  • This commercial was cool come

    Back Mac McDonald's needs you

  • The moon head still exists. It's in Bob Burn's prop collection. He also operated the lip synchining for that head.

  • I was at this guy's house and we drew a picture of mac tonight on the dresser with sharpies.

  • Did a meteor just hit the world's largest McDonalds?

  • #newsakafia so was ur stupid late night trip to McDonald's comment. How corny was that, and you have the audacity to talk about me. CLOWN!!!

  • I meant Jay Leno

  • Okay I'm late to the party, has anybody used a Jay Kemp comparison joke yet or can I claim it. Lol

  • Bobby Darin's people sued McDonald's over using the song..and they had tp pull these ads.

  • @WiseGuy5674 That shows a lot of gall on the part of the Darin estate. Bobby Darin had nothing to do with Mac the Knife except singing it the 1950s. It was around long before then, from the Threepenny Opera by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht in the 1920s.

  • Wasnt this guy in Nightbreed

  • Is he mooning the viewers?

  • McDonald's ads had so much more class back in these days.

  • I'm trying to find one of the commercials featuring the Mac Night toys. I had a few - one I remember in a car and another had some sort of accessory but I don't know what it may have been.

  • HIS FACE LOOKS LIKE A TWO WAY DILDO...

  • @Hoppers002 At least Reagan had a sense of humor.

  • Classic!

  • Let's see, a man with a crecent moon head singing and playing a piano and floating around the world on a cloud while giant McDonalds food appears in the night sky. Ok, I think whoever thought up this commercial needs to take a drug test! After all, crack & crank can make people think of the wildest things!

  • why can't they bring back mac tonight to scare a whole new generation of kids?

  • @franzchick66 QUOTE: "why can't they bring back mac tonight to scare a whole new generation of kids?"

Funny, we weren't scared of it at the time. Are you trying to say that kids today are more "sensitive" than our generation was? OH wait, what am I saying, the nerfed Warner Brothers cartoons because they were too "violent" or "racist" for today's PC society........

  • I don't remember why, but as a kid that moon guy really scared me.

  • @wolf25ph That thing scared me too o.O

  • Michael Buble?

  • That's one phenomenal flying racist, that is.

  • wow, what memories...this commercial brings me back to the Circuit City days, when business was booming, and when gas prices were down, and a President who actually knew what he was doing. when cartoons were actually fun to watch, and now where stuck with some lame cartoon called sponge bob and a reality shows galore like the jersey shore, teen mom and the Fantasy Factory .what the heck happened to Bugs Bunny, Knotts Landing Gonzilla and soul train?. this country going down.

  • Gay-ass ad... I hated them then and now, well they suck just as bad....

  • this video is so cool, thank you for posting it!!!

  • I used to LOVE those salads!!!! Those and the salad shakers....I wish they still had them :(

  • man Mcdonalds had some cheap but good quality food back in the day. Now every Mcdonalds i stop at sells some sorry ass food. Every time i order a big mac, or a double cheese burger it looks like someome stepped on it, the burgers look mashed and folded. One Mcdonalds i was at was really bad, lazy ass workers were standing around talking , while pissed off people were standing in line for a long time. others were taking food back because it was wrong or flat... The moon man would be pissed!

  • This guy used to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid. He still creeps me out. I remember when I was like 6 or 7 my mom had a part time job at Mcdonalds and she used to bring home happy meal toys sometimes. One of them was Mac Tonight on a jet ski. lol

  • I always knew there was a McDonald's in the north pole.

  • i remember all those 80's Mc Donald commericals

  • i only know of this b/c sadly my mom said that my head looks like this guy when i wear a hat... FML

  • Moon Man got the money in the bank

  • the commercial is more peaceful than the other commercials

  • He looks like ted williams

  • I think this guy looks like Elton John.

  • Moon Man!!!

  • Well you can see Mac sitting behind a real piano singing his song on the hour. Check out the McDonalds in Long Beach California on Carson Blvd just west of the 605. The owner of this franchise owns 5 McDonalds and all of them have a theme.

  • The guy that played mac tonight is the same guy that played Abe in Hellboy I and II.

