How is it that even 3 people didn't like this video? Wow. NO ONE should dislike your playing. No one. P.S.- I am subscribing. Lovely performance and I can't wait to scroll through your other videos :)
Excellent! I am attempting this song and I can play it, but only as a slow aire. I find it hard at the moment to find the necessary breathing spaces to keep the song going at an even pace :) I am working on this.
Mr. Duns, i am learning the 2 first phrase of The Road to Lisdoonvarna. I practiced the first phrase until i was able to do it and i did the same with the second one. After, i took the two and stick them together. My problem was the breathing, now solved. But because i have learn the song slow and i cut all the notes it sounds not pretty when BPM is above 100.
I would like you to tell me where ,in the song, do you do the cuts and where you just let blow the air freely.
You have Dunz it a again Duns....awesome. By the way the whistle is obviously carved from a large marijuana plant. Its called a canabis flute. You Rock!!!!!!
i am from Peru and i have not see that type flute, were have you buy it. i spect you have a good time here. you are a realy good techer of tin whistle i have learn all i know because of you and i want to lear that song cand you tell me were to find the lyrics
Can you post a video on this song, on how to play it. I have not taken up learning by music yet on this particular instrument. I have both a Tony Dixon Low D and high D. I can get the main gist of the song by ear, but would like to see it done slowly, or a lesson on it. PS I love your instructional videos.
wow I really like that tune. Been to peru myself :) pavel891 that's not a quena it's a whistle and the material seems to be torched bamboo or cane you can see they used the ribbons to shield the wood and create patterns in unburnt lines. probably close to G. I really loved the sound of quenas in the mountains!!! But quenas really take some practice to make them sound right^_^
Thats great playing, ill try and get your video up on my tin whistle site.... whistleaway . com . If any of you whistlers out there have a blog or website, id love if you could tell evryone about my tin whistle site.
Psalm 149:3 "Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp." You must keep playing and teaching it, for music the gift of the spirit x
That's a nice whistle you got from Peru, man. Looks to be made of bone or ivory? What key's it in?
And regarding the dodgy gaze, that's one of the best things about musicians. When me and my friends have a session, the guitarist and fiddler both stare intently at my face. It can be akward at times so I usually just close my eyes when playing the feadóg.
I have an dodgy gaze, so I tend to look around all over the place when I'm playing - usually at the monitor! Sometimes I use the sheet music but, in many cases, these are tunes that I've played for many years.
very nice playing, just got me a Clark Celtic Tin Whistle today, my first whistle ever, and I must say I got inspired by you and many of the others here on youtube. I've got a question though, do you play all these songs by heart or do you have sheets for them? I can see how your eyes move from left to right, but I'm not sure :)

St. Ignatius of Loyola too, if I'm not mistaken? I'm a little shifty on such things, I haven't been to church in years.
Anyways, fine show indeed.
