  • My goodness that was cheesy. Enjoyably cheesy!

  • April 10, 2012 is when this is released on DVD! It's about time!

  • @aagranata I love this show, thanks for the news about the dvd release.

  • @aagranata Is that when the movie comes out? I heard last year the movie was scheduled for 2012.

  • @bananaramamark April 10, 2012 is when the DVD release for this TV show comes out. The movie has been on DVD for quite some time. Or are you referring to a remake? This is one film that I think is ripe for a remake.

  • @aagranata Yes, I was referring to the remake.

  • i think they wore out the "pow pow" machine when making this theme, it truly is rooted in the 1970's :)

  • wow TV really sucked just as bad back then as it does now...

  • LOGAN! Sit Down Already!!

  • Logan, where will you run to? How will you make it when all your running is through? Will there always be love when you are 30 and you've not a clue? Where will you run to? Logan, will freedom find you? Is this the moment when all your dreams will come true? In this fight to survive, there will be no second chances at all --- you'll rise or fall! And that is why, Logan, you gotta keep on running! Logan's Run! Logan's Run!! Logan's Run!!!

  • @ElectricPirates Logan 2012!!

  • Oh my goodness! I could still hum along to this theme! What does that say about my mis-spent youth? All together now: Ping-ping-ping. Ping-ping-ping. Da DA da-da-da DA-DA... Great stuff

  • it was this show followed by chips those where the day of my youth

  • based on a true story

  • This is like an infinitely more annoying version of the Stargate intro.

  • @inamonianim and yet I hummed it all day until mom told me to give it a rest,..nowadays I think as you, annoying as hell. Somethings definitely have to be seen with the eyes of a child, LOL...

  • FYI Amazon instant video service has this series for $1.99 an Episode or $20 for the series sorry not on dvd though just their streaming service.

  • Heather Menzies> Baaah it was Gregory Harrison that mattered!!!

  • This reminds me of my chldhood I loved ths programme and i always wanted a dress made like jessicas.

  • My laser gun goes PEW PEW PEW

  • I was forced to watch this once on CBS. It was horrible. Why they messed with a movie that was perfect is beyond me.

  • Ah, seventies TV! It was cheesy, it was low-tech, and it was usually poorly acted, but it was fun! It was all somehow better without all the glitz and glam we have now.

  • Gregory Harrison...yummy!

  • I purposely got sacked from boyscouts several consecutive sundays in the late 70ties, early 80ties to watch this in the afternoon in the French dubbed version on Antenne 2, French TV. It was called 'L'age de crystal' (the age of crystal).

It took a couple of years - until I saw the movie, before I got to understand what the title meant.

I always liked it more than the film. I thought it was a good American adventure series, which, due to bad timing, got cancelled too quickly

  • I can barely remember the TV series. Thanks for putting this on Youtube.

  • I remember watching this on a night TNT had a Marathon of the show. I remember because it was the nught of Hurrican Andrew I was not in it my self. Its how I remember watching it.

  • I remember on the show, the guns had a stun setting that would fire a beam which would temporarily paralyze the person that it hits. It was so bad that it looked like they they made the laser beams by drawing on the film with a marker.

But who cares if the show had bad theme music and cheesy effects, it was worth it just to see Heather Menzies.

  • I remember seeing that vehicle at the Hollywood freeway. Not its not there anymore

  • Damn, I can't BELIEVE how bad that music is! Its almost painful to the ear! "...Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo!..." STFU!!!

  • cool

  • What a douchey theme song... WOOWOOWOO... WOOWOOWOO... I remember liking the movie, probably watched a few episodes of the show, though I don't really remember. Was 15 at the time.

  • The novel was better than the movie or the series. Much better, in fact.

  • wonder when this will be rebooted

  • The "space title sequence" is also shown in an episode of Buck Rogers in 1980. The episode was Olympiad. It would make a cool screensaver.

