They had access to REAL intel reports and WANTED to disprove him. Yet he was allowed to tie his own noose. The answer? Every campaign needs its scapegoat.
DigiTan000 3 years ago
No one has access to intelligence reports like the President. The President is the commander and chief and has access. Number 2 your montage is completely bogus, it skips 4 years, you make it sound like it happen when Bush was running for President, and plus Hussein did commit genocide using biological weapons. To say that that the Democrats was pushing that Hussein had WMDs in 1998 for War in 2002 is utterly ridiculous.
degraves2003 3 years ago
No one has access? You're positive? :) Not even William Cohen, who said in 2003:
-"I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons...I saw evidence back in 1998?"
...or General Wesley Clark, who said in Sept 2002:
-"There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat...Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons"
You're saying Bush outsmarted all these guys? SINCE he was governor? I can understand partisan servility and wanting to forget what was said. But this pushes the envelope.
DigiTan000 3 years ago
Don't misquote me again, no one has access to intelligence reports like the commander and chief does. 1998 was the height of the disarmament of Iraq and Saddam Huesein regime. Remember Hussein kick our inspectors out of Iraq. Apparently Clinton did his job and Huessein was just grandstanding but I guess you would never blame Bush for anything. I see what you are trying to do and it is BS. Bush didn't have to outsmart any body he lied and pull down a veil of secrecy around the white house.
degraves2003 3 years ago
I really need to jog that long-term memory of yours. Didn't I say as recently as one week ago that Bush had no merit for war?
It appears my friend, the two of us are at an impasse. On one hand, I scrutinize Bush, Congress, CIA & NRO, and any agency privy to Iraq's REAL capability at the time. On the other hand, you fixate your scrutiny exclusively on Bush, who -let's admit- is the easy target for us all. I can only hope you someday brave to examine BOTH sides of the evidence, as I have.
DigiTan000 3 years ago
I have to disagree, the president bares the highest responsibility in this situation. Did Congress bare some blame, of course. But to say that they are just as guilty is deftly wrong of the evidence. And to somehow assume I haven't look at both side of the evidence explains why you may not feel I am justified in my view. I don't rip talking points from politicians. The President is the most powerful office in government, and was involved in every step of the lead up to war.

DrRobert909 3 years ago

DrRobert909 3 years ago
i do. that's why i know there's not one credible source that claims that the current admin wants to give $4.1 billion to ACORN. btw, the Pentagon budget or for sheep like you the 'defense budget' is where the majority of the pork that you supposedly abhor are located. you love the military so much and yet, i bet you don't want to spend a dime on the 200,000+ homeless vets on the streets of the US. that's how we take care of our soldiers when they come home. we don't.

DrRobert909 3 years ago
you know what's sad, DrRobert? you're one of those people so deeply invested in their blinders and prejudices that you will likely never step out of your penchant for slinging mud instead of thinking constructively. what do you propose we as a nation do here? should we do more of the Bush-style tax cuts? why is that not pork? did they put us in a good place? i'm not saying it was all their doing. imo, the policies of the Bush admin only sped up the trainwreck but no you'd rather sling mud.
18bites 3 years ago
All I am saying is that before we rush to vote on a package, we find out exactly what is in that package. We should be questioning why the Senate and the House are voting on what may be the most important bill of the President Obama administration without reading it.

...Nancy Pelosi represents the city of San Francisco and has previously championed preserving the mouse's habitat in the Bay Area. "
DrRobert909 3 years ago
you don't get it, you silly dude. can't you decipher that by the very sentences you chose to cite that the $30 million is for wetlands restoration and that one of effects of that effort would help this endangered species? it's sad that you hold such contempt for these mice that any help they'd get from a wetlands restoration effort should outrage you so. what's good for the wetlands, is good for the environment, is good for living things including us. my final post to you. take care.
18bites 3 years ago
Though there should be a need for restoration, it shouldn't be in an economic stimulus package. I am all for a package that creates jobs, but not one with Pork all over it. And for your information, I was not a supporter of the original package either. I found it disgusting to see banks get this money and days later hanging out at a resort. Obama is way ahead of the pack on this one.
First, he let Congress write the bill.

After all, we cannot forget the US is a capitalist country.
Make the rich richer, the poor poorer, and the dumb public dumber.

