I did an IAT test involving racial face types. I noticed as I took the test that some of the faces had different impacts on me. Eg some of the female faces (of all races) were attractive to me and there was a definite reflex to pause momentarily to enjoy. This was unconscious - until I noticed it.
In my experience there was alot more going on in my responses than merely racial biases. This leads me to question the degree of accuracy the test can deliver.
My result was that I associate weapons slightly more with white people. The weapons at display were often old weapons. A cannon and a bayonet for instance.
I dunno. I tried the religion demo, but honestly it felt more like a hunt for words and a test of memory, than anything else. Christianity and Hinduism are the ones most familiar to me, so they naturally came up on top. This however doesn't mean that I favor them, because I'm asked to group them with positive words. I believe a better approach would be to give you the names and have you decide rapidly between good and bad yourself. I am unimpressed so far. Maybe I'll try another test later on.
Well of course there is natural bias. What people need to remember, however, is that racism, sexism, etc is not the same as a natural bias to one's own "group" but an overt acting on that bias to discriminate against differing groups.
I consistently landed in their tests as having a "slight automatic preference" for whichever group I was in, but that doesn't make me a bigot, racist, sexist, or anything of the sort. Acting inappropriately towards those groups is what would make me such.
Sounds spot on. Instant impulse has served pretty well over the eons. One can easily see that the "rational" response is an overlay to the immediate impulse if one bothers to examine one's own thought and action processes. Just as "society" is an overlay to family.
Useful information to one who would "know one's self".
Not the first IAT I did... still always interesting to find out more about yourself.
Now I'm just wondering... do you often explain psychological methods while walking around? Like it. :)

@wlfrdbss Occasionally I do. I'm quite interested in psychology but only as an amateur

I got stuck on the race one, I think it's a trap.

Your data suggest little to no automatic preference between Special Programs and Integrated Classrooms.
Your data suggest a slight automatic identification with Democrats compared to Republicans.

But the test does not test what the reality is. It just proves that people don't want to be called names, like biggot, or nigger, or cracker.
