so let me get this straight, you bought the m-tron software installed it to your computer and then hooked your keyboard up to your computer. and thats what gives you the mellowtron effects onto keyboard? how mmuch does this thing cost and where do you get it?

@93smittyson The version of the instrument used in this video has been superseded by the M-Tron Pro. You can get it from Sweetwater, who are GForce's official distributor in the US. It's a digital download coming in at somewhere around 3.5 GB, so it will take a while to download. Since YouTube hates links in comments, search for "M-Tron Pro" on Sweetwater's site. You can also find more information on GForce's official site, Gforcesoftware.

how do you get this amazing sound? what keyboard are you using and what effects and stuff? please tell me.

The sound is generated by the GForce M-Tron software VST, which I play with a controller board. The effects weren't really that involved--just some delay and reverb. The EQ I ultimately used with this bank is detailed in one of my later videos (which should show up as an annotation link).

I love how individual singer's voices are audible among the legion, the fact that some of them are slightly out-of-tune adds to the charm - the more imperfection the better!

m-tron is quite an interesting reproduction of the mellotron sound.. i thought the flute sound was more faithful than this one though...

they say m-tron pro software is a more accurate reproduction.. I wish I could afford the real thing though.

I'm very familiar with Mellotron history, but I think this sounds really, really good. I'd kill to hear you do some stuff from old Genesis songs like Dancing With The Moonlit Knight or Silent Sorrow From Empty Boats. That would be KILLER!!!

The most haunting Mellotron sound ever. Are these sounds from an M400?

Yep. The M400 came out in 1970, and this particular sound was one of the most popular banks available. It was actually formed from the male and female choirs spliced together. The EQ in this example is not my best--I have a better example among my videos now.
