If you kill the Dodai under Claw, you automatically win in the Hall of Fire and get 3k experience. They have somewhere around 2.5k health though, so they're hard to kill.
I enjoy that there's giant muscular men standing in lava to support the platforms. And I like the fact that you won't blink at this fact when playing.
I dont get why people don't use nina. If you level her up so she caan use iceblast, shes way more AP efficient than ryu. Not only do her attacks do similar damage for the AP, but she has more of it. She doesn't get hurt and she just keeps blasting away at the dodai with 100 or so while claw only does about 30 or whatever. Also, she usually levels up enough to get typhoon and lightning afterwards.
AI screws up in this one, using Protect on Allies is a good one, and Ryu's Dodai is referred as ally by the game (for the enemy mage xD) - actually even Cure :3. Bad Programming Capcom, but great game still xD
Very smart move in this tournament, I usually just beat these kats before they mess up my dodai. At first it didn't make sense to me, then you received three thousand experience points. Well played!
*StoneMonk uses Frost Strike on Cyril86* It was super effective! *Cyril falls asleep*
It would have rocked to play with two memory slots and two controllers and take your team with whatever color outfit you like and versus another BOF3 player, I strongly believe in RPG's with multiplayer functionality.
Or, choosing monsters in a chosen level area and setting up a team of monsters for muliplay fun. I'd grab a Gooey so long as playing in the major leagues and a Goo Titan, maybe a an Orc!
Here's a funny tip if players have problems with this fight... defeat claw first... then always attack the dodai when it's cawer's turn... he uses heal and rejuvinate on your dodai something O_O... i won this fight easy at doing this stragety i maded... sure many player must also have noticed this... but if ya like to get 3000 exp from the dodai... go ahead!
All you have to do to win, and get the most exp is to attack the dodai.. If you attack the dodai, then the enemy will attack your dodai. If your low lvl, then the enemy will probably out damage you. So before you even enter the fight, you should buy a multivitamin or two, from the item vendor downstairs. And when your dodai drops a little bit into the lava, just use the multivitamin on him, and there ya go full heal, finish off the other dodai and get a whopping 3000 exp :p
i have done this battle so many times but what i find funny is that in the second battle the guy actually heals you every now and then or your dodai if you attack his
9 mins for this? You take too long. I beat the first 2 guys withs Nina (No items, if i did she woulda beat Patrio) and then had Ryu attack Patrio a few times. Level 12 Nina and Level 13 Ryu
are you kidding me? learn blind from the birds early in the game and they wont be able to touch you... hell I spent most of my time STEALING from them (yes you can attain Steal from D'lonzo by having 15 various weapons by that time).
honestly man, this contest is the easiest part of the entire game.
One of my favorite parts of Breath of Fire 3, when Ryu and friends must take part in the Tournament of Champions. The first time I went through this place, I simply attacked the opponent not even thinking about the Dodai with Ryu. I lost the final part when Ryu fell to Patrio and Momo and Nina took the place of him each falling to Patrio. I used up my AP in the earlier rounds so facing Patrio was a problem back then.
I just went through this part not too long ago, I normally go through the normal fights but this time I killed the Dodai. It took a long time but it was well worth it.
An easy way for this fight is to bring some Eye drops, and Copy Blind from the birds earlier in the game, and use it on her, 3/4 of the fight will be her missing and mainyl use your ice dragon attacks on the dodai, fight will take 15-20 minutes, and also for those that try to beat Sunder and the other horse, its impossible i got up to lvl 27 before i went ot next area of game and i actually had both horses run out of mana and i sat there beating them down for 45 mins
better thing to do for this boss fight is to destroy the platform the opponent was on and get 2000 Experience points. If you only use one character, your level will increase by 2 or 3. Definitly worth it.
- Against Patrio, all you get from defeating him, albeit the stolen Claymore, is a Scale Armor, and if you are a good fisher you probably have a Crepe Cape from Manillo, nearby Momo's Tower, which is better. My way was too risky, but got more heap: I got to attack his Dodai for 'round 300 damage after sinking, then Examine Patrio all the way. He got FlameStrike, FrostStrike, and my favorite ThunderStrike. Then, follow what you done, easy 300EXP plus awesome sword techs!
- Agaist Cawer... Steal his Dream Ring, then do what you done. But there's a much easier way to take on Cawer: remove Ryu's armor. All of it. Magic attacks doesn't take the targets' DEF to reduce the damage, and that way you'll get a EX Turn every time. If you made Ryu learn Rest from the Dump, and equip the stolen Dream Ring, you can recover some bits of HP and AP for free during this fight, and the next one.
- Use Claw's strategy on herself: Blind her, then Double Blow your way to victory. (she drops Speed Boots, so I had to reload this battle a lot just to get it. And damn was it worthy!)
o i loved this game, i cna play it 10 times and not get bored of it ^_^ got to ask, yeah what lv was ryu? i did the alternative battle with his Ice Dragon and killed the dodai ^_^
just played this part today, seriously, best game ever.

It's beyond me. Even without magic formation she totally kills everyone else in overall damage output for minimal AP usage.

If you use your ivory dice you found earlier, it doubles it also. Handy for the experience that early in the game.

Did... you actually watch the video?
Because the most EXP you can get from the fight is if you beat the first two fights normally and kill the Dodai in the THIRD round.
Which is what i did.