  • theme is really annoying! classic late 70's cheese! Didn't age

    very well!!!

  • Truely woeful series...

  • "LOGAN'S RUN" was an intresting TV series, since it was based on the MGM

film a year before. science fiction sure took a major leap in 1977,with the success

of "STAR WARS" and "CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND",,so it was

rather odd,on how CBS thought, that by making this into a series, that it could make

a dent-and this is not a crittisism-but only that the timing was somewhat off! the TV

series was pretty well made,,but people were still dazed by "STAR WARS" back

    then,,so it didn't make it!

  • Remember the teachers kicking my ass as a kid when I said I wanted to be a Sandman when I grew up! Sheesh!

  • Argh! As a 9 year old back during this show's run in fall 1977, the only way I found out this show was cancelled was by seeing Logan on a new show called Trapper John M.D.

Oh well. I always thought the blond Logan and the brunette Jessica from the movie made a better looking couple anyway.

  • You'd think after the success of "Star Wars" they would have thrown everything they had at this show.

  • Jellyfish's Roger Joseph Manning Jr.(Keyboards, piano, harpsichord, vocals) does a follow-up: Logan's Sanctuary! It's a freakin CLASSIC!!! No Joke.

  • The opening really does blow your hair back.

  • This music is annoying.. It's more like a police car or some prank having a knees-up in a lavatory.

  • They had a tv series about this movie?

  • @wrestlingwomanfan yeah the tv series went further than the movie. Logan and this girl escape and find a android and a solar powered car. Somehow the sandman from the city keep tracking them and try to capture logan and the girl, while logan and the girl find new human settlements with devious plans. it really doesn't make a lot of sense cause why would you put an effort into trying to catch them while they are outside... but it is a good enough reason to do sci fi stuff

  • @robinvan1983 thanks for the info!

  • @robinvan1983 I really liked the TV series,it had a strip on Look In,watching it now the Actors are let down by lame scripts and not a lot of money spent on the show.

  • @dramaticguy yeah that android can't act. but script those days where always simple. It's fun to spot the inconsistencies of the stories. Every Sci fi series had very simple and inconsistent stories. Buck rogers, UFO, The champions, Starlost. but that is their charm. I mean with logun's run there was an episode where a guy from the past went to the future to discover what started the nuclear war. eventually he found out that his time travel was the cause of the war but he never prevented it.

  • @wrestlingwomanfan

Imbecile, your ass is the dumbest useless fool..

  • Sounds speeded up past normal speed.

  • Wait for them to do a remake of Logan's Run!

  • can the theme be annoying? very 70s

  • Gracias por colgar esta intro! La fuga de Logan!!! Ja! Ja! Era muy pequeño entonces pero me encantaba la serie!

  • who or wot are the small bold creatures and black ones at 1:07 ?

  • i would crawl 20 miles over broken glass to suck the peanuts out of her crap....

  • @TenctonPlanet hahaha tahst so stupid lmao

  • loved this show, heather was in the sound of music!

  • I quit basketball in 6th grade to watch this. I have no regrets.

  • @basemalt I hear ya, V the series was out on Friday nights but I could never watch because practice. Years later, I finally saw it via Sci Fi channel and Netflix. What a cheessy show but I love it.

  • THE coolest guns in 1970's sci-fi, no question. Great muzzle flare! Really bloody annoying theme music though. US. TV. in the 1970's always seemed to have a slew of shows with theme music that did not stay in your head, and was therefore IMPOSSIBLE TO HUM. Why was this? A good example would be 'The Streets Of San Francisco',by, I believe, the great Lalo Schifrin [could be wrong here]. Can you hum it? no. Annoying, isn't it? :D

  • It's like if someone tried to mash two keys on a keyboard over a 50s "in the future..." song.

  • A mi me encantaba, y lo malo que no la consigo

  • Como me molaba esta serie de pequeñito, flipaba con ella y con sus pistolitas laser... de chispas.