TYPICALLY, deomocrats want people type programs, and the republicans cut all of those and increase defense spending just to keep military spending budgets over inflated

defence? fuckin' yanks.

LOL... the republicans are assholes. They want to cut school construction??? Why the fuck would you want to cut that?

Listen to this person who has talked to the Democratic officials in Chicago talking about what they are going to do with the money from the Stimulus and why they do not want to disclose how they plan to spend it.
Billions is going to fund jobs that people can only keep if they keep voting for Democrats. This is their plan. To do away with the two party system forever.

On my comment below the situation for the GOP is even bleaker than I stated.
The GOP will have 19 seats up in 2010 & DEMS have 17 (not the opposite of that as I stated below).
Looks like GOP will have at least 5 senators resign & if they're viewed as obstructionist - the party will be devastated.
Dems will definitely get over 60 anyway, but if GOP keeps up the crap they could get 70.
DillonX 3 years ago
If GOP filibusters that'd be the death of GOP, but I don't think that's Barack's goal.
If any1 thinks 2008 looked bleak for the GOP look at 2010.
The Dems now have a 59-41 lead & in 2010 the Dems will have 19 seats up for election, the GOP will have 17.
But all the Dems seats look safe unless Huckabee runs in Ark & takes a Dem seat.
But because of sex scandals & retirement (McCain and others leaving) the GOP will have 10 vulnerable seats.
If GOP tries filibuster, Dems will get 70.

It is going to be a 24/7 circus with clowns.
saper321 3 years ago 3

I'd like to talk to someone who comes from academia and believes this is news.
flyingtorpedo 3 years ago
Actually if you pay attention Cenk regularly says that they're an OPINION show. That's the difference between a station like this or the Huffington post. They don't pretend to be impartial news readers (although half the time they are a lot more impartial than some ms media stations I could name.)
I love btw how to a conservative anything they don't agree with is "ultra liberal". The US is the most right-wing of any developed country in the world apart maybe from Israel.

Ok, then click on their you tube website and explain to me why they are claiming to be a news channel. GOTCHA!

What do you think McCain campaigned on? Remember, "Drill, baby drill!"
On November 4th, the American people chose not to drill. They chose Obama, the buddy of the muslims. Do you honestly think that Obama will allow the muslim oil money to dry up? "Hell No."
retired77070 3 years ago
torpedo, where do they call themselves a "news station"? or is that something you just imagined to be the case because it suits you? They deal with the news, obviously, but that is different.
theotormon 3 years ago
"The real revolution is in daring to be honest with people. We dont patronize our viewers or lie to them. We have real conversations and deliver the news honestly."
Now I don't know how you comprehend that but it's pretty coherent to me. Obviously thay are claiming to deliver news fairly without biasness. Unbelieveable. This is right off their home page man. You get it now? They are claiming to be a news station.
flyingtorpedo 3 years ago
flyingtorpedo, rush limbaugh delivers the news, but he is not a news station. how do you reconcile this?
theotormon 3 years ago
He is a commentator he doesn't claim to deliver news.
flyingtorpedo 3 years ago
Yeah, and TYT calls themselves a "talk show" on the same page you are referencing. A talk show and a news show have a different format. Look up news program & talk show on wikipedia. It agrees with me. But yes, they deliver news. So does Rush. So does O'Reilly. We here generally do believe TYT are more honest, but not necessarily less biased.
Also, please address the point I and others made that TYT does frequently admit a bias.
theotormon 3 years ago
I have never seen that before. The only thing I have ever seen is they used to say they were a liberal show. Since then, they have taken it down and are claiming to be "fair and honest". They are more of the same in media. They are going down the same worn out paths of media. And they want a gig at msnbc. lmao. They want biased talking points to reach a larger audience and play it off like they are being "fair". It's quite amazing.
flyingtorpedo 3 years ago
I don't know what to say other than that they do or they have. To say they are a liberal show is to say they have a bias. Theoretically, the nightly news does not come from a political angle.
In a sense I can see what you are saying about the wording on their site, but I think you are blowing it out of proportion. If I detected a real change in the way they portrayed themselves, I would be upset, but I don't see such a change.
theotormon 3 years ago
i say they should pass the bill as as originally intended and then ask the republicans if they want to be in on the next one or be just as ineffective....