  • @ashleigh315

that guy is Doug Jones! And he's an alumni of the university I go to...Ball State

He's also in this movie "My Name is Jerry". It's his first appearance in a film without makeup!

  • The guy that played mac tonight is the same guy that played Abe in Hellboy I and II.

  • Luckily I don't remember these commercials from my childhood, but I imagine that any night where I might be drunk, or maybe took one too many unisom this would cause sever nightmares cause this is creepy!!! It's almost as bad as clowns, except I can sort get a cool vibe from the moon man

  • and i thought this generation was pretty fucked up

  • And, when I was a kid, saw this commercial.....I had to go rightaway to Mc. Donalds for a burger. Yeah....commercials for franchises really works!!

  • Whether it is stepping out for an evening dinner, going to a piano bar and listening to some great music, whether it is a stroll down a brightly lit walkway down the side of the ocean or river with beautiful fountains glistening in the soft glow of whatever is illuminating them, there is something very magical about night and I think this commercial caught it just right.

  • Holy crap what memories this brings!! Awesome.

  • All I hear now...is "I'm lovin It" They need to change their slogan they've been running the same phrase for at least around 2002. I remember when the I'm loving it cups came out in 2002, so I know that it was "AT LEAST" 2002 when the "I'm loving it" slogan came out. It's time for a new one McDonald's. Yeah, don't think people pay attention to these slogans and when they came out did ya? Well I do.

  • I remember the network always playing these McDonalds commercial about 10 times during each episode of Moon Lighting. I used to get tired of seeing them.

  • What was MCDonalds trying to create some vibrant nightlife in teh restaurants. Whatr was next BIG MAC AFTER HOURS.....

  • What was MCDonalds trying to create some vibrant nightlife in teh restaurants. Whatr was next BIG MAC AFTER HOURS.....

  • creepy i remember this shit hahaha!!!!! yesssss!!!!

  • So, apparently there's a giant McDonald's at the North Pole and in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada both visible from space....and watch out gulf coast, looks like another hurricane is coming at around the :25 mark

  • Now that moon needs to meet up with Ronald McDonald.

  • If Rick Astley and Max Headroom had a baby, this is what they would get.

  • Moon Man is Awesommme!

  • Apparently that is Doug Jones from Hellboy 1 & 2 and Pan's Labyrinth

  • Mcdonald's was new enterprise back so they made a big commercial.

  • seeing mcd sitting on top of the world. now thats scary

  • This song obviously inspired by Mack the knife by Bobby Darin. Brings back memories of the 80's. Creepy moon guy yes but still worth the upload thanks for taking the time.

  • Sepultura510- Actually, even though its most associated with Bobby Darren these days, the song itself is a bit older. It was written in 1928 for the musical "Die Dreigroschenoper" aka "The Threepenny Opera" in english.

  • See where Natalie got her start!!!

search youtube. "its mac tonite mcdonalds"

this is her first tv commercial!!! lmao again!

  • LOL!! Hell ya!! Funny ass shit!

  • @sonsoffaith I just heard that people call Natalie MacTonight. LMAO

  • Where might I find a .gif of this availible for download?

  • Hes scary! Im glad they dont show him on tv anymore

  • regards from ytmnd

  • Words:

    When the stars come

    Out to play babe

    I twinkle and show (Ooh)

    Dinner out of sight

    Yeah the nighttime

    Is golden light time

    Dinner at McDonalds (Showtime)

    It's Mac Tonight

Now rate this comment 5 and sing along!

  • its mac tonight, come on make it make tonight.

  • Great commercial! I remember seeing this way back when I was younger! Thanks for sharing!

  • This is....actually pretty damn cool!

  • That's JAY LENO! He's always workin' it !

  • ie xpected to hear

"hey guys its me moon man here"

  • haha

    "just here rapeing your mother"

  • Wow...they have a hurrican sitting over the gulf coast on that globe. WTF is up with that? LOL

  • is that jay leno

  • wtf i said the same thing

  • NO it's Quentin Tarantino

  • lol!!!

  • @URALooza no, actually that's Doug Jones, more commonly known for his role as Abe Sapien in Hellboy

  • @URALooza No. Mac Tonight's chin isn't that big.

