  • Those crosswinds really kicked in at 00:14. Bet the pilots got brown stains in their underwears. "What can brown do for you".

  • Thats Logistics...

  • I've heard of "touch and go" but ...

  • serves them right for making that shitty 'We <3 Logistics' commercial

  • Ontario Airport(ONT), California during the Santa Ana winds.

What incident? Nothing happened, the winds messed up his approach, the pilot just throttled up for another go-around. Bah-dah bing, bah-dah boom.

  • dammmm! that was so close, cant believe he saved that

  • @andunvme its a DC-8

  • Is that a 707? anybody know?

  • looks windy

  • anyone that says that the pilot has no skill or that he skrewed up,... they don't know what is going on and the dynamics of flight and the skill required to attempt a landing in such situations and the proper response to surprise heavy crosswind. this is a skilled pilot whoever he is, saving the plane like that!

  • for anyone's information that is a DC 8 plane landing in ontario, california and this video is shown to new ups management personnel and pilots. the technicians tried loading this into the simulators after this incident and NOT ONE SINGLE PILOT has EVER been able to replicate this maneuver and make the aircraft climb back into the air. FACT!

  • pilot: wee i love drifting in the air. passengers: ahhhhhhhhhh who made that dam pilot in charge of this plane. winds: hehe i love trying to destroy planes. XD

  • That was awesome.

  • They are trained to deal with crosswind gusts. Why do you think that commercial pilots spend so much time in the simulators? Look up B-52 crosswind landing. It is the only jet in the world that needs no special handling to land in a heavy crosswind.

  • i bet their underware were brown also!! LMAO!!

  • I hate crosswinds, especially the ones like that, wer they hit u rite before u touch down

  • Flying away from the fail.......LIKE A BOSS.

  • @MaRc0asiandomination it was not the pilotes fail

  • pilot: erm love (hes drunk ) land the plane for me

wife: ok but lay of the stella

pilot:yer yer what ever (looks up ) shit pull up

and that why it was bumpy :)

  • Pilot: Dammit APC! Why don't you ever tell use before we actually do the thing?!

  • think thats bad? gota see the way we handle your boxes in the buildings, you will never ship UPS again lol

  • @josesuarez89 BAHAHAHA that is soo true, fuckin hilarious!!

  • little windy eh fella

  • pilot saw Chuck Norris near runway and decide not to land, smart pilot!!

  • crosswinds !

  • You have to remember the DC-8 doesn't have leading edge slats, so it has a natural nose down attitude on landing. Looks like a normal go around to me.

  • Glad to see the pilots made the right choice by going missed

  • Google Ron Paul

  • WAS HE SMOKEING CRACK ??? THE CAPTIN AND CO POLIT?? OR JERKING OFF??

  • @THEMAMABOY101 He did what he could to make a good landing, but there was to much win, that doesnt mean, that hes "on crack"

  • Drift King!!!! 0:14

  • God the DC-8. That thing was olllld schoool.

  • what a baller

  • at 0:19 you get the go-around thrust !

  • I remember this. They were trying to land into Ontario, CA and it was high Santa Anas that day.

  • The pilots news new pants

  • Need A Break ? Twix :)

  • its DOWNS now

  • Super 73 with Four CFM's plent of power to break the bonds of earth when you need it!

Excellent Job by crew, "If in doubt throw it away, go around, to fly another day!

  • He came in to fast... And the crosswind effected..

  • And this is why you always don't alwyas be a cheap fuck with bubble wrap.

  • That's one lucky bastard. Kudos to the pilot.

  • 34 people had a package onboard that plane!

  • What plane is this? It looks like a A340 but it seems abit small? or is it just the camera angle

  • @davek71 Neverminds its a DC 8

  • who says you cant drift a plane

  • holy crap if i was on dat plane i wud have shit my pants!!

  • wow good reaction that could have been ugly

  • I Would Shit myself -flying flying flying , OMG ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH , JESUS I NEED SOME NEW PANTS

  • 34 people lost their packages

  • UPS did have a fatal 747 crash last year--it was flight 6.

  • He tried to drive the plane in to avoid another pass. He should have been flaring before he was even over the runway. The copilot was probably practicing landing.

  • I wouldnt want to be in that plane.

  • @tvgirlnyc You won't. It's a freighter!!! ;-)

  • @JosephGiehos You know know who I am...hehe!!

  • airplane drift.

  • It's a damn good thing my package didn't get damaged or boy would I be pissed!!!!!

  • you do realise these are tricks? they do that to show off, nobodys in the plane apart from the pilot.

  • @HighDefinitionCoD Tricks?! The crosswinds are damn strong and the pilots in that video are having a really hard time landing

  • @HighDefinitionCoD You, sir, are a dumbass.

  • @HighDefinitionCoD You are the king of the idiots!! I don't say imbecile cause that would be insulting to the imbecils.

  • weeeeeeee!

  • mabye he meant 2 do it hahaha

  • that looked cool tho!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and thats why i hate the dc-8

  • comin in for a landing captain! ooh nevermind guess i wont!