  • the execution bit is strange

  • LOL FIRE ALARM INTRO

  • This is worse!!!!

  • David Moffat was also in John Carpenter's remake of The Thing

  • ha didn't know there was a show for this.

  • Melted my mind.

  • DONT GET OLD OR THE SANDMEN WILL GET YOU.

  • 懐かしいよ、大学生のときに見ていた。

    ずっと探していたんだけど、ここで見つかるとは・・・

    嬉しいよ(^O^)/

  • i rememeber this show kinda sucked balls. be curious to see it again though, maybe misjudged it.

  • Movie was fair. TV show was lousy.

  • I didn't know Logan's Run had a TV series. I was aorund when the movie came out. What the hell!??!!? I guess it's time for me to renew...

  • PING!,PING!PING!....PING!,PING!PING! hahaha!!!

  • OMG I am old

  • @manweller1 Join the club my friend.

  • @manweller1 - LOL in a big way.

  • I ABSOLUTELY ADORE HEATHER MENZIES' HAIR AND MAKEUP AS WELL AS HER FASHIONS!

  • That purple intro is straight from Space Odyssey. Bugger it, i'm off to ebooks to see if i can read Clarke's book.

  • Jessica was so HOT!! Got the whole series on DVD!! CLASSIC!!

  • I read the book and it was very disappointing. One of those rare cases where the movie is better. The book made a lot less sense than either the movie or the TV show, especially at the end.

  • i remember watching this show when i was in 2nd grade during the 1977-78 school year. it still reminds me somewhat of star wars.

  • Underrated sci-fi series that I wish wason DVD. Two episodes were great: "The Crypt" and "Man Out of Time."

  • @robcop993: Read Logan's Run instead.

  • prefiero la serie a la pelicula,la serie fue mucho mejor

  • I loved this show! It was so awesome!

  • Seeing all the "remakes that didn't have to be made" at the moment (like Clash of the Titans for one), why oh why don't they remake Logans Run with modern special effects, and remain true to the book? they wouldn't even have to cut anything out for a two and half to three hour movie...it isn't a long book, it's quite slim actually and can be knocked over in an afternoon.

  • I loved the 1976 film, and I loved this show -- never missed an episode! It only lasted one season, as I recall -- in fact, I think it was cancelled before the 1st season was even up! Don't know why -- I thought it captured the fun and spirit of the movie quite well. Gregory Harrison and Heather Menzies filled the leads well, and Donald Moffat is always a joy to watch!

  • @Lupercirculus I use to watch the TV series in reruns on TNT and I LOVED IT

and BTW, this was Gregory Harrison before he played Gonzo on Trapper John, M.D. and Heather Menzies before she became Mrs. Robert Urich, plus Randy Powell before he went to on to do Dallas as Alan Beam and he also appeared in the Who Shot J.R.? Cliffhanger

  • The movie was fantastic. The TV series ... totally forgettable. In fact, I HAD forgotten about it until I literally stumbled across this YouTube clip.

  • One of the most disappointing TV series adaptations from a film ever created. The original theatrical film was great. This? Even by my low 1977 expectations (hey, I was just happy to have a SF show on the air) I could barely stomach what they did.

  • I've only seen the movie once.

I Know Michael York was in it.

This is probably a very very obvious question-Did he play Logan?

  • @thekroton Yes. Michael York did portray LOGAN 6 in the 1976 theatrical motion picture. Greg Harrison portrays LOGAN 6 in this TV series.

  • @hobokenplayboy - IIRC, wasn't it Logan 5, Jessica 6 and Francis 7?

  • I never watched the series but wa a big fan of the movie. In the series do they still have the carousel and do people still go red at 30. I thought once they were outside everything would be ok?

  • @Allanlegacy43 I think they do. I remember the movie being aired before the show was first aired. I did not think i would like it at first but once I got used to the actors I did just like in Doctor Who where one thinks they will not like the actor who replaced the ealier one. The pilot was ok though.