  • Holy Hell, I remember Mac Tonight. Memories of the 80's

  • I didnt know Jay Lenno did Mc Donalds comercials... LMAO

  • Man, Bertolt Brecht must have been rolling in his grave with laughter when this commercial premiered

  • It's like Max Headroom fused with the Elephant Man.

  • i use to love mac tonight commercials when i was like 4.

  • My dad drew two big ole' moons and cut them out and tied them together and I went as this guy for Halloween. When was that, like '86 or something?

  • that sounds way cool. very creative. somewhere in my garage i've got a happy meal toy of him.

  • this used to scare the shit outta me as a child!

  • I know man, he creeped me out.

  • Sweet sweet mac. Makes me so hungry. Cant get the mac tonight theme out of my head!

  • The moon is full tonight. He ate a BIG mac.

  • I once dated a chick with a great body on her, but she had a chin on her like the ol' Mac Tonight.

  • Mac Tonight > Ronald McDonald

  • I can't believe that MAC TONIGHT is Doug Jones! I just found this out. Check out his website, it's all there. Abe Sapian, Pan, Silver Surfer...Mac Tonight. That changes a little piece of my childhood lol.

  • I remember there was a huge Mac Tonight and Piano hanging from the ceiling in a McDonalds in hartford, CT for a long ass time. Even way after the commercials were long done.

  • 3 old commercials and 1 2007 propoganza. I need a hobby. But, he was sooooooooo cool! they should keep him!

  • I find the commercials very soothing like a lullaby

  • Better than Louis Armstrong.

  • To all the morons who go on about this KKK shit, yes i know where your getting it from ,but he's supposed to be a moon, and so your basically saying the half moon in the sky is KKK as well?

  • hay, I don't think he's scary or anything, it remines me of the good old days!! Well at lest my good old days:)

  • Moon Man!!!

  • Odd as it may sound, I actually became aware of the song "Mack the Knife" through this commercial. For years I thought that song was about McDonald's!

  • me too. I think alot of kids growing up at this time did, too. Mac the Knife was way before our time and hadn't been part of pop culture again until this McD's. commercial.

  • I used to have nightmares of Mac Tonite. The one dream i remember vividly is where his head and arms grew out of my bedroom wall, and he started tickling me until I couldn't take it anymore.

I was both enthralled and terrified of him/it at the same time.

  • Sun Man likes watermelon and Moon Man hates Charles Moonington. I wanna give a shout out to farkle, hypersaxon, and everyone else at YTMND

  • You want to give a Moon Shout Out? OH KAY KAY KAAAAY!

  • I remember this spot when I was little! I love it!

  • Me too! So cool, I looked everywhere for this commercial. I was six when I saw it!

  • I used to be PETRIFIED of this commercial when I was younger...I remember crying to my mom being scared of the "moon guy" LOL

  • Kewl; I remember this commercial.

  • Hey it's Jay Leno!

  • what if someone actually looked like that?

  • This commercial makes me want to get mcdonalds at night. I know their food is bad for you but is seems like the commercial is saying otherwise, "It's okay to have a cool or hot treat at McDonalds, go out with your friends at night and have a great time". It makes me want to go to McDonalds.

  • Its called the psychology of marketing. I know what you mean.

  • Did he shoot a missle at the McDonalds restaurant?

  • that is probabaly the scariest thing ive ever seen.

  • is nobody else terrified of this guy?

  • I remember this guy when i was like 2 years old back in 1990 i never knew his name but i had a McDonalds toy of him

  • yeah the mo0n guy i love these comercials as a kid! good memories

  • Wow Mac Tonight is one bitchin' d00d.

  • why the hell is there a giant mcdonalds at the north pole and vancouver

  • Where mac tonight greets you with a big mac and coke.

  • When are we going to the McCorndog???

  • am i the only one who notices a hurricane at 15 second's in the bottom left of the screen?

  • Nope. I noticed too. Apparently, as shown at the end of the commercial, McDonalds is located at the North Pole. All the same, I am the kind of guy who is willing to survive polar bears, frigid waters, snowstorms, and even Santa Claus to get a Big Mac.

