Tevin Campbell has a great tenor voice. He could actually be a counter-tenor because of his very high tessitura. His highest note is a soprano D (D6) and he can do fifth octave belting. He has great technical abilties with his vocals. I really havent heard much low notes from him, but other than that his tone is great. the longest belted note at 3:18 is a C5 in mixed chest voice. I love that note! He will always be remebered as a greatest male vocalist. I wish he had more recognition!

Tevin most recent stint was in the Broadway production of Hairspray and that is a predominantly white audience. I really do think this guy had that "it" factor. Maybe not personality wise, but musically (his voice alone) are almost comparable to the greats like Luther Vandross, Steve Perry (yes, steve Perry from Journey), Alexander O'Neal, and El Debarge.

I really do think this guy had that "it" factor. Maybe not personality wise, but musically (his voice alone) are almost comparable to the greats like Luther Vandross, Steve Perry (yes, steve Perry from Journey), Alexander O'Neal, and El Debarge.
Prince and Michael Jackson can/could sing their asses off but they were more about the showy aspect of the music industry than actual vocal prowess.
But this man, especially as young as he was, could BLOW, but Mariah Carey OWNED the 90s. (cont).

That scandal totaly distroyed Tevin and he must have cryed so much. I cryed. The scandal pathed the way for Usher to take over. if it didnt happen Usher would have been long forgotten for sure because in them days it was about the singing and Tevin could really actually sing it was like comparing Whitney houston with Missy elliot. @dredgreat- Stokley is a bad boy! I love his voice. But I meant those who are more or less famous or popular. Tevin in this vid just sounds amazing! And soulful. The only one out there that sounds this good, while still maintaining that soulful sound, is probably alicia keyes.

He is such a talented singer and really belts out those notes in this performance. His vocal range is impressive for his age in this clip. Personally i think he should be producing albums again as he still has a strong fan base, he should make light of what happened a few years back and show how he can over-come certain events life throws at you.
