Al Hofmann looked EXACTLY the way a drag racer should look. He had a "racer's face" and always seemed to be a bit of an outsider. A nitro version of The Man In Black. The sport lost a lot with his retirement and has yet to find his replacement.

I met Al once at the Turkey Rod Run while I was selling some parts. He walked up with his sun glasses and a cold Budweiser, I couldn't place his face at that moment, when he started walking away I remembered him and I asked him what Nitro Methane meant to him and he turned back and said " Only when its on fire". He was one cool character. RIP

At the time I thought he was a bit growly, but Al is a RACER of the past and I miss him. They don't make racers like this anymore, most are polished, with the exception of Force, and Warren Johnson. I guess that is why Force and Al's rivalry was so great. RIP Al.

This is a great tribute video. I have watched it about a dozen times. I liked Al Hofmann for the same reason many people liked Earnhardt Sr., he seemed like a regular guy, not some larger than life super hero.

Dude Timmah! This one was EPIC! Al was "Bad to the Bone". How do you come up with the perfect song for ALL these Video's??? I miss Al on the Track, but this video does really put his career in perspective. Starting the Vid w/ His EGG and John Force then Ending with him Beating John in Pomona 96'! That's just Poetic!