  • Does that mean that McDonald's Hamburgers are made of Polar bear meat? I thought they were made of kangaroos?

  • LOL whatever animal McDonald's burgers are made out of, it's pretty damn addictive!

  • i loved Mac Tonight!! i havent seen that in years

  • And this makes me remember the old spoof of this commercial. . .

    "Oh that moon head,

    Wearing shades now,

    Plays piano.

    Get me a gun.

    I've got a magnum.

    It's fully loaded.

    Gonna shoot the moon tonight!

  • Unless they've remodeled the inside, I think the McDonald's in Rice Lake, Wisconsin (which is retro '50s style... last I am aware, anyway), has that moon on his piano in the back of the restaurant...

I would think they've remodeled by now, but... it's Rice Lake, Wisconsin, so maybe not.

  • Why does the moon need SUNglasses?

  • Haha I remember this. Doug Jones used to come speak at my elementary school sometimes.

  • Did he scare you with his Mack Tonight costume

  • I don't have sound, but I can imagine Bobby Darrin's estate getting mad, which they did. I wish Bertolt Brecht (the Marxist writer of the original German lyrics-about rape, arson, and murder!) had been alive. He probably would have just sued them, but in my wildest fantasies he sends the East German police after McDonald's sympathisers! I guess I have a dark sense of humor.

  • I have a Mc Donald's toy of him still.

  • Doug Jones!!

  • Looks like Matt Dillon in "the Outsiders.

  • I was either 5 or 6 when this commercial aired. Life was simple then.

  • I loved Mac Tonight I miss him.. he still has comemrcials in other countries :(

  • Was that his name? I never knew that. Those ads were classy, and a good counterpoint to Ronald & Company's funny spots. I miss them too.

  • freaky indeed

  • Yup...he still scares the s**t out of me.

  • strange that i loved these commercials as a child but i find them creepy as an adult...

  • strange that i loved these commercials as a child but i find them creepy as an adult...

  • i always thought of this as clever marketing aimed at pot heads on where to get your grub on

    after tooking fest

  • nice piano riff haha AT MCDONALDS.... 'SHOWTIME" ITS MAC TONIGHT

  • LOL ... I've seen the other two before during my childhood but never this one, this is great, it's like the big band Mac Tonight XD

I wonder if someone can upload the full rat pack version of Frank Sinatra singing Mack the Knife?

  • The song was a parody of Mack The Knife by Bobby Darin.

  • this one was so creepy. im surprised that they were able to sustain business after this creepfest

  • laughing my ass off....

  • all you guys below are cool and right, mac T is aight.

  • Mac Tonight was a pimp. Couple of years ago, I made a giant Mac Tonight backdrop for a college formal... then some hater straight swiped it before it was over. Apparently Mac was more popular than I thought.

  • this add campaign started early '87 i was dating a cow named Carmen and i over-did it with my mac tonight commercial impressions...so she dumped me....that being one of the reasons. The second reason was i always played with her fat!!

  • Man, I loved Mac Tonight when I was a kid. I remember having some of the plastic Mac toys and stuff.

I wish they'd bring him back.

  • Mac tonight...big dipper...moon head...creepy

  • that is the scariest shit i have ever seen.

  • Why does he say Dipper?

    this ad is wyrd

  • Look what he is passing when he says that...a Chicken Nugget being "Dipped" in sauce...in the sky like a consolation. It's a commercial from the late 80's...all 80's adds were a bit weird, but that's the 80's for ya.

  • I even heard "when they stop coke" at the start of this commercial(the first lines mac sang)and there was even coke beside him or something

  • these aren't the words.

    or are they?

  • ne-yo's sister looks like this moon i swear lmao

  • I think this was around 87-88. The Ray Charles moon!

  • At McDonald's, It's Mac Tonight!!! When did this ad first appear??? I totally remember it too.

  • He kicked soo much ass, BRING HIM BACK

  • Hell yeah man. I got a kick out of those ad's back in the day

  • Mac Tonight... What the hell is that?!

  • Oh my God..I remember this!!

  • this comercial ruocks, i love the moonman!

  • I hate McDonalds but moonface man rules!
