Yes. Budgie was the quiet, non-confrontational one, Siouxsie the occasional ranter/raver,wine glass smasher,etc.) Hey it worked for 15 years or so, but maybe their personalties ceased complementing each other, and started repelling.

And I wonder, will we ever get to hear Budgie's side of it?

Also, I wonder what he's been up to the last 2-3 years (secret projects?) I think he loves music and drumming too much to disappear. I bet tons of musicians would love to work with him.

yep, it might be difficult to replay her playing just the drum! hehe I'm an argentinian and I discovererd the banshees in my early 13, very difficult to do that living so far. I remember in the '85 when they went down to gave the tinderbox tour concert and I felt that I would died of happiness at that time...

More like worked for 25 years or so. Budgie joined the Banshees in 1979 and I believe they were officially an item by 1981. I'm stunned that they split, they seemed like true soul mates to me. Hard to believe you could be with someone for over 25 years and then pack it in, innit?

True.They were married for close to 15 years, but were reportedly a pair since that first Creatures LP. Budgie even said it was that steamy photo session (now viewable by all forever)for the cover art, that first made the sparks fly! I too thought they were one of those lucky rare complementary couples likely to last forever together. The Creatures are dead, the last Banshee is banished from Sioux's musical circle. Sad, but it would be even sadder if she hadn't come up with such a good solo CD!

there u go, lyris by Sioux, Evans, Jones. Steve Evans: guitar/Chralie Jones: piano, uprightbass/ Clive Dreamers: Drums and some others... I think that the most abstract lyris written by siouxsie is "Venus Sands" from the album Boomerang by the creatures... but I love it too! steal is a crime!!! LOL!

Those 3 names are unknown to me, but maybe I'll try googling them. Some of Siouxsie's lyrics are real puzzles, they're so abstract. Or sometimes I'll find I've had a completely wrong idea about a song's meaning, only to find an interview later where Sioux explains what she actually had in mind! I don't recall Venus Sands, though I have Boomerang on my pc. I'd like to get "Hai", 'cause Japanese Taiko drums get me "high"!

Turns out the more I hear the new CD the more I like like like it! And One Mile Below is one of the better cuts. Sea of Tranquility is a standout. Others are

first rate. Siouxsie's a bit off key on a bunch of notes on One Mile Below, but I now believe it's deliberate (instead her voice failing)to create an atmosphere, 'cause she's pretty much on key on the others. Siouxsie, please come to Vancouver in '08!

Well, there are some surprisingly direct lyrics like "What am I gonna do, now that I know the truth? It's loveless...How can you be so cruel?", and "If it doesn't break you, it will make you. Don't be afraid, don't shed a tear..."

She admits: "There is some anger there on the album...

I think men and women are very different and maybe we're not totally suited as partners.", and also ackowledges the starting anew aspect of the breakup apparent in some songs.

Well, Siouxsie described it as a kind of a "sci-fi" song in some interview. It's the longest cut on the album at 5:13.

It's mid tempo, and emphasizes piano and strings.

I haven't focused on the meaning of lyrics so much yet (there's lots of sea imagery, and she mentions the mantaray, and stars too!), but I love Sioux's vocal. It's my fave of the whole CD, at least as far as melody and vocal performance go!Fave SATB album? gee I don't know yet! I have fave songs instead.

Hmm, well, now I see "Sea..." is the next track right after "Drone". One doesn't lead directly into the other. There's a gap in between, but (only)the very beginning of "Sea" has a bit of resemblance to the "buzzing" sound at the end of "Drone". "Drone" is almost a novelty song, with its slightly goofy melody/vocal and chorus about the "buzz buzzing" bees. I think she may be saying bees' and people's lives have similarities, with humans too sometimes living in a hive-like "drone zone"!

To me, that one, last track on the CD,references the disintegrating marriage again with lyrics like:

"You're in love with the idea of me...Hard to face this deception...I'm in love with the idea of you...Things aren't quite what they seem to be...Cursed human vanity..."

A "softer edged" piano based tune.

The CD has no weak songs, but I prefer some of the others...something about a "plodding" melody on that one.

Yes, IIDKY , one of the CD's better songs,starts as a soft edged piano one, nice melody, then it has some sudden dramatic guitar surprises, and ends with inspired distorted guitar noise! I'm guessing it's another angle on the bust-up: Being hopeful about her new life.

I nearly was able to see solo Siouxsie live for "Dreamshow" in Chicago but it was impossible to get into the city because traffic that day really sucked. What's your favorite SATB/Creatures song? I too missed 4 Vancouver chances. A fan in the late '70s, I owned "The Scream". In early '80s I dug the 1st singles LP (Spellbound, Arabian Knights, Love in Void, Israel, HK Garden). But I lost track, only rediscovering her the past year. I like "Best Of"-CD2's extended mixes: Stargazer, Kiss Them for Me, Dazzle. Dear Prudence is a fave Sioux vocal. "Cat Walk"'s fun 'cause S. & I are both cat devotees, and "Sea of Light"'s subject: dying/after death experience - many more!
