I was there in the River End (opposite end of where goal was scored). The final score was 5-3 to Liverpool. Probably one of the best games of football I've seen. RIP Fash.
Many years ago (mid 80's) a Man Utd supporter told me that this was his all time favourite goal. Never having seen it I assumed he was just trying to put a rare one over Liverpool.(at that point in time!)
You can watch it a million times and smile. Just superb. RIP Justin.
I watched that goal on match the day the evening the match was played. It was a great goal, made even greater for the fact that Norwich held what was the most formidable team (Liverpool) of the eighties to a 1-1 draw. R I P Justin Fashanu.
63,000 people have at least once thought, "I'd love to see that Justin Fashanu goal v Liverpool" . And I'm one of them - the best goal of my childhood. Simply, outstanding
One of the greatest goals of all time! Andrew crofts just scored an identical goal for Norwich against Barnsley and both are outstanding but this one against the famous Liverpool team is just world class!
@Vasyukov Norwich were not 4-0 down when he scored.
I was there - it was the first football match I was taken to. How lucky was I to watch this game as my first! Norwich went 1-0 up then Liverpool equalised. Norwich then went ahead 2-1 and were pegged back again 2-2 at half time.
Liverpool then took the lead to make it 2-3 and then Nowich equalised to 3-3 (Fashanus' goal) & looked like drawing until Dalglish & Case both scored in the last 3 mins!!!
The hairs on my arms have a problem when I watch this goal. It is pure class. I root for Liverpool and have done so all my life, but I guess I am an old fashioned conservative. What consenting adults do in their bedroom is none of my business. I just like great football.
@p1nkAcid Actually he hung himself because he had sex with an underage boy and was up on sexual assault charges. Being gay is one thing, being a pedophile is something entirely different.
@mramo nah.. i know of the rugby player dunno his name though, my ex is a rugby youth player, won some tour of barcelona and got player of the tournament too. beying gay doesnt affect how good u are at sports. davide santon, its rumours so far that he is bi, hes not got a really big name out of italy yet but hes been very impressive the games he has played.

One of the all-time great goals. Tragic story of Justin Fashanu, he never came close to reaching his full potential at Forest.

Pure grace, balance and artistry. I love this goal.
Not a Norwich fan but this is my favourite goal of all time.
He just pings it on his left foot, the camera angle right behind it and the commentry. What a beautiful strike!

what a tragedy, came out as gay and then hung himself, just shows that only straight people can survive in the harsh world of football.
RIP Justin, for me you will be remembered as a talented striker, instead of just, the gay player who hung himself.

I'm sure that I was at that game too. I would have been about 8 or 9, being born in June '72, so didn't fully apprciate what was going on.

Dont get me wrong, its a terrific goal and is in maybe the top 10 ever scored!
My point was simply that he did'nt really push on and become a world class footballer!
Maybe cos he was gay and was discriminated against???
Probably!!! Great goal all the same.....no denying that.

@KillswitchEdge the allegations were dropped, and besides the boy was 17. If he was straight there would have been no problem with it.
