I hope Donnie is ok. there is a lot that is weighing on his mind...in a heavy way. matter of fact, i can hardly think of a single time that i've seen him when he wasn't getting emotional. I do know this much, him and J.D carry an amazing history onto that stage when they walk out. especially J.D......rip

There are many precious saints and pioneers who have sadly passed on since this video was made, inc George Younce, but they're all singing in the grandest house of all, which is the kingdom of the Lord and what a truely special thing to experience that must be.

There are are still many pioneers and saints that still walk with us and I consider hoover4000 to be one of them because of how much she given us by uploading many songs and memories.

What a tear jerker!!! Donnie Sumner is just a great singer! What feeling he puts into his singing. It's like he's lived these words. No one can touch him on The Lighthouse. He does the best version of that song that I've ever heard. Bar none! Wish someone would post hm singing that song. Thanks for posting this video.

just got home from Bible Study, where we have Bible Study is a old furniture store. Tonight the father, and grandfather hosted Donnie Sumner. It was a pot luck supper, after our Bible Study, we treated to a Hallelujah Hoe Down, cost $0.00, for entertainment, a revival, a Hallelujah Hoe Down, and supper. Not the Ryman, but the 60 people there, we are truly Blessed.

I have heard George sing this song many times, but this is the first time I have heard it with Donnie. The song and performance is awesome. George has been a favorite bass singer of mine for over 40 years. He is sorely missed but Heaven has one more special sole.

You can also tell George has been there too. this song was written by Bill Gaither FOR George Younce. George used to have a drining problem when Bill had written this for his old friend.

George's "drinking problem" began after he enlisted in the Army in 1950. He served one stint in the 82nd Airborne, choosing not to reenlist. George described himself as having "swam" in the booze because of his addiction, but thankfully it lasted only a couple years.

George went to church his first Sunday out of the Army and gave his heart to the Lord again. He never drank again after that.

Sorry, but Bill Gaither wrote that song for Doug Oldham, after Doug got his family back together again. They went back to their old house to get a few things, and his little boy said, "Daddy, I don't like this place; it scares me." Doug told him, "Son, thanks to Jesus, we don't live here any more." Doug, Bill's close friend, told Bill the story, who then wrote the song. I heard Doug tell that story many times in concert.