  • Flaps up!! Flaps up!!

  • Fresh underpants please!

  • There are old pilots.

    There are bold pilots.

There are no old bold pilots.

Take offs are optional - landings are mandatory.

    Anarchy for all!!!

  • You know.. After all these videos.. FUCK BEING A PILOT. Kthx.

  • I like it better when they give me my porn in the doorless brown trucks :D

  • I've worked for UPS. They probably made the pilot pay for the fuel he used to go around.

  • umm~It's touch and go!

  • thats what happens when u play PlayStation while landing

  • Hey no wonder my package came late!

  • Did he make another attempt at landing? The reason I ask is that I am still waiting for my priority package!

  • @gowestward1 he is still waiting for better weather

  • @gowestward1 lol

  • UPS and Federal Ex pilots are ones that have most crashes in history

  • FUCK, KAY..KAY.. PULL UP SO IT LOOKS LIKE I DIDNT FAIL.

  • Absolutely clutch piloting there.

  • Ok, no problem, we have a slight crossw....OH MY GOD, HOLY HELL, HIT THE THROTTLE HIT IT GODDAMMIT OH MY DEAR LORD!!!! whew! I think that "slight crosswind" was fairly severe...

  • if you can fuck up a landing with all that open desert you dont deserve to be flying. ¬__¬

  • @TheEgg185 There may be all that open desert, But you land on a runway, It could be surrounded by lava, It will not be any harder to land, I would like to see you try and land that :P

  • @TheEgg185

What do you mean "all that open desert"? It's not like they are going to be landing at any open area they can. They land on the runway... also they didn't "fuck up". They caught some severe crosswinds, and had to go around. A good pilot knows when to push it, and when to back off. This guy knew that he needed to back off, which makes him a good pilot.

  • i would have to agree that that was one of the better wave-offs that i have seen anywhere. GREAT JOB TO THE CREW

  • pilot: ok nice and easy. no no nooo! pull up pull up!!!! shit shit shit!!!!! wow that was close. that was fucking close!

  • @stickfigure1998 hahahahaha dts hilaious

  • @stickfigure1998 love ur comment!

  • @stickfigure1998 hate ur comment!

  • @stickfigure1998 clearly you know nothing of airplanes. pulling up is exactly what not to do in that situation. you'll lost lift and stall the airplane and crash. the correct go-around procedure is full throttle and retract the flaps incrementally. pulling up does not make the airplane go up it makes it slow down. throttle is what makes it go up.

  • @youronlysolution yeah but you shouldn't put the flaps all the way up, because they increase lift, which an airplane needs in order to fly.

  • The power coming from those four engines when he goes around is incredible. What plane is this?

  • @LordTracon It's a DC-8 that has been re-engined with the same engines off of a 747.

  • @da40flyer Wrong. Those are CFM56s.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=ILdgL-277MI A tribute video to the fallen UPS pilots in Dubai

  • Chuck NORRIS roundhoused kicked the plane

  • right rudder right rudder right rudder right rudder right rudder...YES

  • That's not an incident; that's a technical term in aviation. That was just them aborting landing due to an overly strong crosswind.

  • I was just like, what the fuck are they doing.

  • this is why i use FEDEX.

  • @Jengodatabase : your package fell down from the top pile when the plane wobbles.

  • That T.O.G.A. is coming out of your paycheck.

  • My package was on that plane

  • What these guys do to win a pack of beers! Oh, my!

  • It would seem to me that based on the nose down attitude of the plane from 0:00 to 0:18 when they started the go-around that they were going too fast and the PIC was attempting to force the plane down. I believe landing nose wheel first would have ended in the plane being destroyed though, like the MD11 in Japan for example. (Also a UPS plane I think?)

  • @Tuffo3 correct....

  • @ilikstikz7804 youre a fag

  • @vols4567,???wtf why am i a fag????

  • @ilikstikz7804 You are a fag.

  • CRAIG! wake up!

  • "ok we're gonna go around here, FO you take the airplane, i gotta go change my boxers"

  • Severe crosswinds - Santa Anna wind season - crew did an excellent job with recovery and rejected landing (wave-off/go around) procedures! UPS Airlines has perhaps the safest record of aircraft incidences!

  • Uhh, UPS only takes cargo, no passengers. It has also had a few crashes, the most recent one being the 747-400 they lost in the middle-east due to a cargo fire.

  • @Link3Ann Actually, UPS crashed one of there 747-400's a few months back due to a cargo fire.

  • @legomovies64 which has nothing to do with the airline's safety record, only the nature of the cargo carried on board, that aircraft was literally months old.

  • @Link3Ann also he touched down on the front tire first.

  • @Link3Ann they'd pretty much have to...shitload of damaged/destroyed parcels if one plane crashed

  • @Link3Ann True, they were able to pull it up and abort landing very well.

  • hey that waz my new shoes

  • Came in too fast so they had too much lift and couldn't get down in time you can see the nose pointing down cuz the pilot was trying to get lower

  • Dude, you don't know what the hell you're talking about!

  • touch and go

  • Nope..!