  • @britfrenir They made the end differnet in it. One of the sand men who chased them shows up and thinks and one sand man who does not know that Logan is a runner shows up and reminds them of the days when they were partners.

  • This show isn't terrible. I watched the first four episodes. It has some promise. Yeah it has that late 70's feel to it. But shows back then had mild plots. They utilize their guns a lot as plot movers. It's kind of a trip.

  • Logan´s run was great , I really miss it !

  • GRAND RESPECT POUR CETTE SERIE

  • I don't think that people would be anywhere near as mean to this theme if it didn't have the 'Pyew! Pyew! Pyew!' (which I really don't mind). With or without it, Laurence Rosenthal's theme is a fine, sweeping melody. I've heard far worse.

  • Worst opening theme ever.

  • there ws a series? i remeber the film which i dnt think was same people

  • god what an annoying theme...

  • I like the music ! piew ! piew ! ! piew ! piew !

  • @coffee396 lool

i like your interpretation of it.

  • @coffee396 Is that a technical term, "piew"? :)

  • Is it it just me or does Heather Menzies look a lot like Emily Deschanel ?

  • I was nine when this show aired. Loved it. I don't think it lasted a dozen episodes.

  • im thinking of watching the tv series...i saw the movie and loved it. is it worth watching?

  • Camara? Camera. Wtf.

  • Holy shaky camara, it looks like a documentary of the making of the credits. Especially 0:56, that's just ridiculous. I forgot about the show, the movie was spectacular.

  • we did get it in england.i remember the robot rem!

  • There was a series? I thought it was only a movie.

  • @jefft78 Yes, it was a (mercifully) short-lived tv series. You know the scenario--movie is a big hit, so they keep the gravy train rolling by turning it into a big, nationally-televised stinkfest. Really, it was a terrible show. I was only 7 or 8 then, but even by MY childish, undemanding standards, I was mortified for anyone connected with that awful show.

  • I used to watch this show!! It only ran a few episodes!!

    Great Post!!

  • wow we never got this in england. We got the film version at the end of the 70s classic film you could of sent us this instead of tj hooker

  • Yes, we did get this in England. I remember watching it, though I can't remember which channel it was on.

  • @Ikaftl Sorry, i swear i'm not trying to be rude, but don't you guys have only about 2 channels? And even for that, isn't there that sketchy government van that drives around, trying to detect people who don't pay for the license? Consider yourself lucky--the more channels, the more crap available to Ebola-ize one's brain.

  • @seanr456 Back when this was shown in the UK (1978), we had three channels : BBC1, BBC2 and ITV. These days we have about 25-30 , plus satellite & cable, but you're correct that a lot of them are full of crap. Haven't seen a detector van in years, these days they assume everybody has a TV, therefore if you're not on the database, they just knock on your door and ask to see a license...

  • @Ikaftl - a detector van? Wow, you Brits sure took the licence thing seriously. I'm not sure how we did it in Oz, but we did away with radio and TV licences in the early seventies. But then, in those days we only had one ABC TV channel and three commercial ones in capital cities, and one of each in regional areas.

  • right at the beginning at about 0:05 the theme is reminiscent of "han solo and the princess" from episode 5. anyone agree?

  • @idislikeaparade the theme music is very similar to "Princess Leia theme" but since both appearead roughl at the same time in 1977 it might be a coincidence, or one was influencedby the other.

  • Hilarious theme music ... shame they couldn't have used the excellent film score instead.

  • I remember seeing some good side-boob of Jessica in a few episodes.

  • This use to be one of my favourite programmes when I was a kid.

  • ON DVD

  • I4VE GOT ALL THE SERIE FROM 77-78 and the movie from 76

  • Heather Menzies was gorgeous in this.

  • annoying but awesome theme.

oh yah why was this show canceled?

