Damn I love the series and the movie. I just hope that the live action one comes even close to being half as good as the original series. If not than it's a definate epic fail by Fox and they should be banned from ever laying their hands on the rights to other great animes or anime in general.

After all, if Siskel and Ebert criticized them for not criticizing them enough in the Godzilla movie, how the hell do they expect to actually make something decen with anime?

I know the feeling. I have all the mangas, the complete series and the animated movie and loved every single one of them!

But given that Fox was also behind the DBZ fuck up, I don't really hold out that much high hope for Cowboy Bebop...

Such a shame to because it truely is what I consider to be the Godfather of Anime. Or I guess if you prefer, the Sopranos.

In many respects though, it is. You'be got a mafia drug dealing type theme playing out through a good portion of the show, much of it being told around or involving Spike, and internal conflicts that play out through the last few episodes.

Just giving people a bit of a more modern comparison for those that haven't even heard of the Godfather today or haven't gotten around to watching it if they have.

The thing about Japanese made movies based on an anime is that they don't really have any connection with the original story line, just the characters. If you've seen other movies (like Conan or Naruto) you'll see this. It's like the characters in another demention. So the question is not where or when it happens in the series 'cuz in the series it doesn't excist.

@Colton5 Those also count, though some of them have at least one bad film (James Cameron having the most overrated film known to man called Avatar). Tarantino had no bad film in his filmography, because he knows a good story when he sees it, he films at a slow pace mainly to increase suspense, and his films have a great payoff. Some of these directors and Sergio Leone, one of the greatest western film directors of all time were his inspiration, and he used it to his advantage.

Despite it being a complete rewrite of Dances WIth Wolves, it's still a pretty spectacular film.

Ok, I will admit that the ending was a bit cheesey bordering Ace Ventural Call of the Wild ending. But hey. the animation is epic, the flow is pretty smooth and the action is great.

Plus it gave us something that I never saw before. Stephen Lang without facial hair.

@GojyotheFeared It was more than that. The story was lousy and the acting was very cheesy. We've heard this story, not just from Dances with Wolves, but from movies like Pocahontas and FernGully (didn't like that one either, btw). Doug Walker (aka Nostalgia Critic) stated that even the story was old when those movies did it, and I could clearly see that. Also, I really need to point out, graphics don't make a movie either. Story (except for certain comedies) and good characters make a movie.

If you like movies with fast pacing, fine by me, but don't state your opinions as facts saying that films like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are some of the most boring films ever made, because it's similar to saying the Dollars trilogy by Leone is the most boring film trilogy ever (god have mercy on you if you say that).

as much as I love bebop, I really do, GBU is even cooler.and tarantino is not about mindelss action considering pulp fiction, ingkorious basterds, resevoir dogs, all had barely any action at all. And kil bill and IB are the only that have gore. and blade runner has less talking in it thenmost tarantino films, even though it is a brilliant film.