  • i didnt know they had UPS planes!

  • You should visit an airport more often!

  • that pilot probably needs a fresh pair when he lands.

  • thats what i would call air drifting

  • I remember when this happened in the mid-late 90's ..... it was at Ontario airport which functions as an emergency airport for all the LA/OC area. It has very long runways, but as you can see have very nasty winds..... I used to live about 5 miles from there...great place to fly in and out of.

  • God...

  • It was getting abducted by aliens haha

  • @Nascarhappyfan - nice.

  • Learn how to spell, Jackass.

  • @Link3Ann Trolling noob

  • Yeah lol! Let's just forget about the lives who were onboard who could have lost their lives and worry about our packages.

  • there goes that laptop i ordered

  • Comment removed

  • optimistsRUS's- You are correct in saying you aren't an expert. There is most definitely a strong crosswind from the left--on go around rudder is taken out and the aircraft (the venerable DC-8) flies into the relative wind. This was a strong crosswind and a properly flown approach by professional pilots. If it was a junior F/O flying, he or she is neither stupid nor lacking skill. Crewmembers at this level have years of experience and judgement. Seat position is determined by hire date.

  • Bear in mind this was probably Ontario airport CA during a raging Santa Ana condition, and Ontario during a strong Santa Ana is so windy you can barely stand, much less land an airplane.

  • Correct... it "was" ONT...

  • Four engines, you pull that shit on a twin and your toast.

  • THE FRIKEN PLANE ISNT BIG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE PILOT'S BALLS! HOLY CRAP THOSE PILOTS HAVE BALLS OF STEEL !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thefsxandREALpilot

Maybe you are not big enough to know that this was a cross-wind landing attempt and aborting the landing in such a situation is not unusual, it's rather smart to abort the landing than to crash.

  • @optimistsRUS no kidding pal, i dont see what that had to do with anything but whatever

  • @thefsxandREALpilot

I just watched it again, I was too quick to say "you're wrong", but in fact there was no cross-wind here. My apologies for attacking you. I am not an expert on aviation any way, but I think the approach wasn't right, you don't touch down the nose gear first. I wonder who was filming it and whether it was some kind of a test or if it was a stupid junior First Officer who made the landing attempt but the senior pilot took controls at the last moment...?

  • @optimistsRUS thats ok and see i think what happened was a severe tail wind whether at the last moment or not i dont know but they had to bring the nose down very far just to descend slightly and they really wanted to land i guess and when they pulled up so they didnt touch nose gear first they were forced pretty much into a missed approach because in fact if you look close even after they pulled the nose up and realize they are climbing they try to AGAIN push the nose dwn 2 land but thy couldnt

  • @thefsxandREALpilot

Yes, the descent was very sharp in an attempt to avoid a missed approach.

  • @optimistsRUS they missed aproach they avioded a crash, you should know the differance

  • @datzfast

They avoided a crash by pulling up, right? What I was saying was that in the initial approach it seems to me that the altitude of the aircraft was too high and they descended very sharply to try to avoid a missed approach.

  • @optimistsRUS agreeded notice when the aircraft gets into ground effect its like its on a bubble and starts corkscrewing, notice also when flaps are deployed almost just befor touchdown , you would have though that would be miles back

  • @datzfast They don't always use full flaps for landing. I think what you see here is using full flaps to get more lift for the go around.

  • @Jackle61 or they were using full flaps/near full flaps due to heavy weight = need lower speed to lower the burden on the wheels = more flaps

  • What..??! Go back to school... you haven't a clue..!

  • @Link3Ann lol you go back to school . Listen to optimistsRUS , but maybe "ad hominem" is too much vocabulary for you.

  • You're a dumb ass and incorrect...

  • @Link3Ann

Thank you for your ad hominem attack, you are the all-wise and we all are lowly idiots who seek an explanation, would you be kind enough to bestow some of your wisdom on us?

  • @thefsxandREALpilot im pretty sure they never had a runway underneth the aircraft at any point on the failed attempt at landing.

  • best air roller coaster!!!!!

  • the pilot mustve been crapping in his pants

  • Were those Santa Ana winds that blew the plane off course? Well, in any case, those UPS pilots were smooth in aborting landing just in time to avoid a very bad day at the "office"! (And you think YOUR job is stressfull!)

  • sick

  • Was the plane trying to land?

  • @SirEmilio1026 yes xD

  • @SirEmilio1026 no, it was trying to order a pizza

  • @SirEmilio1026 no he was givin the passengers a roller coaster... an invisible one lol

  • THAANKYOU...............ALL

  • Aircraft drift...

  • That might have been just crosswinds

  • Lets all say it together: "wind shear".

  • probably heavy winds that day and it got its landing position altered on aproach and had to mayday

  • think again pilot... ur plane isnt a harrier...

  • so thats why my pacage arrived so late!

  • @lolboy198 haha

  • air plane drifts ftw :D

  • Now That's what I call shipping fail

  • What aircraft is that?

  • @FlightSimLover its a DC8

  • How's this fake??? Dumb asses look up crosswinds before u call this fake...
