Thanks. I like your videos. Do these gyms you mentioned in Japan have spin classes or other group fitness? I am a spin enthusiast and would find it difficult to have to do cardio work on machines all the time. I live in the Chicago area now but may be moving to Japan as part of my job.

When I was in Japan two years ago I tried hard to find gyms and really only got one workout in at a University. But I liked the university gym and that also might be an option for membership if they have a community offer.

I have a related question as well. Are there supplement providers like GNC in Japan?

Although not as extensive as GNC, most sporting goods stores I go to around Kansai have a pretty solid stock of protein powders and various exercise related supplements. Common stuff!

I have a question that relates to the question of if women like muscle men, i'm not a muscle man but I'm REALLY tall, I'm about 6'7" which i think is about 201cm. my question is, what do japanese people think about a guy who is as big as an NFL defensive lineman?

I'm also fit the basic stereotype of a gaijin blonde hair, blue eye, etc.

Nice set of factoids re gyms in Japan, guys! I actually sent kansaipj a pm a while back about gyms (on another acct) and he was really helpful. Good to see a full vid. I pay $29 a month in the u.s. to "get my huge on," but your rates seem on par w/ the majority of the other gyms in D.C. (we're a "recession-proof" city though, so... euhh). But, no beer commentary on this video? Caahmaan, I believe that's called "slacking on your macking."

Depends what is in that set. I think if you do an internet search you can find the info you are looking for. In Japan, owning a decent set of weights is not an option for most people due to space considerations, but I know several people who do own their own.
