this man was a legend in austria and throughout europe....he was amazing,he songs were unique and cool. His death was a shocker and he will never be forgotten...he would have been the next mega star next to Arnie from Austria. Falco 4 ever!!!
If i remember right he made this song to "bring Mozart to the generation of that time"...where i grew up it's intended effect actually worked with some kids too.
luvperlerbeads, Falco died in the Dominican Republic on 6th Feb 1998 2 weeks before his 41st birthday. His motorbike was in collision with a bus. At the time he was working on a comeback.

Falco and Mozart are austrians, no fucking germans. True Punk is only made by Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten. Falco makes only a parody of Amadeus. Deus is name of God. To use it is bad omen and a sign to recognize a looser^^
It's because when America put this out as a single, they created it from a mostly instrumental dance remix that came out in the German world and it featured all sorts of weird things like those helium-voiced female vocals, a spoken word history of Mozart, a bridge featuring an R&B singer, and violin and saxophone playing. This is the American single mix you are hearing by the way which came out in parts of the world where Falco was not already very well-known.
Ha, every time I listened to this I kept thinking "What the hell is he saying??!!" The only word I ever understood was amadeus. Though maybe the fact that he is singing in what, German was it is the reason I can't understand.
They should make it a ringtone

this song is simply a masterpiece of modern european music. Acutally, Falco can be considered as a sort of Mozart of the modern age.

What's wrong with this version?
I have a belief that if a song was initially written in that language, it was meant to be that way.
If you want to know what he says, try researching it.

It was around 1780
And it was in Vienna
No plastic money anymore
The banks against him
Where his debts came from
It was commonly known
He was a man of women
Women loved his punk
Refrain etc.
FranHu75 2 years ago 2
He was a superstar
He was popular
He was so exalted
Because he had flair
He was a virtuose
Was a rock idol
And everyone shouted:
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Refrain

jemismyfav, here you go:
He was a punker
And he lived in the big city
It was Vienna, was Vienna
Where he did everything
He had debts, for he drank
But all the women loved him
And each one shouted:
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Refrain

jemismyfav, and here you go with the first verse:
He was a punker
And he lived in the big city
It was Vienna, was Vienna
Where he did everything
He had debts, for he drank
But all the women loved him
And each one shouted:
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Refrain etc.