  • i loved the show !!!!! beautiful memories!!! greetings from Argentina

  • thank you for posting that video

    Many childhood memories ...

A really good serie, I would like to watch it again

  • RENEW!

  • i loved the guns!! the sound they made and how the blast came out of the sides of the barrel super cool

  • This is possibly the most annoying intro I've ever heard.

  • @CoffeeInThatNebula next to your voice

  • I love the instrumental melody, but that siren sound in the back just kills it. This was a pretty nice little show and i enjoyed it back in the day, but it didn't go anywhere.

  • Being a fan of the film, I love this series. Film Score Monthly released a soundtrack for the series. A bit of a rarity, but worth seeking out if you're a fan.

  • What the hell is that sound. A space bird??

  • wasn't this a spin off from the movie title the same?

  • Weoow! Weoow! Weoow!

  • Nice theme, but absolutely ruined by the '70s disco styleee and that RIDICULOUS 'weoow weoow weoow' noise! lol

Funnier than the Space 1999 theme? Maybe, it's close... :)

  • I was young when i saw this, star-wars changed everything for me, but saying that this show was a classic, it's our future if were not careful :) - the dissenting Logan against the order, tagging, scanning, an omnipotent elite ruling behind a curtain, population control, all cultures mixed up as one, it's the "Venus" project from the zeitgeist movement, is there a synchronism here? I'm going mad... :) great show.

  • +1 this is the bit they dont show in the pretty Venus Project renders

  • haha, i bet... thanks

  • Win. Trollz fur lulz. +1. That shit was fucking hilarious!

  • life starts at 30 ...for some. anything before that time is just a form of a sleeping wake and good memorys.... for most. most never wake up.

  • Oh God. There was barely enough of an idea to make into a film(which I personally love), let alone a series. Looks like a poor man's Buck Rogers.

  • This is one of the worst themes I ever heard for a science fiction series. It is soooo 70's Lalo Schafrin-like with a disco influence. Really baaaaaad.

  • SHUT UP

  • aw, well i loved it! i rememember reading a book based on it too. Ah the seventies, the innocence!

  • The series was based (VERY loosely) on the book... In fact it was more that the series was based on the movie which was, in turn based on the book.

  • it lasted maybe half a season supposely there is a rumor that Logan's Run is going to be remade.

  • que buena que estaba esta serie!!! Yo estaba enamorado de Jessica!!!

  • I only found out now that there was even a TV series made based on the Logan's Run film. I never knew. How many seasons did this last?

  • It barely lasted half a season.

  • Wow. I remember recording just the audio from the tv back when it first aired. Awesome.

  • Wasn't that the dude from Trapper John?

  • Yes, he was. I think his name was "Gonzo" Gates, or something like that.

  • wow!

That is one of the worst TV themes I have ever heard!

    Thanks for posting it.

    ; )

  • "There IS no Sanctuary!!!

    Carousel is a LIE!!!"

(yes; I know that's from the movie!

The TV series, imho, was a very good idea, poorly executed! The movie was, & still IS, a CLASSIC!)

  • good show but music sounds like love boat crap!

  • I loved this show as a kid. It should be released to DVD soon. Since there "rebooting" old shows like "Star Trek" how about Logan's Run. I think that would be great.

  • Naaaa!.. I think it will be better if they "reboot" Space 1999 or UFO. LOL, the 1990s and the 1980's as respectively protrayed in those two television series were so accurate and just as I rembered when I was a kid.

  • UFO IS getting a reboot. There's a big-screen revival in the offing.

  • Eh, the movie was better. This was back in the day when Star Wars inspired & influenced a load of rip - offs in movies & TV, including this series.

The re - imagined / envisioned BSG & the series Babylon 5 have been diamonds in a very LARGE pile of televisual OWL POOP, ask Harlan Ellison sometime......

  • This was a great series - but track down the original book - it's awesome.

  • This was a great show. Watched it all the time back when I was a kid!
