Glad you liked the video. Dremeling is awesome - I'm glad I started doing it. I can get the nails so much shorter than I'd ever be able to with the clippers. My dog hates the clippers, but doesn't mind the dremel - I think it must be less stress/pressure on the nail so he doesn't mind it as much.
What a good poochie!! My four doxies would NEVER stand for that... I've tried them all. They run, they hide, carry on like babies... I end up paying vet $60 to do them all. They've never been nipped to bleed. So sorry I didn't start them out when pups. Any suggestions of what else I could try? I can't afford the vet anymore... Thanks, Barb
My only suggestion is to made nail trimming into a fun thing. Create a positive associations with having their feet handled, and then with the nail trimmers themselves. Touch their feet and nails and give treats. Get out the nail trimmers and give treats. Trim one nail, give a treat, and then stop until the next day. Just take it super slow and always end on a good note. It will take time, especially with older dogs who hate having their nails trimmed. Good luck!
He's super cute! You didn't pin his ears.... which you normally see with his breed. I'm sure he appreciated that! I do. Anywway, really cute and well behaved!
Thank you! Actually, his ears are cropped, but he has them laid down in the video. Dogs with cropped ears still have control to either perk them up or lay them down. The ears were done by the breeder before I got him. Even though natural ears are cute, I prefer the cropped look of the Doberman.
I'm not sure since I haven't used any other dremels other than the one I have. But mine was only $25, and I know there are better quality ones on the market that may be better suited for what you want to use it for.
What voltage is that dremel? i just bought one and i guess i got the wrong one because it wont file down my dogs nails at all, not powerful enough. mine is a 4.8volt. can you tell me the correct voltage to get? thanks
I'm not sure what voltage my dremel is.. it says it's 18,000 RPMs though. I got it off the PetEdge website for about $25. Not a top of the line dremel, but it gets the job done!
Yep exactly. I am a licensed vet tech so I'm pretty experienced with nail trimming. It would be a good product for people who are inexperienced or worried about trimming too short.
your dobe is so beautiful ♥ Going to try out the nail dremmel tomorrow ;D

I'm a little afraid to try it but it has to be better than clippers. I know you use them for finishing. Thanks for the video. :-)

Hahaha! I love how he's just laying there "I know what we're doing, can you just hurry up" hehe (:
I just started training today with my dremel. In 5 minutes he went from "Holy shit what is that noise!?!" to oh, okay, can I have my treat now?" :P
Tomorrow: actually touching the dremel to the dog ;)

I'm a groomer and would like to use a dremel to file the sharp edges but it's so loud and would scare most dogs. Is there a less noisy one?
