  • the audio left the video behind for like .5s.. delayed

  • is he blind?

  • my neck hurts after watching this

  • This video needs to be pulled and the camera operator put in prison for 10 years.

  • doesn´t needs more cowbell¡¡¡¡

  • IL DOIT AVOIR LA TETE A L'ENVERS CELUI QUI A FILME A MOINS QU'IL SOIT EXTRA TERRESTRE! didier d'agostino drummer on youtube!

  • i just took the monitor and put it on the side. FTW!!!!

  • Who cares if the video is sideways. LISTEN. It is MUSIC, LISTEN. And SHUT UP

  • Thumbs up if you watched this vid with your head tilted sideways! :)) Amazing drummer btw.

  • esta re dado vuelta negro !!(y)

  • my neck hurts...but awesome solo

  • look marcelinho mizere drum solo brazil

  • I dunno why everyone thinks you have to be a weckl or colaiuta or gadd or dennis chambers, etc, i mean they are drummer's drummers the real deal, but after you get the rudiments and STUDY alot, you just have to find your style, this was hell of a solo and a great drummer, those buzz rolls are hard to get right, A+

    Peace

  • did you have to sneak the camera in threw an old t-shirt? fuckin sideways

  • para toda la familia!! 5 stars!

  • YOUR DAD??! ! ! So lucky

  • mind boggling

  • I want groove....

  • okay now you are starting to see someone that can handle sticks.......still simple shit...tricks are for kids...nothing new here...but better than most.......now that you can use the sticks...what do have in the mind?....if there is nothing there,,you will be the same drummer in ten years from now....

now people,,,don't get all bent out of shape and start telling me who the f do you think you are.....I'm just stating my opinion......you are intitled to yours also.

  • You should post a video of yourself that shows how much "better" you are. Comments are cheap, man.

  • c'mon man. this is a real solo. im not gonna get "bent out of shape," but show a little class. a true musician would realize this...

  • what do you even mean by class? what does it have to do with his drumming. is it his face? LOL

  • HE'll develop new stuff as the days go by. everyday you practice you develop new stuff you never noticed.. your opinion that he'll be the same drummer in ten years time is honestly stupid. at this standard, its good. in 10 years time it'll be very good..

  • Excelent drummer !! please give us an e-mail or webpage where to contact this great drummer

  • He can PLAY!

  • sooooo cool!!!

  • damn, your dad has major control and time. awesome video.

  • hey look everyone the camera is sideways

  • whoever got the idea of holding the camera sideways is a deuch

  • @spacetoast99 they clap when he gets the camera right haha

  • Very good! Great to watch and listen.

  • Great drumming. I love the use of brushes; not many people use them anymore. Give my compliments to your dad.

  • impressive!

  • IDIOT! ROTATE THE CAMERA.

  • man my neck just hurt watching that.

  • Holding the camera sideways is very moronic. Its because when they hold it up sideways it still looks right side up when they're taping it so they think it will be right side up when they upload it to their computer. That alone could kill a great performance.

  • ive got a sore neck now :(

  • moronic way of holding a camera - at least rotate the footage in editing!

  • Great blend of old and new school! Your dad's name sounds familiar. Who did he work with?

  • oppssss my head...upside down..

    hahaha

  • why is the recording thing held upside down?

  • Yo ur dad has swagg and he's also a great drummer.

  • He's known as "the thinking man's drummer". All people love to see him perform, but those of extensive percussion education adore him.

  • Your dad is great man

  • very impressive.

  • great vid but do to the gate it sounds slightly delayed

  • your dad haves talent

  • thanks for the vid, cool solo, very stupid angle to tape it though

  • my neck hurts

  • sweet solo man

  • i love horizontal look xD

  • rotate video would be nice

  • @3:22+ was awesome. =]

    great vid.

  • PERFECT....

  • y is the camera sideways?

  • your dad kick ass :)

  • r u stupid y is the camera sideways

  • i dont wanna see ppl bitchin about it not being jazz or watev lol it doesnt matter this guy is a hardass he could kick ur ass via drums ok dont talk shit he owns very clean overall badass nice job i give u a virtual high five :D

  • wtf? this sucks, wait.....*turns monitor on side*

    ...this is awesome! :-D

    lol seriously though, cool stuff.

  • buddy rich man!!

  • camera right way round?:Ox

  • super. excercices plutot ke solo. mais super.

  • this is THE jazz drumming.

  • God chops but where is the groove?. zzz

  • did the audience stand on the wall???

btw ur dad is amazin 5*

  • Steadfasting, that's such bullshit. Go listen to some real jazz, because I'm sure whatever you heard that inspired you to write that was not real jazz.

This isn't much of a "jazz" solo anyways, so I hope you're not basing any conclusions off of this.

  • Let me correct myself.

Most Jazz drumming is sloppy, and really lacks a good beat. It's a very sporadic noise drumming. Kinda like a retard having a seizure on top of a drum set.

  • That's pretty obnoxious. I'll repeat myself too:

Obviously you haven't ever listened to any decent jazz in your entire life, because that statement simply isn't true.

