People are soooo judgemental. Do we know Roman, Debra, Terry melcher? Were we there? no!! Quit blaming people or asking if they get paid for interviews, etc. Its silly. It was a tragic event and only the manson family ultimatley did the deed. Look into there heads if you want to blame anyone.
@Redbirdgirl88 That theory makes more sense, sorry. Even Bobby said it was about him. However even though Tex Watson said they were to free Bobby, Tex also said (in his book) the murders were for money.
@Desiree50 Charles Watson is the one who murdered ALL of these people. But people like you forget about him. Ever read his book? Ever read how he almost brags (and takes credit for) the murders? How he said the slayings were for MONEY and how he takes credit for killing Tate when Krenwinkel screamed to him "KILL HER!" and how he takes credit for tying up the LaBiancas himself. Tex knew that house, he knew it front to back. He picked it. The better question is why is Watson still alive.
@cuntrytrash OK so Watson murdered all those people.Do you want me to feel sorry for that piece of shit Manson? He is the one who brainwashed all those young people. He told them what to do.He manipulated them.He was a ex con who knew how to read in to people well.He has blood on his hands just like the other ones.I guess Watson knew the house well because whenDennis Wilson lived there he and Manson and the others lived there for a while.Your right why is Tex still alive?Did u read the book? .Des
@Desiree50 I find it hilarious that people actually believed these people were brainwashed. First off noexpert was willing to testify to that in court. That was just an opinion by the DA. Manson may have influenced them, he may have wanted certain things, but these people killed because they wanted to kill. Tex is a psychopath. He was deemed "a dangerous ticking timebomb" by psychiatrists prior to his trial. He was a meth head and meth causes delusions and homicidal tendencies.
@cuntrytrash i do agree that they obviously had something within them that would take them to that point of actually holding up the knife and bringing it down, and i beleive they knew what they were doing, yet, there is no doubt in my mind that Charlie had a major influence.
@cuntrytrash i have been in a situation concerning influence, milder of course.i was already somewhat broken, then met this guy who had this exciting new way, i thought i loved him, and in turn i started to do things that i never would have done without him(ended up in jail). I had the urge to rebel but wouldn't have done such things without him. i feared him in a way and i think they did too. i admit drugs played a role..can you imagine charlie's "power's" (lol)+lost girls+drugs plus the 60's?
@cuntrytras. after his time with Manson and Meth ...Yes! Ticking...Major influence. i went through that 'phase' like i mentioned in another message, i had done it one my own and was paranoid, but when i did it with this BF who was a negative person, it was like X 10. Voices , freaky stuff happened., he was aggresive and scared me.I do beleive if you are 'low' arleady, drugs can open up something .. evil.Glad to say thats way in the past, but i have no doubt.Add M's manipulation.Whoa.
@Redbirdgirl88 True, but how much did M really manipulate Tex? Tex formed his own clique which sold meth and did a lot of nasty things-- ripping off people left and right. Look at what Tex caused with the Crowe situation. His girlfriend was held hostage over his burned drug deal. Tex was using Kasabian, Van Houten and anyone else HE could manipulate. Tex wanted to be a gangster, he wanted to be like M. His problem was ENVY of M and wanting to emulate M. Tex's control was due to ENVY.
@cuntrytrash i agree that Tex had his own demons anyways... without manson involved...true enough. But you also stated that he wanted to be like Manson, wanted to emulate him,etc.. and manson had his own, very powerful manipulative ways, which wouldn't have improved Tex's already criminal ways.
@Redbirdgirl88 What do you think about Tex Watson being identified in a murder from 1968? This was when he left the Ranch one of the many times. Definitely not under Manson's spell. If it is true that he murdered the man in Olancha in 1968, it shows that Watson is a psycho. Not to mention what Watson said in the 1978 Detective magazine about "forcing Van Houten to stab Rosemary's dead body" and "stabbing Frykowski so hard his hand went inside of him" and calling Tate "the pathetic Blond".
@Redbirdgirl88 Watson is a lunatic. Always was, before Manson and still now after Manson. Watson's prison job is mopping up blood after stabbings/fights as part of the hazmat team. Nice job tex! Besides that, Bruce Davis may have killed someone in 1966 if Howard Davis' theory is correct. Manson was still in prison. Watson's first LAPD interview he even said Manson never told him to kill anyone and didn't remember being asked "do you feel remorse" Was he lying THEN or NOW? Each way, he is a liar.
@cuntrytrash I do agree, that watson was not just a product of Manson, he had his own demons for sure, which i think almost all of the family did. But it was obvious that he was the ' leader' of these already broken soles. It was their ultimate choice however. As far as Watson's job in prison, though, that has nothing to do with anything. I have a nursing background and am interested in becoming a pathologist assistant. or a cororner. It has to be done and just doesn't bother some people.
@Desiree50 The killers FLED after the deed. If they were brainwashed they would have stuck with Manson. But, they left because they knew what they did and they knew it was criminal. Most of the people LEFT Manson when they fled to Barker. Again, something not characteristic of someone brainwashed. Those people did what they did because they envied, feared, emulated, respected and LOVED him. Those things are more dangerous than a program or brainwash. They just push it on Manson 100% for parole.
Dantelacie21 My point is if Terry would have kept his word this may not have happened and he took that to the grave. Terry was just another person who had power to lead others on, and its a proven fact that he did so in this case. so the blame lies with him.
@Ruckasman If every person who had been promised a contract that was never acutally done took revenge by committing multiple homicides, there would be no one left alive in So CA, that is a ridiculous comment.
The Blame is on Terry Melcher and he died knowing if he would have kept his word the killers would have never picked that house. He was a scared little chicken shit that didn't even want take the stand in the trial. Think of all the trouble he could have prevented if he had just let Charlie record a few songs. People would have bought the music. The victims would most likely still be with us, and the far out 60's would have ended with a lot of groovy memories.
@Ruckasman, The tate murders were committed in Terry Melcher's former home. Manson new Terry no longer lived there but he didn't care and as an act of revenge ordered everyone in the house slaughtered. When Terry refused to let Manson record a few songs he had no idea that his decision would ultimately lead to the murders of 5 innocent people. Terry Melcher was not to blame.
Despite the person he was or is, he is not responsible for her death that was my point. I was not commenting on his crimes but those of the Manson Family. So lose the attitude!
Roman Polanski may not be a "model" husband, but he loved Sharon very much and her death completely devastated him. You people who blame him are just sick attention seekers. That man lost a wife and a child! Grow up!
@belladonna1482 Grow up yourself. Polanski had sex with upteen different women while he was married to her. Why wasn't he there with his heavily pregnant wife if he loved her so much? The creepy little pedophile also told her that her pregnant body was unattractive to him. That btw is typical of pedophiles. They don't like to see a woman pregnant because they can't imagine them as little girls anymore.
@coastalstray umm. i think your diving into someones life that you don't even know. Do you really know that he didn't love Sharon? Do I? NO.. What he did was wrong, yes. I am not taking anything away from that, but who are you to judge a person. He'll get his and learn his. Everybody has a story and you don't know what is in a person's soul. I dont think it was about celebrity, I think it was because young women were involved, the lifestyle they lived plus the fact that every few years were treated to another parole hearing in which the media insist on retelling the whole sorry saga. There have been far more brutal murders nobody knows about.
Serial killers who keep their victims tied up, burn and blow torch them. Torture them for hours, starve them, disect them etc.

Well I don't believe that.
I also don't believe the Helter Skelter theory.
