  • Heh, fun video. TraNoWriMo sounds awesome. But yeah, different strokes for different folks, bro. Where some writers do better if they take their time, other writers need a kick in the ass to get anything done. For me, first drafts are painful and NaNoWriMo gives me the momentum I need.

  • wauw, je vertaald Thea Beckman? wat geweldig! good luck :)!

  • Even the best authors don't write a book at that rate, it's slightly ridiculous, you should take your time writing a novel.

  • Zo awesome dat je dat boek aan het vertalen was of .. bent! :) super tof!

  • I did NaNoWriMo this year... and completed it... but the novel sucked so bad I kinda wish I hadn't bothered :P :)

  • number 11 - it's too much like work! :)

  • i hate your number 6 - i dont understand it when people say ''ooh i used to like something untill it became mainstream now i dont like it'' I DONT GET IT

  • @xHawkzx Aaaand that's why it was a joke.

  • @booksandquills Aaaand that's why you're a hipster.

  • I agree with all of these reasons. Translating is awesome! Great skill to have =)

  • I am exceptionally excited for TraNoWriMo. I don't even know WHAT this book is about, but I know I want to read it.

And, you know, I can't read Dutch... so... BE SWIFT, YOUNG SANNE!

  • Final months of uni = reason for not doing NaNoWriMo this year.... And I failed miserably last year - nothing I search to relive! ;)

  • I'm not doing NaNoWriMo because I'm currently on exchange in Germany. Trying to learn German, learn about the culture, see things and participate in everything would make doing NaNoWriMo incredibly hard.

  • I decided to write a bit every day this month, but I'm not really trying to reach 50,000 words.

  • you read my mind thats why i am not doing it either -_-

  • After watching your video, I told myself that I wasn't doing it this year after my epic fail of 2010. But now Im doing it because it gives me an excuse to write like a crazy person and gloat to my friends that I wrote a novel (or at least part of it) in 30 days! Hopefully I can finish it! Good luck to everyone else participating! :) x

  • I do NaNoWriMo because I love to write. It gives me a legitimate reason to sit down and put pen to paper (fingers to keyboard actually). :)

  • I love Kinderen van Moeder Aarde! But I should finish the books I'm currently reading before wallowing in that sweet nostalgia (read the trilogy a looong time ago).

  • Not doing NaNoWriMo .

    I'm doing TraNoNiMo!

I will try to translate a manual of engineering (50 pages) for my class " Translation of Technical Texts".

    :D :(

  • @JustCallMeMrsDarcy Awesome! :D Although the subject of the text doesn't sound very interesting :p

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the first time this year, and I'm determined to finish!!!

  • @Fireworkbug Good luck!

  • I'm not doing NaNoWriMo because it's my last two months of college and I kind of have 3 research papers to write instead.... >_>

  • TraNoWriMo? I think I'm gonna join! Not so much of a writer myself, but this would be perfect for me :D

now the problem is what to translate...

  • @gabbers2532 Do it!

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the first time. Yet, I have no idea what my story will be, so yeahhh...

  • I said I'd do NaNoWriMo but the more I think about it, the more I figure it's not going to work. Also, it's such a shame that Kinderen van Moeder Aarde has never been translated, one of my all time favourite book(series), though I think I like the third book (Het Gulden Vlies van Thule) best.

  • Thanks for the motivational speach Sanne ;-) Now I feel WAY better about doing NaNoTumblrWriMo

  • @Samsam1034 Nooo problem. Always here to help.

  • The reason I won't be participating? I am a reader, NOT a writer. If I try, I will fail in the most epic mannner.

  • wooow good! Eindelijk iemand die begrijpt dat de genialiteit van dat boek overgedragen moet worden :D

  • ... I was going to do NaNoWriMo, but TraNoWriMo sounds WAY more appealing. Is this an official thing or something you came up with?

  • @totoroovertherainbow I just made it up, but it would be awesome if you want to join in :P

  • Within the first 3 seconds I KNEW you had a new camera :D Yaaaay! Also, yeah, guess some of us (including me) have no time for nanowrimo XD

  • "I don't do deadlines."

