I find it interesting you use two HL7s. I almost always fly with 1 HL7 and a Prometheus. I fire them together so you get a good balance of shield and hull chew.
by a pretty wide margin Freespace 2 IMO is still the best Sci Fi flight sim released and it came out in 1999.
you can still play the game on new computers in original form with patch 1.2 installed but the Source Code Team has improved the graphics dramatically and boosted resolution to support widescreen really improving the game overall.
the game sells for $5.00 at Great old Games and you can download all of the updates for free at the Hard Light website.
Rockets dont 'thrust against the atmosphere' they thrust by ejecting material at high velocity out the ass end, and thus provides force, or thrust, in the direction desired. For every action, equal and opposite reaction, etc etc. Newtons laws, you should read up on em. :)
OOhhhh Big Brains is in the schoolyard, aren't you supposed to be masturbating to scientist monthly right about about now?lololololololololololololololollololollololollo
Actually if you read up on the documentation of the sim you'll find that it's constructed upon a much looser interpretation of space. How well do you think a game would sell with no sound effects?
In some science fiction universes starfighters and starships have tubes of air along with the engines the air is jettisoned out and then then it provides a medium to thrust against. But in FreeSpace 2 they use primarily Ion engines and other high tech propulsion units. They don't require a atmosphere to work against....
I love the exchange between Koth and the Colossus, really quote-able stuff there.

@Monolithan666 the subach has a better rate of fire, so it's q quite good combo to have 2 of those

What I want to know is
When you're in an atmosphere, rockets thrust against the atmosphere, propelling you forward.
What do they thrust against in the vacuum of space?
