  • for swapping a v6 to a v8 do u need to change the rear in it

  • To bad the 5.0 crate engine didnt come out before you did this. Would be a very nice to get some tips to do this to my car

  • @000SaviourXXX

crate 5.0 is no problem, stock 3650 bolts up to it and it fits in the stock location. 2011 GTs have the same frame and is also an s197 chassis designation.

  • @kuro243 Ty for you info :)

  • Nice ride. But you realize the iron 5.4 is 100lbs heavier? And not much faster than a 4.6 3v gt. It seems nice but until it's boosted it's probably slower than a gt. now with boost should show some nice gains but again it would yield the same potential hp with stock internals. So the gain really isn't seen. Except pound for pound as far as boost. So even with a forged/ported/polished long block cost for cost a forged 2012 5.0l swap is the best option. With all that being said I have seriously t

  • @Turbo05gt

The car weighed 3255 with out me in it. As for it being slower, It pulled bolt on GTs no problem before the cams/tune/nitrous. The car is currently down getting the motor built for twins.

  • Congratulations! man feel proud of yourself. I wish one day can do the same with my 01 explorer sport

  • my car is a 2006 mustang V6 and the engine i bought is a 2008 3v mustang GT, it came with the harness and everything. the transmission is a manual T45 with a brand new Flywheel. the engine is complete ready for the swap. i know i need a rear end and possibly a driveshaft also. can you let me know what else i would need?

and if you recommend me doing it or look for professional help?

  • hey bro! i have a 2006 mustang V6 and i been thinking on doing an engine swap on it. i bought the engine and transmission, the engine came with all the harness and the transmission has all the parts as well, the only thing i think i will need is a new clutch because i don't think the V6 will work.

can you please tell me what else do i need to complete the swap besides the rear end and driveshaft.

  • @papi1853

    First off, is it a 3v 5.4 or a 4.6 swap?

You might have to do some repinning as far as the harness. The harness plug style changed in 07, so you need to make sure you have an 05 or 06 harness. Also, what kind of transmission did you get, the stock GT 3650?

As for a clutch, you'll need an 8 bolt flywheel and then just a stock 10 spline GT clutch.

  • sounds sweet congrats on your accomplishment

  • Its a ford what do you expect lol. Great job man, im trying to get a swat for my gt.

  • ya thats all i need, somethin to play with down here, in san antonio, theres weekly races, and im not saying where, but money is at stake, ive even seen pinks been thrown, my old buddy hooked up a nos kit to my v6, and holy crap, that stuff is ridiculous.

  • @gdogg409

Yea, i'm down in San Antonio quite often.

  • @kuro243 well send me a message next time id like to take a look and see ur car.

  • o, no shit? my buddy is a mechanic and he said it shouldnt be a problem, dang, im just gonna sell the block heads and pistons and buy a turbo and new cams for the v6 then.

  • @gdogg409

Well I wouldn't scrap the idea just because of a little extra work. Leave the V6 ecu in the car; you could possibly turn off PATs(which needs to be done anyway) and use the starter harness from the V6 to retain the ignition setup. Then you would need to figure out the gauges.

It can be done but a lot of work for a 2V swap. You could easily just do an xcharger and make a nice amount for playing on the street with.

  • im doin the same thing ur did, i have a 2007 as well but its black, thats the only difference, i cant find a proper intake manifold, what did u go with, i saw u cut a hole in the hood, how hard was that and what kind of manifold did u use. did u change the brakes or mess with the shocks?

  • @gdogg409 I got an unassembled JPC intake manifold and modified it for the taller deck height. I don't know of any stock manifolds that will work.

Brakes were still the same, suspension was an FR500 setup from FRPP.

  • @kuro243 well i was lookin and i found an HPS Harball'r manifold, its completely custom but its mad expensive, and Garrett is an awesome name to name ur first kid by the way its also my first name lol. And one more question you said you got the tranny first, but ill be gettin the tranny last due to money, but would u know if the 5 speed auto would bolt up to the new triton v8?

  • @gdogg409 The hardballer manifold, as far as I know is only for the 5.4 2V. As far as I could find, the only people making a 5.4 3V manifold was MMR and JPC. I went with the later and Justin is an awesome guy to work with.

As for your trans, is it the 5R55S?

  • @kuro243 honestly i couldnt tell you, its the stock auto transmission that came with the car. And thats what im puttin in, is a 2v with stage 2 cams, and im thinkin about puttin a turbo in it.

  • @gdogg409 You're putting a 2V in an 07? The reason the 3V swap was simple was because the body harnesses for the V6 and GT are the same, and plug into the 3v gt ecu. You're going to run into some other obstacles with that.

  • i wish MY parents could hook me up like this guy

  • @metalmaverik Yea man, it's pretty sick. My dad just bought me a built motor because i've been good all summer, then once I graduate he said he will buy me a built 9" and a twins set up.

  • I would imagine it wouldn't be that much different seeing that there is already a modular 4.6 in that platform.

  • Will bolting up a 5.4 to a town car be the same thing?

  • That's sick.. I plan on doing the same. I have a 1998 v6 mustang. (check out my vids) I plan on taking the motor out of my grandpas 2003 f150 triton 5.4 v8 and putting it in my Stang and then painting it. If I get it done on time, then I will be just over 18 yrs old when I finish,!!!

  • How much did all this cost?

  • @MegaMytube99

Not good for swapping motors in...

  • How much did it cost overall?

  • @pfergonise666

It was about a $3000 undertaking for everything. Most expensive part besides the motor was the JPC intake manifold. Call Justin at JPC performance, he is an awesome guy.

  • ....rich kids

  • @kmohnke

    jelly?

  • @kuro243 what?

  • what kind of engine mounts did you use ?

  • @JCL404 Prothane bullet mounts with GT500 engine support brackets. The GT500 brackets bolt right to the block and then allow you to retain the stock mounting position of everything.

  • ive been thinking of doing this with my 4.0 i just dont have the money or know anything about doing a engine swap

  • @super1million11

I really didn't know anything either, you just have to go for it. I am indebted to friends I have at Boost Logic, I ended up blowing this motor about 6 months after this and swapped another 5.4 into the car in my friends driveway with a 300 piece craftsman tool set. You don't need very much to do a motor swap, except confidence in your self and your work.

  • my 09 v6 mustang looks exactly like yours lol wish i had the money to swap my engine though :D

  • daddys money

  • @egarza3818

No, it was actually mommie's money.

  • You can do anything to your car no matter how old you are, you just need one thing: Money

  • @evilperson86u

This is true, I was more proud of myself for saving $3,000 to actually do it.

  • You should of left the v6 body for a while... sleeper! sick though

  • great job bro, I'm doing this as well...hit me up

  • theres no better feeling than hearing a fresh motor start for the first time.

....other than some hard sex possibly.

  • amazing job! car looks and sounds awesome when are you doing your next one lol you gotta start charging now

  • @kuro243 ?

  • This is SO cool. Posted today, and exactly what I'm looking for. I've got a 2005 V6 Mustang, I love the car--- but I'd love some more power. What's a general cost estimate for a full engine swap? I'd love to invest in either a 5.0 or 5.4. I have no real experience with modding cars or working on the mechanics of any vehicle.(Though I'd love to learn. Is an engine swap a bad place to start?)
