Yes, this is real. This is Tommi Mäkinen, and it was in the Rally of Corsica in 1997 if I recall correctly.. Almost instantly after hitting the cow, he went out of control down the cliffs. It's not fake. When there's an impact at a certain speed the object not in motion absorbs all of the energy from the impact. There was probably no more than a small dent or two on the from bumper.

The cow was standing still and the car was moving over 100 mph. Since the cow was not stationary (I.E. concrete wall, post, etc.) it was just moved out of the way.

It's simple physics.

besides...from the on-board camera you cant see the front of the car...its a safe bet that the car was indeed not driveable afterwards
