Mk2 is one of the oldest and yet most satisfying cars I've driven. I like how old car gives good feedback to driver. Engine was still 5M but N/A tuned to about 200 horsepower.

Still like the car though my cousin bought one over seas with a Bimmer engine M20b25 I think (2.5 i6)  not a bad choice but I would have rather had a 2jz even non turbo to keep it in the brand

the amount a tyre smokes varies from compound to compound and you can't tell car power simply from smoke.

the car is 420hp. Remember 400hp at the engine is roughly 230kW at the wheels. Australian dynos read different to US dynos. This is an aussie car, was in the same car club I am in

I find it really hard to believe that this has 420HP. I have one of these cars myself, fully modified, forget the old 7MG, I went for the 2JZ with a T68 turbo, 427KW at the wheels, 11.2 quarter. Yours is a nice car though.

Overall it wasnt that hard to get the engine to fit. Engineering to make it legal a different story. I had to get a custom engine crossmember and gearbox crossmember made to suit with different engine mounts but I got the motor mounted 6 inches further back than the original to try and get more weight in the rear. 2JZ will easily fit but my advice get the gearbox with the engine. RPM in SA fitted it and Bill from ATS did the tuning.

I had an 85 it was stolen twice, then I put a kill switch (killed the fuel pump) in it my own design and it was subsequently stolen "tried" 9 more times (the poor ignition switch lol) but they could never get it started. I eventually put an engine in it from Japan, so made it a 3.0 liter instead of the 2.8. Forget it in snow, really light rear!...Eventually I sold it as I got divorced and couldn't take that my ex used to sit in the passenger seat lol. such a fun car...