  • im going to to have to agree with cheezey know the genre of music before you go bashing it

  • It seems that none of you guys know a great solo when you see one. And this is a jazz solo. It appears to be base in improvisation. What do you guys think that jazz is? His skills are incredible, his moment is smooth and he doesn't even break a sweat. The man is cool and exceptional.

  • I think people are confusing what they call "jazz drumming" with GOOD jazz drumming. A GOOD jazz drummer won't lose tempo. However during a solo tempo doesn't matter as much.

  • I'd like to see YOU get up there and try to do something as cool as that.

  • Dude, your dad is fantastic

  • The most amazing thing is that the man only drums as a hobby. He's the Publisher of a St. Louis Newspaper. A phenom.

  • Holy fucking hell, I'm impressed. Real damn pro *5/5*.

  • my neck hurts.....

  • zzzzzzzzz

  • Very nice. Your dad is a great drummer.

  • wot is the camera man doing lol

  • i`m lucky ..i still can turn my head

  • Right on. I digg it

  • sweet solo man

  • your dads the fucking boss

  • fuckin good

  • camera man retarded?

  • Amazing brush work!, tastefull fills, one of the most musical solos around!, keep on Rocking"!!!

  • And you are certainly entitled to it. I'm sure that there are some ideas that you can take away from the performance whether you like jazz or not. If not, to each his own. I do my thang and you do yours.

    Peace

    5%r

  • So the next time, keep in mind that you don't like jazz and keep your comments on it to yourself. This guy is fantastic.

  • First of all i never didnt say that this guy sucks? Read my post correctly-.- And second its my opinion and tehere is nothign that says that i cant say my opinion, if u dont like then dont read it! peace

  • That makes no sense. How's he gonna know he won't like it till he reads it?

  • @megaparkour not boring. ignorant

  • ma fanculo gira sta telecamera!!

  • The thing that makes him even more incredible is that he is a accomplished orchestral and rudimental percussionist. Funny thing is he makes a living as a publisher. He really needs to quit his day job.

  • Notice the women in the background talking... how can you not? If you're one of those who think you're words are more important than the performance, please take it to the lobby.

  • This video is sooo amazing. i luv 2 c ppl who can actually play instead of just talk.

  • oh wow cool !!my monitor turns sideways and vista will acommadate.bety bety bety interesting

  • must it be sideways? but its really cool! :)

  • wow that was incredible.

im hopin to become a jazz drummer

  • I've watched countless drum solos on youtube and I am impressed with this one over and over again. It's so creative, and the guy never resorts to just a bunch of grooves and junk like every other drummer seems to do. He also makes it all look and sound smooth and improvised. So many drummers play solos in ways that look and sound contrived.

Post more solos if you've got them. I'd like to see more of what this guy does.

  • The very first day that I met this man he made the statement "I'll be the best teacher that you'll ever have, whether it be high school or college". Never thought I'd live to say this, but HE'S RIGHT! The man is a genius when it comes to teaching. More importantly he teaches in a way that he makes you do it, without doing it for you. In me and my peers case he taught us how to stop thinking and acting as boys and be respected as men in all walks of life. R'View 97

  • that is so smooth

  • o shit it's mcnabb

  • Thank you. Jazz drum soloing is actually my favorite art. I enjoy paying tribute to greats like Chic Webb, Max Roach, Buddy Rich, Philly Joe Jones, Sonny Paine, etc., in all of my solos, obviously. Preserving the jazz drum solo art form is a mission of mine of sorts. Its my paying respects to some giants who inspired me as a young drummer. Compositional jazz drum soloists are few and far between, but I try to keep the torch burning for my inspirations.

  • Ok so he's practiced a few few tricks that impress a crowd, but can he groove???

  • "a few few tricks"? You obviously don't play. The whole solo is a groove, novice.

  • Best drummer in the world in my eyes Daddy!!!

  • great drummer.. but for god's sake hold the camera still!!

  • 10 stars!!! There is nobody smoother. You should see him shirtless. Hubba, hubba, hubba.

  • This guy has amazing technical skill. He's the only drummer that I've ever watched that really made me think that they're even close to Buddy Rich.

  • That was brillient, he does alot of the stuff I do when I drum jazz

  • That man is the best Jazz Drum soloist performing today.

  • dave weckl?

  • jeff hamilton?

  • Very nice. Looks like some buddy rich influence.

  • ohhh man!!!!!!!!!!!! he is not a jazzdrummer - where the hell do hear jazz in that modern well maybe fusion, or anything else where do you hear jazz????????????????????? because of the brushes on the beginning``?????? ooh man

  • Awesome!!

  • turn the damn camera right side up.

  • wow... a gifted artist. SS

  • what? no blindfold?

  • You must have a hot moma.

  • GIFTED

  • Wow! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He could use some lessons from my son TR jr. :)

  • I would assume that you are speaking of Mr. Tony Royster, Jr. Tony Royster is a "groove king" he isn't a "drum soloist". "Your son" could probably take some lessons from this guy on the art of building a musical and creative drum solo.

  • cool, 5 star video.