    Yup.

  • yayy for ppl who draw characters from their stories!!! :D

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo because I like being challenged. I have won 2 out of three years and I'm excited for year 4.

  • @desertislanddream Would you be interested in doing a collab channel with us? We need a girl for thursday!

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo, even though I don't have a heap of spare time. It'll force me into finishing my novel, which is a good thing, otherwise I'll spend hours procrastinating.

  • I like your reason.

  • Wait?! You're in London - GATHERING!

  • @WelllWhatCanISay I'm already back home. I went to a gathering in Southampton though.

  • @booksandquills Aaah poo. I always miss the party :( Never mind, i'm glad you got home safely and i hope you had a smashing time in the UK :D

  • I am wanting to do NaNoWriMo because of the two times that I have seriously attempted, I failed miserably with a whopping word count of about 5000 each time.

I just want to do it just to say that I did it. :-P

  • I'm not doing NaNoWriMo because I'm too lazy :P

  • I love that book as wel! Love the whole series actually. It's been a while since I read them though :(

  • New camera??

  • @nicciweasley Yes :)

  • Good idea!!

  • I started NaNoWriMo but I stopped because I was too focused on the word count... Doei! en veel succes met vertalen!

  • @ferrentes Thanks! :D

  • no nanowrimo for me, i spend enough time writing stories, no need to cram it all in one month.

  • I will be doing NaNoWriMo this year. I did it last year and got 35,000 words which is more than I was expecting and this year I'm only aiming for 20,000 due to other important things I have to do, like sleeping. The main reason i do it is because it forces me to write and make time for writing which I don't ever do during the rest of the year.

    Good luck with your translating!

  • @uponastratocumulus Sleep is for the weak. Good luck :D

  • Reason for NaNoWriMo - I love to write!

Reason against - I just don't think I'll have the time

But why I still might - I'll get more done on the novel I want to write if I do NaNoWriMo then if I don't ...

  • TranNoWriMo is such a good idea! I may use it in the future to get better at German ^_^.

  • My favourite word ever is DYSTOPIAN. Thank you for saying it. Especially for me... -B

  • @MoreMoreOrange I'll make sure to say it as often as I can :p

  • I loved my translation course so hopefully you'll have the same degree of fun with your own challenge :) I do NaNoWriMo because it's one of the few times when living 6500 miles away from my best friend doesn't become a factor in how we communicate with each other.

  • I did NaNo last year, and doing it again this year.

  • Finally someone else that agrees with me!

  • a lot of the reasons you listed are accurate for me... however, I am a creative writing major but I fail at writing long stories. And I need deadlines to write. So, I will be doing it again this year, and hopefully I'll finish.

  • I LOVE YOUR SHIRT!!!!

    ...I can has?

    ;)

  • @candiegirll Nope. It isn't even mine :) Stole it from Marion while she was in class.

  • I'm attempting NaNo again this year. x_x

Oi! Get on those books! I'm 42/52 right now, but I was soooo behind a few months ago. You can catch up!

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo because I'm obviously a glutton for punishment and haven't learned yet that I will never get past 40,000 words...

  • I'm not doing NaNoWriMo because I'm not good at writing plots/storylines.

  • Your lighting and picture have improved so much! But your sound...

I'm sorry but I'm a sound guy (professionally) so I nag. There are some cheap but decent (better) sounding mics you can plug directly into most cameras. Worth every penny, and will complement your new look very well. And good luck on the translating!

  • @EricB12345678 Thanks! I just bought this camera and it's the first time I'm using something like this. I'll definitely invest in a mic soon. Any suggestions?

  • I'll comment on this video on your facebook, because I can't post links on comments here.

  • @EricB12345678 Thanks! I'll definitely take a look at them!

  • what are you majoring in at college?

  • @NightTimeOperator I'm doing an MA in Translation and (English) Literature.

