@petrosMgr Mew was added to the game as a secret. It could only be obtained from Nintendos promotional campaigns and the infamous glitch with that one trainer. They never meant it to be possible to catch all 151 pokemons if you didn't get mew from the special event.

Add Missingno and your total could be up to 152 in the first generation, it had no pokedex entry but added to the number owned.

I believed all sorts of BS from other kids about this game - after I had played all the way through once without HM Cut and tried futilely to move the truck, another kid let me know that it only worked if you beat the whole game, AND had caught 150 Pokrmon within just 20 hours of gameplay. So I did... Fuckin' a, I really wanted that Mew.

Well I played pokemon Red like crazy, probably beat it 10 times. Now I'm 19 I actually still enjoy playing it I think, lol. But I always thought mewtwo was way too weak.. I never used him in my lineup of pokemon, even though it's almost at the end you can catch him.. Do you mean psychic is overpowered btw? I remember catching an Abra(?) very early in the game, leveling it to Kadabra, and using that to kill almost any trainer lol

Update, guys! I've tried to play again and it's possible to trade Pokemon via PC emulator! You must trade 5 Pokemon to get 4 evolved forms and Hitmonlee / Hitmonchan. Finally I've caught all 151 Pokemon and go to the Game Freak Meeting Room, but my Diploma is:
