savage- i moved from tempe to pdx. what a fukkin anthesis.
portland rules, ok we really need to stop telling the world, tho. if someone asks you "what's it like there?" the proper response is " it rains every single day, it sucks"
Although the neighborhood has experienced some traumatic changes over the past few years, peace and love are still very much alive in SE.
The Daily Grind passed quietly from Portland a little more than a year ago, put into bankruptcy by it's absentee owners, and "releasing" 30 long term employees (including myself) with two weeks notice, no severance, and even the arbitrary "deduction" of 20% of everyone's expected vacation pay. I guess bankruptcy means never having to say you're sorry.
Is it as great as everbody says? I was only there once, but I loved it when I was there. I want to go back. If I had a perfect city, it would be Portland, OR. I live in stinkin milwaukee. It is s....o boring. I hate the snow here too. Not to mention the awful public tranportation.
I may have missed it but I didn't see Claudia's Sports Bar in amongst those photos. I live in Australia and have visited this area on seven seperate trips and Claudia's is my favourite pub in the U.S. The Hawthorne district would be an excellent place to live and I envy anyone who has the privilage to live there.Oregon is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth I have experienced, except Vegas of course.
GET THE HELL OUT!!! Only joking man!!! You'll love it here. I've lived in Oregon my whole life (Portland/Salem/and a few others). But i've been pretty much everywhere else. I won't ever live anywhere else than Oregon, or Washington. Theres just too much here. Close to the Ocean, close to the moutains, the sceanery is butifle like no other place. And the people are hella nice. But beware, Oregon in general (especialy Portland) is a rather Liberal place.
I know alot of people from the mid west are rather conservative. Not that that's a bad thing, we'll still accept you just the same, it's just that alot of conservatives have a hard time adjusting to a liberal city.
That music makes Hawthorne seem boring.

There is more to Hawthorne than the 2 maybe 3 blocks on Hawthorne that was shown & multiple shots of the Bagdad. There's A LOT more to see.

Sometimes there are benefits for living on Hawthorne. The crowds outside of your house get annoying though ]:.

I was at the Bagdad and met Bruce Campbell at his book signing/Q&A....... it was awesome!
The Hawthorn Theater is pretty cool, although the guy in charge of the shows is a complete douchebag.....

I'm WAY out in outer SE, but damn if i don't loe this city.
Honestly, i have filled my car with gas, and just DROVE through it.
It's simply amazing. And i'd know, seeing as how i'm from Phoenix, AZ... I couldn't ask for a more amazing city.
