  • :'( my Granpa was n the Battleship but he died :'+

  • well put together video,,,,thanks

  • U forgot jaws u did twelve days of terror but u did not say jaws poor jaws:( u left him out lol he wants to eat people too

  • The thing is this.... If you knew the creek, which I do, you wouldn't debate the whole fresh/salt thing. The thing is that nobody put any real science to this incident until many years after the fact. This "creek" isn't nearly as flushed with fresh water as most people who hear the word creek assume. The daily tide floods this inlet with a massive amount of salt water twice daily. The attack happened in July, and during a heatwave, and a moon tide. This spot was flushed with plenty of sea water

  • Eerie music. Interesting photos.

  • according to dude on "river monsters" ...animal planet....history channel... bull shark is the only shark which can live in both....... wtf is a "river shark"? great whites cannot survive in fresh water.... cannot get O2

  • @mrsmelzbad But a high tide due to a full moon would make freshwater as salty as the ocean!

  • @mrsmelzbad Hammerheads can aswell.

  • @mrsmelzbad it was saltwater lake and creek

  • there used to be a shark in guntersville alabama in 2008 i don't know what kind though

  • @bullettripp1 that was a Bull shark. Bull sharks can survive in fresh water

  • bull sharks are the only shark in the world that can live in fresh and salt water, and are confirmed man-eaters......................

  • @mrsmelzbad white shark can live in a creek for like a few weeks but eventually die and a river shark can live in rivers

  • well this is a nice but sad part of history. notice how all the names are -rich yankee names. thats how it was back then. is this near newalk airport area.

  • @peteboy1113 Matawan is located 40 minutes south of Newark Airport.

  • I've seen the movie 12 days of terror. And I go to the Jersey Shore every summer.

  • I was raised about 20 minutes away from Matawan (Keansburg), and I remember people telling me about the Matawan Creek attacks. I used to think it was bullshit until I watched the documentaries. I did not believe a shark would even bother going into towns like Belford, Keansburg, Keyport, etc., nevermind the Matawan Creek. But to think that they could, it's always wise to know to be careful going into ANY body of water connected to the ocean.

  • Educational, without sensationalism. Thanks.

  • Why the hostilties? I thought he did a good job, telling a true, terrifing story with a lot of "before" and "after" effects. But you're right, New Jersey has waaaaay to many faggots, not including McGreevy........

  • the 1916 attacks of NJ inspired Peter Benchley to write Jaws. Just learned this, interesting

  • I got the book "12 days of terror" for christmas. This series of shark attacks fascinates me.A shark attacking people in a creek.

  • I swung by the creek on the way home from work today. Most of the industry, factories, etc. that existed along the creek back then are all gone now but area is much more built up and busy now. It's hard to believe people once bathed in that water during the summer months. To look at it you just can't get your head around the idea of a shark attacking people there; and yet it did happen. I think most of the residents probably don't even know about the attacks. They're not publicized by the town.

  • Actually I should mention that they DO hold an annual "Sharkfest" in Matawan to commemorate the anniversary of the attacks, so that does count. It's not unlike what Salem, MA has done to capitalize on the history of the witchcraft trials of 1692.

  • Thanks! More of this fascinating stuff please!

  • Wow very nice job. I love sharks, & the 1916 attacks have always facinated me. You're really lucky that you went the graves.
