  • The old days were the days of true romance in radio. Today it's just a hand full of SM chips on a board and some cable with automated voices. Blaugh! Boring!

  • "THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS MARITIME RADIO STATION..."

What kind of emotional shit is this? Don't forget that Brittania hasn't ruled nothing for ages.

  • Wow, old timey nerds. Cool! Heist them pants up higher!!!!

  • Came across this video while looking for something else (that;s the internet for you)!

Brilliant. I worked GKB almost on a daily basis while on Niarchos tankers (1973 - 1986). Could QSO from half-way round the world. Excellent station, first class R/Os.

My last ship was the World Recovery/5MRH.

  • Bob Clay sea going sparks 1970-86.

  • Great job!

I stumbled across this video and really enjoyed it.

  • I worked this station from all over the world between 1970 and 1986. A massive operation. The final shots of the demolition are very sad.

    Nicely done.

  • Nice presentation. Worked GKA many times from 91-96 before the big change.

  • Great pictures and music. Quite a few changes since 1948 when I served there before escaping to GLV - FK +

  • Great video clip. Had many happy memories of GK...portisheadradio, whilst in P and O, GBDK, GRFP GVSN etc...20 years communicating with portishead, and a great shame to see it go. Regards Gordon McKie

  • The Portishead Radio Station was well known all over the world - sad days for many Posset people when it closed and great to see photos although I was just a young girl at the time. Can anyone remember Brian Goddard who spent a lot of time up at the site and was a real radio ham. His wife would be interested if anyone remembers him. He was a dear friend of my late uncle, Brian Stonestreet.