  • It's my first year doing NaNo and I am SUPER EXCITED. I've never really done much creative writing myself, and I'm not very good at starting things without some incentive, so I'm hoping the deadline will make me actually do things. I am also super nervous because I'm crazypants busy in November, and of course: TUMBLR.

  • omg that is like my favorite book evah!!! If you translate it, I wanna read it :)

Also, I am not doing NaNoWriMo, because I already know I won't finish. I am extremely busy, finishing last year accounting stuff from my student association, doing all of the schoolwork, and some extra stuff that takes too long to explain :p

I don't think I 'm a great writer, and I don't enjoy it too much, so it would seem like a chore. Also tumblr. of course.

p.s. do you have a new camera? Because I like it <3

  • I will not be doing NaNoWrimo. I'm not doing this because of reasons! Mostly because of Tumblr. And also my course load is way too time consuming. As is Tumblr. Tumblr.

  • Technically I am not doing NaNoWriMo, but I have set a goal to finish my second novel by the end of the month so that I can get it published early next year.

  • I'm not gonna lie, this video made me slightly rethink doing nanowrimo....but I will not give up! I will persevere! (And yes, I will probably spend A LOT on chocolate. But some risks just must be taken.)

  • great vid!

twas nice to see you and Khyan last weekend btw :) x

  • Sad your not doing NaNoWriMo. This will be my first year. Tell us more about this translating thing, is it like NaNoWriMo? Or just something you are doing on your own? And tell us more about you going away.

  • @plot2themoon I just came up with this idea on my own. :D I'll be doing a rough translation of the first hundred pages of the book. I'm going into literary translation this semester, so it will be quite useful!

I'm traveling a lot this semester. I'm currently in London visiting Marionhoney, Tyrannosauruslexxx and Khyan1. In November I'll be traveling to Edinburgh and Paris with Marion :)

    Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

  • "I don't do deadlines"

    ... 50 books challenge...

  • @Silverballoons I know :D. At least that one's FAR away. At least... it used to be.

  • @booksandquills OoooOooo! Reply from booksandquills! I feel special right now :D

  • I am doing NaNoWriMo...

I am going to write 100k. Yup...

I'm crazy, but I'm sure you knew that.

And I do NaNo because it's kind of become an addiction, I can't think about NOT doing it.

  • Aaargh! Your camera is fabulous! WANT!

I haven't decided whether I'm going to do nanowrimo this year. I really shouldn't for I don't have time/feel completely blocked when I have to write stuff/ failed the previous three years.. but I may try participating anyway. we'll see.

  • THIS VIDEO IS IN SUCH A HIGH QUALITY - MY BRAIN CANT TAKE IT!

  • I am not participating in NaNoWriMo this year because I would rather spend that time working on my thesis. Since that's kind of a big deal. I will finish last year's story (which contained over 50000 words, of course) next year. Or when I decide that I have loads of spare time in semester number 2 to do some NaNoWriMo instead of Script Frenzy.

    Anyway, not November.

Have fun with travelling to ALL the countries!

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo, but I like to think I'm pretty well equipped to do so. I mean, I have a plan, and characters and settings - I just need to, sort of, pad everything into a novel...

  • I UNDERSTOOD THE DUTCH IN ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS!!! *ambition fulfilled*

  • I'm doing NaNoWriMo because I just graduated from college and I miss homework. Also I'm a Ravenclaw, obv.

  • If it's National somezing somezing day, why is it clearly an international event?

I think not doing nanowrimo is now the cool non-mainstream thing. Also, love the new camera. You look gooood with back drop blur.

    Woop

  • I'm totally doing it. I mean, I only work full time and am doing a degree in my free time already. Plenty of time to write a novel as well.

    ....*sweat drop*

  • those are some excellent reasons not to do NaNoWriMo. But just one thing: You travel without a laptop? OMG !

  • I have way too much Russian homework to even CONSIDER writing a novel. I have a lot of respect for those who are actually going through with it though, perhaps another year.

