In 1977, I met a girl who had a Cascades LP record. Her eyes, and this song were a perfect match. Hearing it again takes me back to her quiet room in a land so far away.
I'm sooo touched hearing this melody again. It's almost a half a Century since I heard it. In '63 these words meant alot for me ... I was deeply homesick. I couldn't cling to the place I wanted to stay ... how I wished to have had clung to my beloved country ...
What a great song. How desperate to want someone so much and to pin all your hopes on a single leaf clinging to a tree branch. I bought the Cascades first album when it first came out and played it over and over. I loved all the songs, what great harmony. Thanks for posting it.
I love The Cascades. The first song I heard from them was "Rhythm of the Rain" and I fell in love with them immediately. :) Their music is so beautiful.
THIS is one great song.....in my opinion better than RHYTHM ............I DJ'ed in the 60's and this was one of the big hits I played.........thanks for posting........
@1863year Thanks for commenting, I really like this one, my personal favorite is the flip of Rythm of the rain, which is Let Me Be. Don't get me wrong Rhythm Of The Rain is a great one too...
I first heard this song in the mid 60's at Ramstein AFB, Germany. I bought the LP which also had Rhythm of the Rain and other beautiful songs by the Cascades. Thanks for posting.
Hi Mod, long time since I heard this one. Check out Sheriff & Ravels on Vee Jay. It's a CRAZY rocker similar to Rubber Biscuit.

@upsguy2002 You have to love this tune. I wonder if they would take and stick the leaf back on, to add extra hope.

The last leaf clings to the bough
Just one leaf, that's all there is now
And my last hope live with that lonely leaf, lonely leaf
With the last leaf that clings to the bough
