The federal regulations for eligibility have diminished RADICALLY. When I started my career, applicants were required to provide proof. Now they are only required to provide statements for nearly everything.
The caseloads have increased in the last 2 years by nearly 400%.
Applicants in general are rude, discourteous, demanding and ingracious.
Thanks to Obama's "stimulus plan" food stamp benefits had the largest increase to benefits in the history of the program. The increase was over 13%. That means a household of 1 person with zero income went from $176.00 monthly award of food stamps to $200.00 monthly.
Legislators are making the regulations easier so more and more people may qualify. WTF?
Did you know that households with a working non-citizen (either illegal or temporary resident) are better off that households with all U S citizens or legal permanent residents?
Example: All US citizens household. Mom, Dad (both illegal) and 1 child. Dad works and makes $1200.00 monthly. His $ is prorated 1200/4X2 (elig kids) = $600.
After rent/utilities deducted they get $378.00 in food stamps.
4 elig HH members: Same income but it is not prorated and therefore their allotment is less because there is more income counted.

Example: All US citizens household. Mom, Dad (both illegal) and 1 child. Dad works and makes $1200.00 monthly. His $ is prorated 1200/4X2 (elig kids) = $600.
After rent/utilities deducted they get $378.00 in food stamps.

Welfare is needed but it shouldn't be for life in most cases. If someone is elderly and TRULY has no way of making more $ than we should help them but not the young and healthy that are just plain lazy.

I hate welfare more than anything! My family was poor as hell and still my mom and dad could feed all four of us. Welfare is more like a cruch than help. why not teach the people how much potentiale lies within them.

now, for food stamps, you have to be a complete bum to get those too. I think people would chose some food stamps to feed their children instead of a crap job that doesnt feed their children. The problem is with the state, these programs do need to be reformed to help people who actually try but don't have enough to make ends meet. But, they don't, and that is what is wrong with america, they run to help people who are bombing us, but not the people here willing to try to be a better american

They actually do have medicaid for the specific purpose of birth control. Anyone who qualifies can get this. Problem is, for medicaid because you cant afford health insurance, you have to be a complete bum, or they won't help you. Unfortunately the last option is pregnancy medicaid. In this case they know they will have a baby paid for, so whore moms unite.

My husband and I work our tails off just to scrape by, and have literally had to go through our coat pockets for change to buy food, because supposedly we make too much to get any help. and since we can't get (or afford) health insurance, we've had to pay all our medical expenses out of pocket.
Meanwhile, my "WHORE" neighbor has 3 kids (all by different guys, of course), and is living with another guy now. She never works, of course. And her current boyfriend works very very part time, sometimes, but from what I can tell, it's just to get his drug money and buy video games. She keeps popping out kids she can't afford...

And the government keeps giving her free health insurance and handing everything to her on a silver platter. Oh, and the thing that really makes me livid is that since she used to be a heroin addict, she gets free methadone handouts for every day, so the poor little thing doesn't have to go through withdrawals. This is what our taxes are paying for!!! But can my husband and I get the medications we need when we are legitimately sick? NO WAY!