  • This will be my second year doing NanNoWriMo and hopefully my second year winning as well. Good luck with your translating though :)

  • I have quite a few reasons why I shouldn't do NaNoWriMo this year, one being that I have 3 more jobs than I had last year when I did it, and therefore hardly any time. But one reason to do it: I've been looking forward to giving it another go for a whole year, after I won last year, and I've had the title and a little bit of the plot planned for ages, so I'm just going to go for it I think, and see what happens!

  • Nanowrimo, yeah, never once did it.. Started once, but writing just isn't for me. I have enormous respect for people who can write because I am soooo bad at it. If there's a drawing equivalent of nanowrimo, I'd love to do that. I might do a one-drawing-a-day-in-november thing... which would be odadin I guess... or OnDraDaIN.

  • Not doing it. I am also terrible with deadlines, and school is already up too much of my reading time. I hope Tranowrimo goes well. Good luck with your book challenge! I will be attempting the 50 book challenge next year, but I'll probably fail because I haven't even gotten to 20 this year. :/

  • accck now this is making me scared to do NaNoWriMo!!!

  • @MegaKooala Hahah If you want to, you should totally do it!

  • I am doing NaNoWriMo because I always come up with all these ideas for novels, write 1,000 words or so of a novel, and then stop. I want to change that. So, forcing myself to write a novel in one month and giving myself a deadline will hopefully help that.

  • Not going to do it because i have a life. I have a job, college and books i want to read. Besides, when i try to force my creativity, its really really bad.

  • YES TO TRANOWRIMO.

    Victory is MINE.

  • @Lidespam Finnnne.

  • FIRST

  • I'm doing it this year like every year. No matter how much work i have to do in November I still can not say no to NaNowriMo

  • also see you tomorrow lolololol

  • @tyrannosauruslexxx YESSSSSS.

  • I'm not NaNoWriMo-ing either, it makes me feel bad about myself. was this shot on the 60D?

  • haha...number 7 xD

  • Good luck with your translation project, it sounds challenging and fun. =)

I will be doing Nanowrimo this year, but I'm mostly using it as stress-relief. I would like to someday be a published author, so I'm always writing, and this is a way to practice without it having to count so much. A whole month to just let go and write whatever comes to mind without it having to make sense is very relaxing for me.

  • I'll be doing national profielwerkstuk writing month!

  • @mariannerrrd NaProWriMo? #likeit

  • @Lidespam YES. :)

  • I am going to do it, but if I don't meet the deadline I'm not going to beat myself up about it. If I don't finish it in November, I am DEFINITELY going to finish it in December.

  • so houw van kruistocht in spijkerbroek

  • omg loved kinderen van moeder aarde/surinamer hier/brasa

  • I think I will need that luck. This is the first year I've done it, I'm aiming for 30,000 words since 50k seems kind of impossible, but I don't know if I can make it to that either XD

  • What's up with the video transcript translations ?

  • @vicofour I'm still putting together a list of all the people :D I'll get back to you!

  • Haha, I totally do that - draw my characters, thinking this is going to be sooooo cool...then never write it...lol Was great to see you in London again!

  • @DirectorToby Hahah, yeah it's a problem! So much fun hanging out with you :)

  • Good luck! Very awesome :D Not doing NaNoWriMo, very very busy with school stuff, behind on my 50 books challenge (videos included) and I never finish writing a story. Ever. (not on purpose btw)

  • have you read the two sequels as well? I love them, they're lying on the shelve above my head now =D just finished reading all three of them in about 2 weeks time =D and yes, I am 20 but I still love those books =D I'm just that cool hahaha lol xD

  • @HellemonderWesje Yes! I didn't like them as much as the first one though. Haven't read any of the three books in a couple of years.

  • @booksandquills you should read them again =D they're really good =D

  • "Way too mainstream."

Nope. I have no writing skill, no passion for the craft and no time.

  • i don't like to write... period! lol

  • NaNoWriMo makes me all depressed when I don't get to my goal! We need a song for Anti-NaNoWriMo xD!

Oh, I'm trying to grow a finger moustache for next month too! ;)
